I don't even like Bloober team, but the new footage is getting me optimistic. I think it looks good so far! We'll see when the game is out.

I'm just now sitting down and re-watching the trailers (almost at 6am) and the more I watch them the more I find myself impressed by them. I LOVE the jittery frame rate they use for when the lying figures are crawling on the ground that's such a nice touch. The only thing I found mildly concerning is some of the lighting and shadows in the graveyard scene with Angela but the rest of the footage is mostly in dark areas and they all look great. Feels amazing to be anticipating re-experiencing SH2 all over again in only 4 months!
People ragging on it for it's gameplay when the original was known for how clunky it was. As long as the story, performance and atmosphere is good I will have no complaints.

@@sumstuff6956 it actually was. the game released in 2001, the gameplay wasn’t very complex or in-depth. combat was extremely clunky, which the original games became famous for, because it lent to the overall atmosphere. clunky gameplay is a hallmark in horror games, in general, esp if the protagonist is an everyman.

Very fair. Although I don't have any issues with what I've seen from how the combat works mechanically I do have issues with the animations. The in-betweens can look kinda choppy and stiff. Doesn't fill me with confidence that it will be very polished feeling on launch, especially with Konami's history of crunching devs and rushing out games before they're finished.
@@sumstuff6956 I don't know what Silent Hill 2 on (PS2) you played but it definitely wasn't the one I played. The was 100% clunky. Hit detection, tank controls, some puzzles etc.
At last someone who is optimistic about it and not complaining about every detail. I think it looks great for the most part

10:28 On the contrary, If there was any enemy from silent hill 2 i'd expect to see crawling through a window to attack you, it'd DEFINITELY be the lying figures, Remember, in the original, those guys really did just sometimes crawl out from nowhere, usually from the underside of vehicles. adding more ways for one to just appear and spook you seems pretty fitting for them.
The little Detail of how Laura put a pep in her sprint was really nice

My dream came true with a SH 2 Remake i cannot believe this is real atm.
I do think some people are being overly harsh with what we've seen considering the source material and people's (understandable) dislike for Bloober. But given what we're seeing right now and ignoring my own bias, I think it looks pretty good over all. The gameplay looks about on the same level as AW2, and I'm enjoying the voice acting and visuals. I have nothing to say about the depiction of the story since I think it's unfair to make that judgement at this time but if Bloober can handle it respectfully and tactfully, we could have a pretty solid experience on our hands. Maybe not GOTY, but something enjoyable to play.

Honestly with how rough the first trailer looked, I think this was a great preview and I'm actually rather excited for it
I think it looks great! They nailed the most important and that's the atmosphere. The dense fog, and the Hospital were so spot on, creature design looks great, combat is good considering SH never had the best combat, the sound design minus the guns sounds excellent, faithful music, really good VA, and I like how faithful it is, yet has some small changes to keep things fresh without taking away anything that made the original great. This was a great showing!

Atmosphere looks amazing especially with the fog and puddles. The gun gameplay is alright, the sounds for the guns are still questionable
I love it so far ❤ it feels old and new at the same time. I hope all the feelings are the same too, like the backstorys of the other characters.

I agree however that’s how most game trailers look with low frame rates so when it’s released it’s most likely gonna be 60fps.

I would absolutely buy a PS5 for this game! This and for FF16. I’m not familiar with the original SH2 and I don’t plan on playing it, so this remake would be by introduction to the series.

*deep breath* I'm so fkn hyped! this will be my first Bloober game, but I'm sure it won't disappoint me nor the og's (can't say the same abt the newcomers 😅). the graphics, the acting, the gameplay and atmosphere *chef's kiss* can't wait to experience this horror masterpiece again on Oct 6; and I have a feeling you're going to enjoy it too (as long as you avoid the combat lol). ign 8/10 🤞🏻
If this is your first bloober game then dont get your hopes up, they have a respectable reputation but not a reputation worthy of handling a game that is considered horror royalty, they have had success with their games but they are always unambitious and very derivative, basically they play things extremely safe and a lot of people find their games boring because of that.
Also..:the pacing is so good. The cutscenes suck you in instantly because it the acting is so good and the environment is so creepy you don’t know what’s gonna happen next.

