Minecraft is a game about breaking and placing blocks, developed by Mojang. That is all.

Phoenix SC have to disagree
Agreed. Inconsistent in many ways. Now of course we might just be nostalgic and too subjective, but there is a certain charm to the good old iconic minecraft look which is now being decomposed. On the other hand I think there are quite a few old textures that need to be reworked.
Several new textures are just ugly. I dislike especially glass. A simple border around the block with no diagonal streaks would work just fine even with optifine's connected textures on. Cobblestone is bad too. Lapis lazuli block is weird, obsidian too, there's a lot :/
Agreed, some textures are terrible when placed next to each others..
I have a wonderful idea to try to fix this and appeal to everyone, SEVERAL different default textures! We can keep the old, a crazy new one, a fantasy roleplay kind that he seems to be making, and other ideas like science and realistic. But maybe no one will see this comment and never notice a possible idea because the world’s too big for the individuals to mean more than something to themselves.
I think it's a pretty cool idea. Of course, people will say "well just download custom textures made by the community". But the thing is, those may stop being updated, and I think the official texture pack is like what really defines the look and feel of the game for everyone. Hence I support for example the idea of presenting builds in the default texture pack, and that's coming from someone who actually used to make pretty crazy textures back in the day :]
Anyway, your idea of having several official texture packs or resource packs with different style, yet still reasonably consistent with each other, is cool.
This is why Mojang released the textures to the public, so that they could criticize about what needs to be improved. Videos like this are necessary for this update to actually work.
If you read my comment you would understand why this video really isn't necessary. Not to say your completely wrong though.

Sorry, I had to.
You should also put a comma after the word "Ok". Also, don't put a capital letter in the middle of the sentence. It should look like this:
"Ok, grammar police."

The initial reason I hated these textures, was that the gold and diamond blocks weren't recolors of each other, that style of glass could work in some building situations, but just stick with the original textures.
reddit moment
This is weird in retrospective, I remember being quite loud in my little group of friends about these new textures, but 3 years later I think the new textures are pretty good, and mojang was good enough to not just delete the old textures :>
I play both Java and legacy console edition, and I also have been recently revisiting these videos about the texture changes. I also remember being quite vocal about my distaste for change, but now I struggle building with the primitive textures on legacy console edition. Mojang handled the shift really well, even with the backlash.
@@ivy67767 me too actually
This stage of Minecraft textures was dark, but it came into the light with glamour!
I feel like everyone took the texture changes too extremely back then. You can hear the dude constantly say “this texture is horrible,” “this is bad,” or “this isn’t X anymore” and back then, we’d all agree cause of the sentiments at the time. Everyone now has a more mild opinion after having spent some substantial time with the new textures and now it’s strange hearing people from back when this happened to be criticizing these textures like they’re the worst things ever made
To be fair you're just used to them now. They still don't look very good compared to actually good texture packs (or even the original textures in many aspects, especially beets, carrots and wheat)
Honestly, i don’t understand why they thought changing the textures would be a good idea. I mean, come on! The look of minecraft is iconic, and... nothing fits.
logan daugherty especially changing something as iconic as say diamonds
And for people that don't like the default look, _that's what resource packs are for!_

MegaChickenfish who else hates reapplying resourcepacks everytime you switch minecraft versions?
Samster Birdies I'll have to say, yes.

They've said it'll be an option in 1.14, but sometime after that it'll be the new default textures.

