Surprised no-one has mentioned this was written and produced by Pet Shop Boys. Breathy 80s synth-pop - I love it. A Top 10 hit all across Europe in 1988 (including the UK).
I like the Pet shop boys version
Seriously when are they gonna play New Orleans is Sinking by Tragically Hip??????????
Because people don't care about important details like that anymore.
I did know that the song was produced by the Pet Shop Boys. But the style of the video reminded me of the Pet Shop Boys.
Nope, but I imagined something about'em hearing this song.
Patsy Kensit is an English Actress , she was in Lethal Weapon 2 with Mel Gibson & Danny Glover , she was also in Renegades 2022 , she has over 100 film & tv credits to her name . she started as child actress . she's been married 4 times and all her husbands are musicians . JIm Kerr lead singer of Simple Minds , Liam Gallagher of Oasis , Dan Donovan of Big Audio Dynamite & Jeremy Healey of Haysi Fantayzee .
Oh my gosh! I've never heard this before but as I was watching it, I thought she looked like the girl in Lethal Weapon! I was right!! 😀
Patsy Kensit is in Lethal Weapon 2 for sure, but not in 1! 🤔 Sorry! 🤷🏻♂️✌🏼
She was also in the film absolute beginners, which featured the title track by David Bowie.
Yes you are right , my bad lol @@pietergreveling
Her father was a British gangster and close associate of both the Kray Twins and the Richardson Gang, earning himself the nickname "Jimmy the Dip", and was involved in the Great Train Robbery. The Great Train Robbery was the robbery in1963 of £2.61 million, (about £61 million today) from a Royal Mail train, the most famous robber was Ronnie Biggs. The film Buster which starred Phil Collins as Buster tells the whole story and is a good film with some of Phil's famous songs in it.
Confused dog head 🤣 With the smile he's thinking I'm tolerating this 🤣
This is a banger🎉
Pet Shop Boys wrote this one and their version is on their 1988 album. PSBs were doing some great work with female singers around this time (Dusty Springfield, Liza Minelli, Patsy Kensit...).
Patsy's vocals are fairly unique, breathy. She formed this band with her brother. She went on to have a successful TV and movie career and is still a celebrity in Ireland /UK. This song is a forgotten gem from the 80s.
I highly recommend other Pet Shop Boys collaborations they did with other artists. The biggest two being 'What Have I Done To Deserve This' with the legend Dusty Springfield and also 'Losing My Mind' with Liza Minnelli.
Couldn't agree more, 'What Have I Done To Deserve This' is a brilliant song in particular.
Patsy Kensit is better known to US audiences for starring in Lethal Weapon 2. That's the only reason I ever heard from the group, which also features her brother Jamie. She turned 20 a month after this was released, so she's 19 here.
Total Debbie Harry vibes!!!
She was in Lethal Weapon 2 with Mel Gibson.
Wow, an artist and song from the 80s I never heard.
Never charted in the US.
@@blackblake3658 plus I was still in the 70s musically for the most part. But even today, I am still discovering music I've never heard from back in the day. Sometimes on the RSR Fam channel like today.
William...no great loss.
(almost) none of us heard. and with good reason tbh.
@@brucedillinger9448 I'm simply grateful to see today's generation reaction to the music I grew up with and loved.
Beautiful Patsy grow up in Hounslow London. Her Dad was associated with the notorious Kray twins, Reggie being her Godfather. Made her debut on TV with a Birds Eye Pea advert.
Still think you should check out Hazel O'Connor's 1981 hit "Will You" for the stunning sax solo and the lyrics. Also Transvision Vamp - Baby i don't Care & Altered Images - Don't talk to me about love or for the fun of it their breakthrough hit Happy Birthday (which not a cover of the Stevie Wonder song).
Patsy Kensit was a child actress and appeared in films and commercials. Married 4 times to musicians including Jim Kerr from Simple Minds and Liam Gallagher from Oasis. Later a tv actress appearing on British soap dramas. This song was written and produced by Pet Shop Boys. The other biggest hit was Cross my Heart.
She played the South African love interest in Lethal Weapon 2.🔫🔫🔫
I really LOVE this song (even to this day). The Pet Shop Boys wrote it--you can hear that melancholy dark pop sound--but this version is so good.
This is in fact the original version. It was produced and written by the Pet Shop Boys, who later made their own 7+ minute version in the album 'Introspective' The PSB version never came out as a single though.