I hope it contains the multiple endings being able to do multiple stuff to get them,also unlock weapons and trying to find them like sh1 with the chainsaw,aside of that it looks really great,hope it sells well in order to see the most wanted Silent Hill 1 and Zero later.
It does, they mentioned in the transmission in the interview segment with the Devs that certain things you do will affect which ending you get

Looks beautiful, I have high hopes, looks like this game is gonna be a huge sucess, every character has been greatly improved, specially Laura and Maria, they looked like sh*t in the og. The only character we have not seen is Eddy. Laura voice sounds more mature, og sounded more spoiled and childish. Angela needs to be improved a bit and Maria looks fine. The combat could be improved but it looks good already, the atmosphere is astonishing
I think this looks great.
The only thing that looks a little bit weird to me is how the melee weapons magically appear and disappear during combat or at 3:51.
It's just a bit weird after the RE remakes and Alan Wake 2, where you can see the weapon on the character's back.

Most games do that, it's just hard to notice when playing. You really only see it modern games with big budgets. Alan Wake 2 being an exception because Remedy are masters of detail. And yes believe it or not AW2 was a pretty low budget game comparatively speaking. Still a lot of money to a regular person, but the budget was about 70 million for the game and marketing which is well below the standard for AAA games today

Bloober Team has made an effort! I am delighted with this Remake. I love the atmosphere. I'm already looking forward to the release.
The game looks pretty good so far, the combat's a little clunky but it wasn't smooth in the original version either, and they're changing enough to keep things interesting.
Honest to god I think some Silent Hill fans just got addicted to being miserable. I've been playing this series since I was 16 on the original PS2, started with SH2. I played every game through Downpour. I lived through the Pachinko and Book of Memories era. This is NOT the Dark Times that the social media fans would have you believe.

Definetly the best trailer they shown so far. I'm still pretty unsure about the combat system and some animations look stiff, but other than that, i have a better aproach now that we saw gameplay. Also thr the town and enviroments looks INSANELY good

Its suppose to be a psychological thriller game. It will.never be good as original but its something. Im surprised with all the negative viewpoints about this game. It just shows how everyone wants too much perfection.
I honestly don't know what to think. I haven't been this ambivalent about a game in a while. I'm still in the camp that thinks SH2 doesn't need a remake, and shouldn't have one, but there are aspect of the trailer and this gameplay trailer, especially that actually aren't that bad.

Looks so good! My only SEMI sticking point is like… the “hollywoodization” of all the line deliveries/acting choices. Feels a little too … maybe safe? or forced? It’s hard to explain. It’s like horror acting 101. Just my opinion I know im weird 😂
I think they're still going for the weird feeling the OG cutscenes went for, but they're different people now so it's gonna sound off. Idk, maybe it'll be okay in proper context! :D

I’m so excited for this game. I think people are expecting a RE type remake. SH is NOT re!! The protagonist is just a normal guy. Combat isn’t supposed to be incredible. It’s about story and atmosphere.
You’re always allowed to be excited for something that looks good to you. Don’t let negative dumbfucks ruin your enthusiasm!
Personally im really on the fence about this, i don’t know if i like it or not. I think what i’ll do is continue playing the original and finish it, then i’ll wait for reviews to come out for the remake before i buy it

