Now that I've posted my Best Records of 2023 video, I'll reveal here that my favorite new album of 2023 was by John P. Strohm "Something To Look Forward To" on Propeller Sounds Recording. ua-cam.com/video/0socFlAv0jk/v-deo.html
There's not really a bad choice. If this scenario actually happened, I might actually want to pick a decade I'm less familiar with than the 90s so I'd have more to discover.
Great tag response, Chris! Sextant! Yes!!! I need to pick a copy of that up on vinyl. I do have it on CD luckily. The 90s are a great era. My college years! Morphine in the house. You have an amazing 45 collection. I call them baby rekkids. The Smiths! Yes! I love Krokus. Happy New Year!
Hi Chris. Nice recovery showing the style council .. jack white can stay in Manchester USA we don’t want him here. Though He did marry a girl from Oldham a while ago .. thanks for responding so quickly Chris it’s appreciated 👍
Thanks for supporting and saving the best records for Punk Vinyl Tag 2024. Too bad that "The Finnish VC Awards" didn't gather views. I really worked to do it... If I would do the Vinyl Tag the challenge would be do it without punk records. But I can't because I threw the questions away that VC Inspector gave me.
Hi Chris- I really enjoyed your Vinyl Tag response. Shame about Ray is an absolute classic. Good twist regarding Manchester- I like the look of the Jack White boxset. It might be on my wish list very soon. I’ve also subscribed to your channel. Cheers Bill
Hi Chris!! Cool response to Rob's vinyl tag. There are some pretty cool things to answer and some a kind ot tough too, but let's see what i can do about it..... it's always a surprise to see what's your "most watched video", it's never the one you think about ot put the most effort in it, lol. cheers and be well
Richard Feynman would be awesome at a dinner party. I read a book he wrote about becoming and being a physicist. It was really good! Great presentation, Chris! Enjoyed seeing your selections, especially since I don’t know most of them!
Hi Chris. Having watched your video on TV a couple of days ago, I can now post a comment on my computer ... I liked your choice of Manchester record! Rob Walker's comment below made me laugh. Jack White's wife comes from Rob's hometown? That just makes your answer to the question even more perfect ... There's a good documentary about Morphine called 'Journey Of Dreams' on UA-cam. You've probably seen it ... Cool 45's. As soon as I saw your 50's choice, I thought of Mack Stevens! ... Good approach to choosing dinner guests. I'm not sure Prince would be very talkative ... I picked Madam Cyn too as a 2023 re-discovery. He's one of the most interesting people in the vinyl community (although he probably doesn't see himself as being a part of it). I remember a video he did before one of his departures where he showed several incredibly rare Screamin' Jay Hawkins 45's. Wow! ... Always good to see John Peel ... Love 'It's A Shame About Ray'.
Albini has won 2 World Series of Poker bracelets (I have zero, did make a final table once), so he's got some serious poker skill. In the least surprising thing ever, Steve favors unpopular versions of poker (such as seven-card stud) and dislikes the most popular version (Texas Hold'em).
Splendid video Chris. I swapped that VMP record, did I dooo that? Yes. Was that uncultured of me? I swapped it for french Justice’s debut. So glad I got the latest Lemmonheads anniversary release this year. Nice remembering Andy Rourke, that bassline is legend. Happy Nytt År.
@@RekkidTalk I might, I just have to wait for them to pawn off some rap on me again and we’re golden! Also, NOW of course The Runaways record is out of print 😄
I loved seeing your Morphine picks as Cure For Pain is one of my favorite albums although I only have it on CD. Have you checked out the Mark Sandman's earlier band Treat Her Right? I liked your showing of a 45 for each decade. I love The Jive Five. Great 90's classic pick.
First off - SALUTE to Reggae that is NOT Bob Marley! I actually have been considering that for a video title - I love Marley - but there is SO MUCH other great Reggae and Rocksteady out there - Also - Sextant from VMP is AWESOME - great pressing and great jacket. I didnt realize Sextant and Headhunters were in the same year - I TOTALLY would have used that instead for my Tag. Awesome video!
Rob should have said Madchester so you would have had to do the Manchester that Rob loves. I mentioned The Creepers. I decided I would invite only women to my party! I put my responses on Rob's channel. I don't have any Steely Dan!!!