Looking for someone new for female Friday? Ever heard of Basia? She was big in the early 90’s. Incredible backstory, she grew up in Soviet occupied Poland where western music was illegal! She only had Polish folk music and her parents smuggled in Latin and jazz albums to listen too. When She was 18 She risked her life to escape by stowing away on a freighter bound for England. She has a sound like no other, She is literally a genre of one. With an absolute gift for melody and harmony. Please trust me…you will fall in love. She has a very large catalog of wonderful music. I would suggest you check out her first hit called “ Tide and Time” followed by “ Promises” and “ Cruising for Bruising” and there are many ,many more. You won’t be disappointed
I'd like to recommend three other lady led bands for female Friday.
"Crash" by The Primitives (Tracy Tracy)
"Martha's Harbour" by All About Eve (Julianne Regan)
"I don't want a lover" by Texas (Charleen Spiteri)
Enjoy 😊
Martha’s Harbour YES
Christina Aguilera - Ain't No Other Man - Candy Man (Both Great Horns !!) Also - Lady Marmalad
Annie Lenox (Eurythmics) - Would I Lie to You - I Need a Man - Thorn in My Side
Gwen Stefanie - It's My Life - What You Waiting For - Don't Speak
Head Pins - Don't it Make You Feel (like Dancing) - Turn it Loud - Just One More Time
Toronto - Your Daddy Don't Know - Start Telling the Truth
They have probably heard those. They react to music they haven't heard before.
@@blackblake3658 Yes I know .... and I know for a Fact that they didn't hear or react to the ones that are listed above!!
I was a young teen when Eight Wonder came to Italy. Patsy Kensit had a revealing wardrobe malfunction which became famous in my country. My friends and I started calling her "Diopters huntress". Who knows it, knows it...😂😂😂
Unforgettable.
Their "Cross my heart " song is more upbeat and catchy ,, but i really love this one too.
°°°Just wanted to let you know tomorrow is Elvis Day. It's actually ELVIS WEEK AT GRACELAND.
A suggestion..
..Rock-a-Hula Ira from Blue Hawaii. (Those poor people in those fires.) Just a heads up..
It is all the imitated campy over blown Elvis moves..PLUS....The cheesiest Elvis ending ever! You still can't help but llove it!!
You'll never forget it once you've seen it.
LONG LIVE THE KING!
Love from Bklyn...~Red
Loved it. Huge UK and European hit. She's better known as an actress and was once married to one of the Gallagher brothers from Oasis. Very Pet Shop Boys and you need to do a lot more of them. Great choice.
She also married Jim Kerr from simple Minds.
this genre is italo-disco
if you “don’t get it”; this is supposed to be a disco/dance/club song. Lyrics are of secondary importance. The atmosphere and feeling of the song is what’s important. Instrumental version of this is just as fine as a dance song (which this is) but of course her voice makes it MUCH better. So, if you are getting hung up on the lyrics and trying to find a meaning, you are missing the whole point of what the purpose of the song is.
In fact, in only a small percentage of songs in this genre lyrics are important. One such song that comes to my mind right now is Robert Bravo - Keep On Driving.
It is a tribute song about F1 driver Gilles Villeneuve, who died in a crash.
Americans don’t really know this genre, because it never became popular in the US, but was pretty much everywhere else in the 80s.
Oh by the way, she is also an actress
Thanks. That actually makes much more sense now.
This is a remake of a Pet Shop Boys song (that I think they produced for her), but here in the US she never really went anywhere with music. She's really pretty minor singer and she didn't last very long, and neither did Eighth Wonder
She hated the music industry, though, so that's the main reason for Eighth Wonder's short run.
@@dermot2747 She's also not a very good singer.
80 90 best years Happy life.the music of the 80s and 90s can never be compared with the music of today, other times were simpler and happier, they will never return again. Anyone who hasn't experienced it has missed something great
When I saw the thumbnail, I said, "that looks like the girl from Lethal Weapon 2".
And it is! 😱
Crazy elephant " Gimme Gimme good loving" one of the best 60's hip shaking music!!
Lol, Jay describes his confused look and Amber says “ you look at me like that a lot.” He wisely moves on without comment.😂
try “Cross my heart “ by them 😎🤟🏻
It sounded like a pack of coyotes, eating an old tire.
😂
😭
This is one of those songs that gets lost and a rarity. Haven't heard this in a couple decades and forgot about it. Didn't make a huge impact on the charts but you definitely hear the Pet Shop Boys influence on this.
They wrote it x
I'd never heard it at all. It reminds me a lot of Two of Hearts.
It was a top 10 hit in the UK.
if this is a popular or well known group and song it must have been so either in Europe or Australia - would bet that very few American music listeners or fans ever heard of this song
I don't recall ever hearing this song in Australia, but the singer is English so I assume that's where it was popular.