Basically the only thing I wasn't a fan of was angela's face and how here sweater was bugging out in the trailer. The gameplay trailer was surprisingly good though. I honestly don't know why people are screaming about it being clunky or too slow. Maybe it's because I'm comparing it to other silent hill games, but the combat looked pretty well thought out and smooth when it came to switching from ranged to melee. Also the enemies are tough and they made it a point to show that ammo is also scarce so it looks like it's also encouraging the avoiding the monsters aspect that was supposed to be in the original but no one did because you could easily bonk everything to death on normal mode.
The cutscenes look great, but a few things jump out to me in the gameplay portions.
Sometimes it looks like the character models don't belong in the environment and it's especially jarring coming after a cutscene. It might be a lighting issue.
The faces have good and bad moments, but what bothered me the most were the monster textures. Compared to the environment, they look low-poly and painted on as opposed to designed.
The gameplay was always just sort of there so it doesn't matter much to me, but it looks like the average Steam indie horror compared to RE2 Remake.
The backgrounds and models do look different, i agree, but i don't think they look low poly. Just different. I wonder if it's intentional.
@@Runebee I have my theories related to how much of the environment is Unreal Engine doing it's thing with assets vs. what they had to make from scratch. It's just guesses at this point, though.
The low poly comment is mostly related to the first Lying Figure encounter with it's texture and the acid.
I like what I'm seeing overall, even the basic mechanics of the combat look pretty okay to me. However, I do think that the animations and his body proportions look odd. It's like his neck is not attached to his shoulders and the swinging animations look like someone is puppeteering a mannequin. The running animation is oddly bouncy as well. It's almost as if they could only afford to mocap the actors' faces and had to settle with using stock animation rigs for their body movement, hence the wiry/gangly arms. If I was Bloober I would maybe try and fix that if in any way possible. Walking and moving around is one of the most important things to get right since that's what you spend doing most of the time in these types of games.

Biggest pro and con for me. Fog looks perfect. And Angela just does not look or sound right at all. I'm sure it could be a personal thing, but her being my favorite character in the game I'm very bothered by this imposter pretending to be her lol
In fact, the game will be released on October 6, but if you're not too rich and don't pay more, you won't play until two days after the release. Unfortunately, this speaks very badly of the game publishers, it is a sign of disrespect for us - the players. This is going in a very bad direction, I'm afraid it will get worse and worse.
I ike how they said faithfully remade in the original vision but they changed Maria design to be less sexy which literally is the whole point of her character. So they did kinda lie there but I would hope they would make her more attractive, because I mean its kinda essentially to who she is as a character and what it does to the story and the players.
They seem well-intentioned and passionate about the remake, but then they miss some blatant symbolism. Makes ya wonder if they ever understood Maria? We'll just have to wait and see cause maybe there's context for the changes!

@@Runebee I guess it was because SH2 was the most famous SH game among the fans. The announcement of the SH2R could draw the attention of the fans as much as possible. If the Remake project becomes a success, they will be confident enough to remake the other games. If it becomes a failure, the reputation of SH2 will cover their loss as much as possible. The Konami is the most capitalist gaming company, what really matters to them is merely the commercial profit, not how the fans think about them, and that’s why so many people hate them so much.
Is Silent Hill supposed to have this Resident Evil-ish vibes? I havent played the game but watched a few clips here and there and I thought it was more a eerie/story driven game.

And the original feels and looks old nowadays, just replayed it on my PS2 last week and it really shows its age... this looks much scarier.

Its not even about wanting the og/hating remakes/ etc. I know I havent played the game but even just watching several playthroughs I can sense that the remake lacks something. Not to mention how they butchered Maria's design with too much censorship, shes supposed to look sexy, cunty and serve with her looks but they turned her to a bland businesswoman. Silent Hill 2 is THE best psychological Horror Game ever made and my all Time favorite. I really hope they don't mess this up and fix Things before it releases, it would be such a shame 😔

I have one recommendation. The devs should significantly tune down the shaky cam during combat or grapple with enemies. Few players like shaky cam. Shaky cam makes player feel sick and makes what happening in the screen unclear. It feels cheap as shaky cam is often used to conceal bad combat animations/particle effects by indie games. If the devs team in Silent Hill Remake is confident with their animation and game engine, they should reduce the shaky cam to at least shaking less than the actual character movements (so everything on the screen stays clear).

I don't mind them changing scenes like where James finds the radio. Cause we've seen that in resident evil remakes.
It looks descent for a video game but it looks cheap, animations dont conect properly, thats why it looks so janky. And then the overall representation of the core silent hill 2 experience seems diluted, its hard to replicate a product that ended up being art. Honestly, silent hill its not only a video game.

The funny part is, this is a game where janky animations can work. They only had to focus the entire animation budget on James and let the monsters twist and convulse in weird ways - it would actually be more faithful to the original!
I just think Bloober Team reached their skill ceiling. They're not exceptional game developers, and this looks amazing for their standards. Which is why i'm so surprised and optimistic now lmao. We'll see! SH2 is very special.