Wow! The 1990s! Awesome. I couldn’t choose a decade. I was a teen in the 80s, but I love a lot of albums from the nineties. Good choice!

I have too many babies.
Hey Chris, great response. That Hancock just kills. Cheers.
Yes, I've slowed way down on picking up jazz but was happy to get it.
Happy new year Chris 🎉 Manchester USA…..now that’s a crafty one! 😂 Mike
Rob had to know the Yanks would rebel.
Albini would be a great dinner party guest. He used to intimidate me a little back in the 90s, but he seems all right now.
Yeah, he was freindly the night I met him. I think it was 2017, give or take a year.
Hi Chris. Nice recovery showing the style council .. jack white can stay in Manchester USA we don’t want him here. Though He did marry a girl from Oldham a while ago .. thanks for responding so quickly Chris it’s appreciated 👍
I knew you'd have a negative reaction to Jack White in Manchester!
Really good video chris!
Thanks, saw you really dig the Margo Price rekkid from last year. 👍

The punk tag will be up in a few days. Maria Wesley mentioned you on her awards show.
@@RekkidTalk I almost get award, but Rachel took it. Never going to win...
The way Sextant starts is very trippy. Andy Rourke’s bass playing was always top notch. Dadawah is a good 74 release.
I really like Sextant but it's pretty clear why Headhunters was the hit and Sextant wasn't.

Thanks, I knew Rob would enjoy my liberties with the Manchester question.
Happy new year Chris!
Thanks, I'll be doing Tommy's punk tag as well. That one should be ready later this week.
Hi Chris! Cure For Pain is a masterpiece. I still have my original copy on compact disc. Nice LP version for you!
Yes, I've got most of Morphine on vinyl now.

I inserted secret algorithm codes into that video.

If you are talking about "Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman" I read it as well, many years ago.
Yes, that's it! Nuts to you. Nuts to you! Ha ha! I have it in a box of books somewhere around here.@@RekkidTalk
I like the twist you did on the manchester thing. Hey bro, I gave you a shout-out in that we are all winners' videos.
Thanks, I thought the Tennessee VC might like that.
@@RekkidTalk lol. I loved it
Finding an obscure 7" not on discogs totally satisfying 😊
We'll see if I'm too lazy to create an entry for it.

I didn't even know that about Jack White's wife.
Hi Chris, Happy New Year
Same to you! 🥳🥳🥳
Chris I was waiting to see you do this all in 45s. I really liked that Turkish psych 45 Chris I did not know about the poker, that was interesting

Like Swimming is very high on my list right now. I don't have Aja, lol. But I'm quite satisfied with my greatest hits CD. Happy new year!
I think Like Swimming might be my favorite Morphine record, although I could change my mind.
I was not aware of that Jack White box. Richard Feynman! That's out of left field. I have read some of his stuff. I can't argue with your 90s classic.
I don't even know how and why Feynman came to mind while planning my video. The Jack White box I showed was a Third Man Record Vault club offering.
good video, chris
You are my best viewer in Wyoming.
@@RekkidTalk your only viewer in WY, right? ha ha thanks.

That Jack White box set looks great. I haven’t seen that.
It was from the Third Man Records Vault club that I was a member of for a bit.
That's probably why I haven't seen it before.@@RekkidTalk

Thanks, saw your tag and your mention of Cure For Pain. I've heard a song or two but haven't done much with Treat Her Right.

Love that 45rpm song title.....#2 on you 🤣
It's pretty mediocre country but it was worth $1 for the entertainment value of that title.
Rob should have said Madchester so you would have had to do the Manchester that Rob loves. I mentioned The Creepers.
I decided I would invite only women to my party!
I put my responses on Rob's channel.
I don't have any Steely Dan!!!
Want some? 😆

Great stuff Chris thanks very much! Thanks for the subscribe as well I have reciprocated. I look forward to future videos.
No problem, your channel is new to me.