I'd recommend "Cross My Heart" by this group. It was a big hit in Europe and peaked in the 50s on the US pop chart.
That's Patsy Kensit. Model who was married to Liam Gallagher (Oasis)
1988
Patsy was married to four different rock stars. The last one was Jeremy Healy. He was in a band called Hasi Fantayzi, who had a couple of hits in the early 80s that you might enjoy - "John Wayne Is Big Leggy" and "Shiny Shiny".
Healy was also a pretty good House DJ back in the day. He rocked Cream a few times.
After seeing the flood of requests, I now know I'll never get any of mine played. I also inow it's a lousy idea to send multiple requests at one time. How they sort through all this mess is beyond me.
No she is not scared, she is ablolutely gorgeous ! Fub f&act : Patsy Kensit plays the main female character in the movie : Leathal weapon 2
It was a big hit in the U.K. I love this track
Amber...sometimes you're too kind. Lol!
you reacted to lethal weapon part two starring mel gibson and danny glover. she acted in this movie and she was the love interest of mel in the movie.
this song was written by the pet shop boys.
she has another amazing song named (cross my heart) written by stock, aitken and waterman, the ones who wrote never gonna give you up for rick astley plus a very huge number of hits.
Where do they get their suggestions from? But I suppose its worldwide so ok 😁
Thanks Amber & Jay - I confess I hadn’t heard this before any enjoyed it. When you are ready to to return to a less “produced” sound there are several other women artists that really deserve your attention. I think that you have only reacted to ONE Mary Chapin Carpenter song. She has 17 albums ? and still going strong. 5 Grammies, 4 times best female vocal artist….you see where I’m going. Singer / songwriter that is a poet- lyrics are central to fully appreciating her. Beyond that, she defies being categorized like many artists that you have reacted to who have widely varied songs and surprise you with things that you just don’t expect. Try studio version of Rhythm of the Blues, This Shirt, He Thinks He’ll Keep Her, Stones in the Road, Jubilee, Almost Home, or perhaps a live version of Why Walk When You Can Fly, or Why Shouldn’t We on UA-cam. Both of those come with brief comments from her about the songs at the beginning. Mary is a journey that once you open yourself up to, you’ll just keep going and going and going. You’ll be giving ALOT of people what they want….
Ooh! Yes, please!
Throw in We Traveled So Far while you're at it.
Good choice, never made it big in the States but they were bigger in the UK. She sounds a little like Madonna a some of their songs. Please please react to Swing Out Sister soon (female Friday after all), "Breakout," "Waiting Game," "Am I The Same Girl", or "La La Mean I Love You." Corrine Drewery's voice is great!
They'd love Am I the Same Girl!
I remember this one from 1988 I think. This is a good one, typical eighties with original vocals. Another very good eighties female was Alison Moyet-try 'Love Resurrection'-Colin Ward
They were also produced by micheal Jay who later produced Martikas debut
I'd never heard of this group before. However, the lead singer looked so familiar to me. Looked her up. Now I know why she looks familiar. She played Mel Gibson's love interest in Lethal Weapon 2. Neat. Lol.
"Cross My Heart" is the Eighth Wonder song with which I'm familiar. Inlike this one, though. It has a Pet Shop Boys sound, and that is one of my big-time favorite 80s groups.
Please, please, please Nanci Griffith!! So many songs to choose from, both fast and slow. How bout "Lone Star State of Mind", "Listen to the Radio", "Banks of the Pontchartrainz" or for a slow song, "Love at the Five and Dime " live at the BBC. Another great artist is Suzy Boggus and the song "Someday Soon".
"it's weirdly cool". Yep, that's the Pets alright
“Breakout” by Swing Out Sister would be a good one for Female Friday.
A Pet shop boys song, they made their own version on their album Introspective ❤
It'd be great if they reacted to the PSB version too.
Love this track, I was 15 when it came out '88 😊❤
I guess 3 legends in one Female Friday was too much to hope for! This one didn’t cut it; a Debbie Harry lookalike, without the talent.
Better Dolly and Celine songs.
Oh and she was married to both Jim Kerr of Simple Minds and Liam Gallagher of Oasis
Eighth Wonder charted 2 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1988 & 1989. The same 2 tunes ("Cross My Heart" & Baby Baby") charted on the Dance chart. This is not one of those tunes.
those 2 singles charted at #56 and #84 respectively
Another great Eighth Wonder song - Cross My Heart :)
Have you ever reacted to Missing Persons? Early 80s female lead singer. Songs: words, destination unknown...