There are a few I like but I dislike most of the new ones. I like the ones that didn’t change much like iron blocks (And I am VERY relieved they didn’t change concrete). I don’t like any of the new mob textures, at least they didn’t even try to change the creeper because you can’t really do that. I hope they make it optional but even then that would split the community even more than it already is.
Odyssey Central The new textures are great. The original ones will be on Minecraft.net when the new ones release.
ChocIce75 That’s not particularly my problem. My problem is by just adding them it will split the community of builders and I know they’ll make it optional on computer but I hope they make it optional on the switch/bedrock versions
Not bedrock, Pocket Edition or PE. Also, the main problem is that the old textures aren't getting the new blocks added to them, so it will just be missing, purple and black. Most people would be fine with the change if they just update both textures. And yes, it will break up some builders but do you ever really stop using one texture pack you have used all your life, no. Also, minecraft.net doesn't work for console or PE versions, which are now exact copies of the PC version.
I think the skeleton is cool
they will make it optional
You're really upfront with your opinions, but you're validly judging these textures as if they were just another texture pack. I agree with you, most of these are terrible.
I didn't want to beat around the bush. Better to be upfront now than later.
My opinion (aside from the weird shading), is that there seems to now be multiple art styles in the game. The main reason I heard for this change was to create consistency that wasn't there due to a 7 year development process. I'm not opposed to changing textures to improve them or make more consistency, it's just that they should accomplish that. These new textures are anything but consistent.
I feel like the textures have been turning into something... "cartoony". but its only like half of them, some are "realistic" then the other half is something from a cartoon.
4x4convoy yeah, that's one way to put it
Agreed!
i really like the individual textures, but its true that together they are very inconsistent

Also I'm fine with the textures now, but at the time of making this comment the textures weren't as refined, and to be honest my original comment came off a bit strong
Tim The Dim Jasper is accepting feedback so it's not official yet.
you can just make a texturepack of the pre-1.14 minecraft

Looking back, I kinda like the Diamond Blocks at this stage of the game. Reminds me a lot of Terraria's crates.

@@bemschurger SUS?
I personally don't like this texture for the diamond block. I am biased since I've played this game since beta testing days, but I personally don't like the look of it
hello
I think the real flaw, at least for the base game's textures, is that they shouldn't emphasize a 3D texture on an otherwise flat surface so that when building it doesn't make a project look jarring. I think it's cool in texture packs, if you don't treat the diamond block as a building block, but otherwise it's safer for the base game to look at everything as though it is literally blocks.
No, put that face back on that snow Gollum NOW!!!