Bloober completely missed the point, all the subtlety is gone, the game focusing on the wrong aspects like putting the combat first. The voice acting seems bored and tired. All of the psychological horror has been stripped, and the cardinal sin of modern horror games with protags narrating every single event like its an audiobook is obnoxious.

The game isn't out yet. The video you commented on is focusing on atmosphere and cutscenes, not combat. So i don't even think you know what you're angry about. Or you're a bot.
Dude, the game looks amazing! They're trying to recruit the new audience while trying to please the og's...not an easy task. Give it a chance, and if you don't like it, you can go back and play the og.
The only issue is you can't really play the og in any official way. Unless you own a ps2, xbox or the HD trilogy. It's on no modern storefront. The only real accessible is free online while using the free fan made fixes. There's no real reliable way to play these on modern consoles.
@@Runebee definitely not a bot, played this when In 2001 when the game released, and 20+ years later I still find new things and nuance to the story and characters, Its very easy to see the passion is not there, that the devs don't understand the core of what this game was about, and that Konami is just using this as a way to revive their IP to sell merch. SH2 was a passion project, watch the development of the game if you haven't already, because these weren't people motivated by money or told by corporate what had to be in the game. All this will be at best is a pale shadow, and at worst will ruin the impact the original had. Konami hasn't made SH2 available in any readily accessible way, so its either find a copy that's $100 on ebay, or pirate it and play the enhanced edition. This version is going to be the one in people's minds, and when its forgotten in 6 months, it will be konami and bloobers fault, and the people who gave them a chance when they have not earned it.

@@Runebee The character redesigns look awful. The lighting is off. The multi-camera angles that created so many iconic camera shots is now gone for a generic, modern camera. There's way too many modern game design elements like the red flashing around the screen. The art design does not have that SH vibe at all.

Silent hill franchise has been pretty meh/bad since after like part 3 or 4 lol. They did just release a micro transaction game a few months back and from what I heard it's territrash lolz.
As for this silent hill 2 remake though, the music will be amazing! And visually aside from some weird frame dips it looks siiick!
As for combat... Pardon me for sounding elitist but... Are folks seriously into this franchise for its gameplay? I thought it was all about the story, visuals, and music before anyone starts praising the game play... To me, game play came second as it kind of always just felt like a different but similar version of resident evil games. I never see anyone praise the silent hill franchise for the game play as if it was the best crapp ever lol. Never seen anyone totally crapping on it either though... But that's just my experience... Perhaps there actually is a ton of players who LOVE silent hill game play but personally... Meh... Don't care much about that.
That being said the combat seems fine enough. Defo better than the orig where I was able to pretty much just pipe smash my way through the game without using much else... And like you said you can run past like 90 something % of baddies which wasn't great for replay value. Looks like that wont be the case in this remake : )

I saw all the man children freaking out over some of the character's faces and like........ JFC lol. We got unfinished launches. False advertising. Broken promises. Worker crunch abuse. Micro transactions. Cut content. Online only restrictions. The CEO of ubisoft and valve trying to ruin games that we already paid for. The square enix guy is into insider trading that scum bag. Bobby Kotick told a lady that he would kill her if she spoke up about sexual misconduct at activision that she sadly experienced. And don't even get me started on the cosby room like holllly crapp! We got some serious problems in the gaming world! And these incels wanna rage about how hot and **ckable the characters are in their pervy minds lol... Instead of something that actually matters........
I can't blame ya for wanting nothing to do with these creeps lol. Besides... Their takes are not serious anyways. These guys think last of us part 2 is the worst game ever made even though it objectively has amazing visuals and ground breaking never before seen game play mechanics. Yet they still refuse to say ANYTHING nice about the game. Just pure hate. So why would any reasonable person listen to them???

im usually with u about people complain too much about characters not being hot. but for the nurses and Maria not being as hot is an actual negative to the game, the whole point is for them to be as attractive as possible to symbolize James inner lust. That major aspect is kinda gone now.
