Hello. I'm specifically interested in pursuing Psychiatry in the UK.
    I'm currently preparing for PLAB1.
I graduated in 2018. I read in your comment section that you recommend MRCPsych instead of Plab for Psychiatry training.
I, however, do not have any clinical experience after graduation. What do you suggest?
    Please respond. Thanks in advance.

Hello. For Psychiatrists, we would always recommend getting the experience first and then applying for MRCPsych.
Junior Psychiatry posts are rare within the NHS, hence we recommend the post graduate to secure higher chances of obtaining a post.

Hi, I'm an ECFMG certified IMG from India. Does finishing USMLE steps and having US clinical experience help in getting into Psychiatry in the UK? Or is it advisable to do residency in Psychiatry in India first and then apply to the UK. Thanks in advance!

hello, when the speaker mentioned Oxford deanery, did that mean Oxford University? how difficult is it to get accepted into Oxford University psychiatry core and specialty training? could you please do a video on non-training jobs as a substitute for FY2 and how one can do audits etc to help them get into psychiatry speciality training? thank you.

Hello BDI resourcing, You're very helpful to us. Thanks for this.
I have just finished my Graduation here in India and was planning to go for PLAB but I wanted to know about the recruitment for core training and specialilty training. How tough is the competition for IMGs , what are the criteria, are those who live in UK or Europe preferred more?
    Pls respond. Thankyou.

      Hello Chetan,
      Thank you for your comment.
Can I please ask how much experience you have? And then I can provide you with more in depth guidance.
Typically, NHS training posts are given first refusal to British and European citizens, yes. This is called first-round applications. Once those places have been filled and if there are any remaining places, the NHS will go to second-round advertisements. This is the stage you can apply.
Alternatively, you could obtain a HEE post (WAST or FY2 stand-alone), which allows you to apply for first-round training posts.
Although they are competitive, it does not mean that you will not secure a post.
      I hope this helps.
      Regards,
      Gabrielle

@@bdiresourcing5775 your response was really helpful. I am about to finish 1 year of internship here in India which will probably be counted as FY1 in UK.
Can you suggest me any source where I can find the number of seats/posts in different specialities generally available for second round?

      @@MsChetanrocks Hello Chetan,
All specialties are available to apply for in the second round.
Perhaps you could consider applying for the WAST Scheme, that allows you to train in GP, Psychiatry and Acute Medicine for one year. This will then allow you to apply for first-round specialty training posts.
      All the best,
      Gabrielle