There is "Alpha" (grass more bright and green + cobblestone really sharpen and gravel are old) and "Beta" (with other different things) versions. You may choose version, which you prefer.
BTW i really hope someone will make a resourcepack with textures from 1.12 before 1.13 release.
If this is all about Terracotta, they really should just change the terracotta.
Its not all about the terracotta
it's good for technical players
BJTMastermind slime-stoner...?
BJTMastermind Terracotta is a fancy block I feel the game was missing, and it adds a good bit of... Spice. The new textures... SHOVE THEM IN A HAUNTED PIZZERIA IN THE DEEPEST HOLE EVER AND LIGHT THE PIZZERIA ON FIRE WHILE THERE'S A EARTHQUAKE AND GODZILLA IS EATING THE EARTH!!!!
what is terracotta supposed to do anyways? especially the one with the arrow?
I agree, the game isn’t about detail, just because terracotta looks different definitely means yup make everything that everyone has known and loved for a long time, I never though yup definitely needs a texture change for everything that people love to a huge out rage. They need to revert this. Guess what every Minecraft video you’ve ever seen look outdated now, all the Minecraft merchandise you have ever bought like plastic figures with armor, irrelevant, completely outdated. *OMG THE NEW UPDATE 1.17 UPDATE IS HERE NO FAKE REAL 100%*
When I saw new textures, I shutdown the Minecraft and deleted 14.1 version. Now I am playing only on 12.2
I just downloaded a texture pack
Just use the programmer art texture pack, it comes with the game you don't even have to download it
I don't understand why they decided to rework all of the textures just because of one set of blocks, especially when they were specifically designed to stand out from the rest of the blocks. It wouldn't be as irritating if Jasper tried to stick to the original grainy look the original minecraft textures have, instead he created a brand new art style that is basically the polar opposite of the current one (also, I have about an inch of snow on the ground outside, and there is no blue, it's all white)
Thomas Devlin I totally agree why don't they do more with pets
This nigga devlin
They didn't do it to fit with one set of blocks, they are future proofing it now, along with unifying all the textures from notchs era to the new post notch era
Notch has been gone for years, the blocks Jeb made after Notch were consistent with Notch's style. Also "future proofing" is rarely an effective thing to do. Games don't become masterpieces by worrying about "future proofing" they become masterpieces by sticking to what they have and doing it the best they can. Changing the style shows they're not confident about the longevity of the game simply because it isn't at the peak that it was (and never will be again).
All games have a golden era that passes, but their legacy remains if what was once great is left untouched. You can add new things all you want, but tampering with the familiarity people have with it is a bad move and shows you don't think it's legacy is good enough.
Instead of focusing on these unnecessary texture changes they could be trying to give us things we've wanted for years now. Ex: Red Dragon, actual flying birds that flock, more structures to explore, ect.
I think a big part of the problem is that they have a dedicated texture artist for a game that doesn't really need new textures that often. Having all these changes seems more like they're trying to make work for their employee instead of him doing work that is necessary and available.
Kyrike they hired him to make all new textures he's not been sitting around doing nothing
The best Christmas gift would to be that this re-texturing was a joke.
That being said, this is an AWFUL lot of work just for them to say "Just kidding!"
Poor Jasper...
Honestly, I really don't give a shit if this happens. These textures don't look as bad as people are talking about, but yes, I do agree that these textures do need some changes (totem, tnt, and cobblestone). Otherwise it's pretty much alright in my opinion.
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees
Honestly, I feel that there should be 2 official texture packs that can be changed. It would make both sides happy, and the ability to swap texture packs without having to download anything extra would be great.
Diamond Espeon I agree
No one would be upset if this were called "an officially supported texture pack" rather than "the new default textures"

I can agree with almost everything in this video. I really hate these new textures and prefer the old ones
Speaking as a builder in the community, I really enjoy the new pack, things like the redstone lamp were very harsh before and have been smoothed out, as has all of the planks, logs, and cobble varients. It gives the game a more pleasing and satisfying look. People also dont seem to realise that the textures are constantly changing based on feedback.
"If it ain't broken, don't try to fix it"
True
They still look better
Old textures are always better. I've always wanted the dark lined cobblestone back from 2010 or whenever it was before it become almost a whole colour
I hope they make the resource pack optional, cuz there's no way I'm playing the game with these textures. And yes I know I could "just download a resource pack that contains the old textures", but that will affect my fps in-game, which isn't great to begin with on my potato laptop. Just my opinion though
Kylo Bren it’s going to be the new textures, why the hell would people be making rant videos if it was just a resource pack?
Ethan Hawksley Well they could change their minds about making these the base textures and instead make it optional, since people aren't happy about these
That's what I'm hoping for
Kylo Bren Downloading a resource pack with the old textures will not affect your fps in any way
don't worry about frames, it tends to be a 1 or at most 2 fps loss. I have a potato of a computer, and I can't feel any difference.
These textures are just too blurry, unblendable, and cartoony...
That just might be me though, I’ve been playing for 7 years
TNT is nice tho
"Too blurry"? What did you expect? RealisticCraft?
LuckyTheDiamond they are too blury because they tried smoothing out the textures,(similar to anti alising) which does not work in minecraft. (just look at the base game, the pixels are not smoothed like in modern games
4 years, originally from console. I've seen the game grow up. I want to protect it.
LuckyTheDiamond the way you word that confuses me
I think you said it a bit harshly, but I agree with most of what you said. lol
The TNT and restone lamps look awful, the Redstone lamps look like they have a sepia filter on and the TNT looks like you spiked the contrast.
And yes, the precious blocks do look... just wrong. :s
I do have to say though, some of the new textures are much better, I like gold armor, I LOVE the new ores, they basically look the same, but are vaguely glowing.
I think these new textures are going in the right direction for the most part I'd say, but some reeaalllyyy need work.
The new TNT is what TNT actually looks like, unlike whatever it was in the previous version. The redstone lamp is probably the worst new texture, along with glass, I do agree.
Oh amen to the glass! It's... just bad. ;s
Though my main complaint about the TNT is that, like the lilly pad, it's totally unshaded and looks like Jasper used only 4 colors, just adding a bit of shading or noise could make it look sooo much better... At least to me? I dunno, maybe I'm crazy. lol
I gotta say one thing, the tree tops look absolutely perfect. That immediately stood out to me as a improvement. Actually, it reminds me a bit of a texture pack I use to have installed. As to what Phoenix said, I also agree with pretty much all of it. The glass, redstone lamp, precious blocks and the birch are absolutely horrid. But I do disagree with the tree trunk, I think the extra contrast makes it look like a older tree with cracked bark. I kinda like it, the melon is fine too, but maybe the bottom could have a less harsh transition and it could generally use more realistic melon like colors. The wood blocks could use a bit more grain to them, but the cobble looks decent enough, I'd probably get used to it.
I agree that the trees are nice too, I personally like the wood though, the smoother look looks like it's been sanded down for building so you won't get splinters, maybe I'm wrong though, I dunno! LOL
I usually like walnut and cherry wood IRL, so maybe that has to do with it. Actually, lighter woods like birch and maple usually are smoother, so it does make some sense. Perhaps just the darker ones could have more grain. That would actually make for a nice variety.
I like how people say "they killed pvp, building" and now they killed the whole community WITH STUPID ASS MODERATION.
i think the textures looked so bad until i really looked at them. now they are incredible.
but they have changed quite a bit
@@monodragon they’ve changed almost entirely.