I would suggest checking out a band called Hurricane, very underrated 80s hard rock band, songs to start with are Hurricane, Temptation, Spark in My Heart, It's Only Heaven, and Over the Edge
Pet Shop Boys - you haven't touched the surface with these legends.
Oh my! I had forgotten all about this one. Its quite strange, but it was a hit! In The UK at least. Lead singer is Patsy Kensit, who started out as a child actor, and still is acting today. She was in "Leathal Weapon 2" with Mel Gibson & Danny Glover. Those are movies you need to get on your "Films to watch" list. Real action movies with a comedic undertone. ❤🎼🎬💙
You should do more 80's actors that want to sing, Don Johnson and Eddie Murphy "Party All the Time"
They already reacted to Eddie Murphy a few months ago, but I don't think they've done Don Johnson yet.
@@hellokimmy68 Your right they did and I even gave it a thumbs up.
Don't forget Bruce Willis' "Respect Yourself" LOL
@@shari_m925 oh my. I had forgotten that one. Ha!
This was written and produced by Pet Shop Boys. Patsy Kensit is a British actress and she is now really embarrassed about doing this.
She should be. It's sophomoric.
I forgot about this record, nice vibe to it.
Does anyone remember her appearance in Haircut 100's Nobody's fool video?
The absolute best cover of the song "Have Love, Will Travel" was done by The Sonics in 1965. It's a must listen. Very underrated band
Come on Amber and give these awesome singers some love at least once.... Check out Stephanie Mills hits "I Feel Good All Over" " Comfort Of A Man" and the duet with Teddy Pendergrass "Feel the Fire" Still waiting on you to do other awesome soul singers like Phyllis Hyman(Living All Alone) and the most powerful singer Jennifer Holliday(And I'm Telling You) Betty Wright "No Pain No Gain" Lisa Fisher "How Do I Ease the Pain" Sylvia "Pillow Talk" Angela Winbush "Angel" Evelyn Champaign King "Shame"
Jennifer Holliday would be great. Lisa Fisher How Can I Ease the Pain has been requested so much. And she would be new.
I don’t know which video to post this comment, it is a REQUEST! The song is “Wild Wild West” by the Escape Club from 1988. Amber, it has great horns!
Did you ever hear that girl Christian Bale? I'm typing her name's Christian Bale? She's so lovely, she's got dark hair lot scan, she sings for song with rod Rod Stewart. It's don't wanna I don't wanna talk about it. Christian Dale and Rod Stewart take out the orchestra going oh my, oh my. Oh, yeah, that's some real stuff at the third girl. I'll tell you how much oh my yeah it's here
You need to put that in on the wide screen. Cause that girl is so good looking. I'll tell you hot, I'll talk to smith those findings after she sang that song
Rod Stewart and Christian Bale, a song, is called I'm thinking her name's Kristen bale, she's lovely, she's slim, got dark hair, white skin, she's a hot girl, white baby love like beautiful sinks of saying something I don't want to talk about. It I don't want to talk about it. That's the song Christian Bale Rod Stewart? But anyway, that's got a orchestra going. And that orchestra sounds good too, and her and rod. Sounds good, I'll come on, it's all coming together. Say all the stars is there on and I'll gosh
Sometimes you know, brother, you get hit hard, you know, you're tripping hard, you just need to dive in our brother and enjoy your ride. Doppin and joy and joy, Christian Bale and Rod Stewart doing auto. Don't want to I don't want to talk about it
If you're just kind of flattered, I'm a suggest. Hey, I might suggest at a soccer delic. Mushrooms dance are dead at that year, all right
Patsy Kensit had the lead female role in one of the Lethal Weapon movies as Mel Gibsons gf, the one with Joss Ackland in it.
No, its not meant to be "futuristic", it was just influenced by House Music, The Pet Shop Boys, and the success of Vanessa Paradis songs around that time.
Omg, never realized Patsy Kensit was the singer of this! 😂
Surprised Amber hasn't listened to Motown Legend Junior Walker and the All Stars, with her ❤ of the sax. "
What does it take" Roadrunner " "Shotgun "..etc
Or actual saxophonists who were popular in the 80s, Kenny G, David Sanborn, Najee.
Before I go to my grave, you need to react to Tina S, playing Beethoven Moonlight Sonata 3rd Movement for Female Friday or anytime. She was born in France in 1999 and was 17 when she made the video. She has disappeared for some time, but I have heard she is back, or coming back. She was mostly a cover artist, but if you want to experience what a woman can do with a guitar, you have to check out Tina S, playing Beethoven Moonlight Sonata 3rd Movement.
