- With Super Mario Odyssey nearing its seventh year since launch, many fans of the series have been wondering when a new 3D Mario game could release. In fact, with a new Nintendo console likely launching fairly soon, a new 3D Mario game is looking more imminent by the moment, so in today's video, we will be discussing what exactly this new 3D Mario title could look like and explore the future of 3D Mario.

A purely multiplayer or online mario game sounds terrible. The whole concept is single player platforming. 3d worlds partial multiplayer was more than enough.
But a Minecraft-like mix of the two sounds perfect. Offline and online play
It needs something else to work with
I would love a Sunshine sequel.
Whatever the next game in the series is, I just hope it has similar movement to odyssey. That game made it so much fun to just control Mario and roam around the kingdoms, and I’d love for that to return
I think the next game can take place in the sky, being an overarching theme like sunshine. We can see a new magic wand abilities with different types of magic. Maybe you can attack with fire or create ice platforms, perhaps mario can absorb some of the abilities of a enemy using the wand(this will be a more limited upgrade than capture but Mario get to use his move set as well)
i want a full game of Bowser's fury, i think that would be very fun

I can imagine them taking the Fury Bowser gimmick and changing it to be based on weather. Imagine a game called "Super Mario Seasons", where Bowser's this giant storm cloud that causes different disasters to happen and its up to you and your sidekick Maney to stop him. Each world will give you different abilities based on the weather and a boss to face off(the Fore-casters).

Having super Mario online is like saying you have to pay a subscription service to play the next mainline Mario game
I would absolutely *LOVE* to see an open world-Mario-Game, too. But I really want it to be fully open world. Not like Bowser's Fury where you had to unlock specific areas. I think it would be awesome if it was like BotW or TotK, so that everything is accessible right from the beginning, but of course with the great Mario-Movement. And the movement should be complete at the start in my opinion.
I hear many people who want something like a skill-tree, but this just wouldn't fit in a Mario-Game. I've always loved about Mario-Games that you have every move right from the very beginning. You don't become faster or jump higher while progressing. This would just kill platform-challenges, and you definitley need them in a platformer-game. And I don't want to have to learn the Triple-Jump for example. I want to be able to do it from the very beginning.
I would make the main-collectible make something like this:
You can go whereever you want in every possible order in this world, except of the final boss. Bowser is behind a great gate and the player needs to build some kind of weapon (a big hammer for example) in order to break the gate and enter the final boss. So you can actually explore Bowser's castle instantly, but you can't go to Bowser (or the main antagonist, it doesn't have to be Bowser).
Every main boss has a specific element which you need to build this weapon. So you have to defeat every main boss and beside this collect many of the main-collectibles (but not every) to enter the final boss and beat the game. Or you need just 4 of the 7 (for example) main bosses and the main-collectibles.
Or they make it like in the newest Zelda-Games and you can instantly go to Bowser (or whoever or whatever the main antagonist will be), but I would prefer the former idea.
And there should be some collectibles that are just there, but they aren't important in sense of beating the game. Like the Purple Coins in Mario Odyssey or the Korogs in BotW and TotK. Many little things that make exploring worth it and gives you a smile on your face. 😊
These are some of my ideas to this. And I think an open world-Mario-Game would be the ultimate videogame. 😍

I had a kind of fun idea for odyssey 2, so like basically metro kingdom uses power moons for energy, and basically they’re out, and since bowser was left on the moon at the end of odyssey, he took control of the moon kingdom, the kingdom that was unlimited moon rocks and the power to mine and sell them, and basically he refuses to sell them, hoarding all of the moon power for himself, so Mario has to go confront and fight him. In a cutscene similar to the beginning of Mario odyssey, Mario loses, and all the moon power hoarded by bowser shoots the moon into the earth. The moon completely transforms the earth and shoots 100s of new power moons out into the world, but also bowser has fused with all the power moons, becoming some sort of moon rock titan bowser, so Mario will travel through all the old and now ruined and transformed kingdoms and 10 or so new kingdoms to restore peace to each of them and dearest bowser again.
While there isn’t a new gimmick in this game, basically everything you knew about Mario odyssey is fundamentally changed so it kind of works as it’s gimmick, idk, lmk what you think.
I like a sequel that would be true to the original. I don’t think a gimmick is necessary. I hated the it takes two idea in the vide
Maybe for the next Nintendo Console we could get Mario Odyssey Deluxe, A New One, A 3D Maker, and an Online based game.
I think if they take the gameplay from Odyssey, ideas from Bowser's Fury's inventory system, and focus on making a more interconnected and alive world, Nintendo could have something amazing on their hands
I want more bowsers fury. I absolutely loved odyssey for the movement so if you could marry that movement with bowser fury world I would be stoked

I can't believe they never made a Mario & DK game. I mean a plattformer, not that puzzle one. It could be 2D or 3D, provided that you can play as both Mario and DK. Maybe some stages would be DK focused and other more Mario based. Or maybe you could play with one or the other with diferent abilities. I know it will never happen, but I can dream...

I hope the next 3D Mario game is open world just like Bowser's Fury.
It's been leaked that the new 3D Mario was already finished. Apparently, in this game, it will be 3 (or 4 i dont remember) bigger than all Odyssey Kingdoms and it will take around 10 months to beat. And DK is a character in that game,tho the leaker doesn't know how exactly he's rekated to the game.

Idk, if you just wanna screw around with friend id say mario party but if you want a mainline mario experience I'd say 3dworld
3D world, because you won’t be able to always play Mario party because your friends won’t always be around
They’re not making Odyssey 2. It’s been too long at this point, and direct sequels shouldn’t take six or seven years to develop.
3D Marios have historically only taken about 2-3 years to make, while Odyssey took about 3.5 years. The next game being in development this long tells me it’s probably going to be something entirely new, not a direct sequel to anything.
Whatever they’re cooking, it’s going to be an exclusive for their Switch successor, as they’ve really got nothing else. It’s too soon for a new Zelda, too soon for Splatoon, and the EPD Tokyo team’s been awfully quiet since 2017.

3D World is a sequel to 3D Land
I think 2025 would be a perfect time to release it given that’s the 40th anniversary of the series.
The next 3D Mario game should be something special. Odyssey was an amazing game. it was the next step or the 64 formula. but compare it with Breath of the Wild, a game that opened a new chapter for the Zelda series. The next 3D Mario game has to try much harder

The thing that icks me about Odyssey is that there were NO returning kindoms. Isle Delfino and Sarasaland were scrapped concepts. I feel like there won't be a sequel at this point.
Technically, those aren’t even kingdoms. Isle Delfino is a tropical island and Sarasaland is an empire.
Obviously there won’t be a sequel. Only the 2D games get “sequels”. The only reason Galaxy got a sequel is due to the team having so many ideas that they couldn’t fit in Galaxy 1, so they ended up making Galaxy 2.

I wouldn't call Oddyseyy bad, but for the amount of content it has, it sure gets boring fast.
Me personally, I prefer a more deep game, like Galaxy. It doesn't try too hard to have a complex story, but the atmosphere and music tell a story just by itself. That's just my opinion tho. I'm biased from nostalgia.
There's so much they could do so to just go for adding a game with as much content as Oddyseyy that's ALREADY gotten stale would be a crime. Perhaps as a smaller release but it does NOT need to be Nintendo's representation of the new era we're entering.