"broken" is subjective in this case. The develops think that a lot of textures are inconsistent. (Plus I'm sick of hearing the dumb dismissal of "if it aint broke, don't fix it")
The current MC textures are pretty bad. It's easy to get used to them though.
if it's not broken, you can improve it...
This isn't an improvement I honestly have grown up playing this game. I'm used to the textures and I like them. Why would you change the games entire look do you realise how many builds these changes will ruin. Stupid to be honest.

@@ItzFridayz only good textures are crops (potato carrot NOT wheat) and netherrack
I still hate this new texture, its not like minecraft, its like a blocky game with fluid texture, not with pixelated as it should be, they are to detalied. And the worst is that mojang doesn't add programmer art texture to the new updates so if u play with programmer art some blocks won't match. Fortunately some nice people are making programmer art textures that look really good to the new blocks but the current texture of minecraft are something that i really hate, the next one is the lag which came with update 1.17, im still playing on 1.16.5 and i will till i get a new fresh laptop but the lag and the optimisation is something that mojang should fix, not force us to spend money for new pc and mods like optifine aren't help us anymore with new updates, they should fix they're issues instead of just make stupid mob votes and add too many useless things just for minecraft estetic

Most of the new textures only work well in a vacuum. I much prefer the consistency of the old textures. The only things that I would really like to see changed are the hardened clay (to make them a bit more dyed and less orange-tinted) and the prismarine blocks (I really like the look of the new ones.)
That's why they made the concrete block. People wanted a smoother-looking block that wasn't so orange-tinted. I don't think they need to change hardened clay (Terracotta) because then those blocks would look too similar to concrete and be redundant.