Just a suggestion for you, you should do a video to The Passions - I'm In Love With A German Film Star'. The singer was Babara Gogan who needs a mention on your channel. The first 50 seconds of the song had some excellent guitar work. The echoing will just take you away to another place. It's a great song.
She was married to one of the Gallagher brothers from Oasis

Talking of the Pet Shop Boys you need to listen to Dusty Springfield's In Private. One of the best Tennant and Lowe compositions.
Just found Lianne La Havas - Forget | A Take Away Show. Amazing solo female performance.
I grew up in the 80s and am obsessed with the 80's. I've never heard this song before. 🤔 It's pretty good. How haven't I heard this, though?
You must live in a coal bunker if you grew up in the 80's and never heard this.
@@RITWINS Don't think it was a hit in the U.S.
@@garibaldi54 Ah right, yes I am in the UK.
SUGGESTION: Here's a TOTAL BANGER for you, 1964 surf hit CHROME REVERSED RAILS by PHIL AND THE FLAKES. Jordan will love this one (so will Amber)
I know that you have listened to Tanya Tucker Delta Dawn, but she has another song that's been overlooked that I find very emotional and that "What's Your Momma's Name?"
Haven't heard of the name Patsy Kensit in a long time. Interesting that she did music. I highly request this suggestion: Freestyle--Don't Stop The Rock. Trust me, you'll want to hear it. Thanks!
Check out
Eric Clapton - Pilgrim
Queen - Princes of the Universe
Hootie & the Blowfish - Hold my Hand
Local H - Bound to the Floor

All bangers, you may have heard before.
If you wanna hear some amazing blues music definitely check out the album version of Marc Broussard - Home.
An absolute 80s classic. And some really clever lyrics.
If you want to give this group another try I would recommend the follow-up to this "Cross My Heart". It's a lot more dancey and catchy and probably a lot more up especially Jay's alley.
SOME COOL SONG CHOICES WORTH CHECKING OUT
1 Strip by Adam Ant
2 Living on the Ceiling by Blancmange
3 Let’s Dance by David Bowie
4 My Jamaican Guy by Grace Jones
5 Temptation by Heaven 17
6 Louise by The Human League
7 Suddenly Last Summer by The Motels
8 New York, New York by Nina Hagen
9 Indian Giver by The Ramones

Don't hold your breath. I have no idea how they pick songs, most of them are so obscure or they just repeat the same artists over and over
@@JohnnyXoz Agreed. So many REAL classics they haven't touched yet they waste their time on ephemera like this. They need a vetting system!
Débarrassez moi de ces chiens avant qu'ils ne mordent.
In english it means "keep me away from these dogs before they bite"
At the end "j'ai pas peur" means "i'm not scared" .
Greetings from France.
Good song written by Pet Shop Boys. I like their version a LOT better.
Grace Jones, Patti Smith, Sandy Denning, Marianne Faithful, Kate Bush. So many so many.
Please react to KISS unplugged live....STILL LOVE YOU....iconic Paul STANLEY vocals in front of LIVE AUDIENCE....ENJOY AND THANK YOU GUYS!
That would be a good one for them to do the whole show. Knowing the back story of how all 4 originals got back together almost 20 years later too
His vocals are incredible on that live version👏👏👏
Cross my heart is also another good song this one did came to the US 1988. By eight wonder.
She was in Lethal Weapon 2 with Mel Gibson & Danny Glover.
Patsy was a living doll.
I would love to see your reaction to Walking on Sunshine by Katrina and the Waves,👏👏
A Pet Shop Boys production masterpiece
One of my fave songs from my childhood :)
Still love this song, I used to listen to it on long road trips to my grandparents I'd wind down the window and pretend to be a popstar with the wind blowing on my face and singing out the window lol. A suggestion for Female Friday is my favourite 80's female lead singer from the band Transvision Vamp "Baby I Don't Care" and "I Want your Love" Wendy James has an incredible voice.
I wish you would have done Tori Amos..Winter…live it’s beautiful
Waterboys whole of the Moon
My top 3 foxiest female Uk singers from the 80's :1. Sade
2. Patsy Kensit
3. Annie lennox
Dodi Steavens Pink Shoelaces
I remember this song but couldn't figure out it was this one when reading the artist name or song. I like the sound in the background. If you like softly spoken lolita songs, you can check out "Be My Baby" by Vanessa Paradis. She is the ex-girlfriend of Johnny Depp and also Lenny Kravitz. She's French, but she had a few songs in English. I don't know how popular her song was in the US. The video helps too!
Ex wife and mother of his kids.