I know this was a year ago, but the terracotta, ironically, ended up being changed in the full release of the texture update as well.
@Phoenix SC -- First off I wanna say I love your technical content, you do some super interesting things with the game.
As far as this videos and videos like it go, I think that the point of them releasing these textures for us to play with is exactly for videos like this where you show your opinion, and offer advice ect. However, I think you should try to be a bit more mindful when making videos like this, to make the video about the textures, and not the person. I think it's a bit unfair to bring up Jasper the way you did a few times in the video, we have to remember he is still a person, and he's just a guy trying to do his job (and a very hard job at that considering how passionate people are about this game). So when you said "I'm not sure where he's got this knowledge from" and "I really pity him but for this to be added into the game really shows some incapabilities on his part" at around the 4:40 part. Maybe you didn't intend for it to come off as a personal, but I felt it was getting a bit to close to a personal attack of sorts. I'm sure that's not necessarily what you intended, but like I said, I just think it should be something to be mindful about.
All that said, I'm a bit in the middle as far as the textures go, I think your comment summed it up to some degree, "new textures appear to fit only in isolation of each other". But again, maybe don't lean to much on Jasper. Having that say "Mojang's new textures" goes a long way :)
This is such a well written comment. I agree.

Nothing about his wording was suggestive, it was the pacing that made him sound harsh. I think your message would be more helpful when directed to the audience and not Pheonix. Let them know he wasn't trying to sound overbearing.
However, I sincerely admire the time and effort you put into your comment. :)

Honestly, the textures by themselves are lovely. I love em, and this is coming from a non-micraft player, a non-biased view. The only problem I see if the consistency. I don't mind mostly blury, filtered textures. I don't mind sharp textures. But unless it's for a point, the textures should follow a theme. Like, plants shouldn't be mostly smooth except for ferns, for example, unless the ferns are sharp for a reason.
I'll give an example of good texturing. Half Life 2. In Half Life 2, all of the textures for the combine all are very themed, and dark, and different to the rest of the game.
The stone textures are very clear cut, and unless they are damaged, are very smooth.
The nature textures are very blurry. Pretty much all of them. There's almost 0 sharpness.
These new textures aren't themed.
The nature textures can be rough or sharp or smooth, and there's nothing in common between them, for the most part.
The stone textures can be blurry or sharp, and there's no reason why.
This is my problem with the new textures.
Also, if they wanted to do shading, they should just add normal maps to the game and call it a day. (Well, it'd need more personalisation than that, but that'd be an idea.)

yep
As an artist myself I don’t love the new textures for the most part, except for the soul sand, which I think is an improvement, and the TNT, which I love the look of on its own, but with the art style it looks really out of place. (Really I just abuse the “I’m an artist” excuse so I sound like I have authority to back up my arguments most of the time, but here I’m just reinforcing what everyone else thinks)

I feel like by changing the apple something isn't quite right considering mojangs logo is the apple
Omg youre right
Except the Mojang "apple" looks nothing like either minecraft apple? And Notch said it was partially inspired by a sewing machine?
I guess but I always associate them with the original apple notch even dropped it when killed before it was a normal drop from oak trees
J GAMER XONE valid point.
This is actually a good in-depth discussion about the new textures. I personally think that the new ones are fine, but we definitely didn't NEED them. Minecraft's textures were already fine - this is an unnescecary change.
i would've been completely fine with the occasional texture changes they did previously (and the ones terraria keeps doing)
the only major gripes i have with the old textures is that the three 1.8 stones look god-awful (which they still do with the new textures) and that glowstone has a weird olive-green base texture below the yellow stone bits
my eyes died when I opened minecraft. I thought I had shitty texture pack on
@@quujj wow how long did it take for you to come up with that?
getting this video recommended in 2025 is crazyyyyy 🙏😭
Why don't you send this video to jasper then?

There is nothing wrong with that I’d say but this has gone too far
Well, there is value to that too
Finn the Human for improvement? these are all open to criticism and he’s still listening. minecraft is an old game, that doesn’t mean it’s set in stone not open to any changes.

Their getting to real almost unlike Minecraft
This still feels like Minecraft to me.

I just realized how far behind i am...
Now when we turn on programmer art we look back and see how bad the old textures really were!
EWWWWW W I'm offended by that red stone lamp and chainmail
How dare they change my grey dots into an actual texture.
@@fatguy338 lmao I don't agree with the message but I still laughed like shit congratulations
Even 2 years in the future
Bruh And the redstone lamp never changed😂
I would give it an F because Jappa ruined Minecraft, the blocks looks too faded and the crops looks rotten. But the good news is that we could get the old textures back
@@lawsonryan24 the netherack looks like flesh too me.
@@zachstudios567 *ibxtoycat disagrees*
I like the new glass, you can see through the center without the dashes in the middle. Also the new gold, emerald, and diamond blocks look great, I love the shading, I disagree that shading does not work on minecraft blocks, there are many minecraft blocks that have already had shading, cobble for example.
Andrew Linn the precious blocks don't fit with the theme of Minecraft though.
I like the glass and diamond, emerald, and gold too.
Old wheat was impossible to tell when it was done.
People Who Uses Texture Packs: *I DON'T HAVE SUCH WEAKNESS*

It's so obvious that they're trying to scrub all traces of Notch from Minecraft.
Then they gotta scrub Minecraft and players :)

Not too happy with the snow golem tho
*Snowman. They should really change the name. What kind of name is "Snow Golem"? I need that happy festive face back.
Droid779 Honestly those are probably the worst, especially from a builders standpoint where a ton of diamond, for example, is supposed to be a blue base to build on top of. Also I don't understand what the arw trying to be. Why do they have a bunch of lines on them? Is that supposed to pop out or something? It doesnt look physically possible with that kind of shading
Are you a moron?
Builders complain about the new textures for diamond, gold, and emerald blocks.
But who on Earth actually used those blocks for builds? They were ugly before, and pretty much only worked when used singularly.
It's already been 4 years
Glad we didn't end up with those textures. Horrible dark lines and such that don't even make sense for MC.
As I got in to Minecraft in the 1.15 update, i do not understand how people hated the new textures so much. Honestly the old ones, especially netherack, make me want to puke
Because people dont like change. I know someone who seriously used to hate change.
Mainly nostalgia for me
When first presented to public the new textures weren't as polished as they are now.
glass panes.
@@Pixiuchu when something changes for the worse people are not obligated to accept it and shouldn't be labeled as "stuck in the past"
i don't like this argument because this is used everywhere even when the change is bad, so like i can say *"youtube has good updates people just don't like change"* when clearly updates are bad and are broken
think about that argument for more than 5 minutes
Y am I getting this recommended now lol
Earlier got one from Grian too

The old glass sucked though.
Ngl i was happy they changed it what it looks rn
Most of the new comments seem to express disdain for the new textures. But I agree, the new ones are consistent in style like the old ones, but they blend in much better which has vastly improved Minecraft building, due to not having such harsh, high contrast textures as the old cobble and old netherack, etc
wow, phoenix is so mean to jappa in this 😭
why did this get recommended to me 3 years after it was uploaded
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
I don't think it was needed for all of the blocks, just a slight change to things lik bricks, I do like most of the new textures but just don't like how they go together in a build, I think I just need to get used to it though, however there are also quite a bit of textures I really dislike, glass, redstone lamps and I really hate the change to food.
Cocoa beans look like poop and potatos are peanuts and the apple looks TOO realistic minecraft is meant to be more blocky and way less gradient. They are down right changing the art style of the game. The bricks are fine but other than that everything is too gradient
Literally, stop making pointless changes and tell ppl why are the changes made, then nobody will get up set. Just wtf is wrong with those people.
It's such a simple conclusion but they refuse to acknowledge it
Did they ever gave a reason for the change?
would be interesting to know why, at least.
Determined Games I hope they read this comment
The new textures were 4 years ago now?!
I remember in 1.7 when they changed the Rose to become a Poppy, and to have a different texture. Without then changing the other original flower, the Dandelion, that made the Dandelion stick out to these newer flowers. It was still usable, and noone would bat an eye, but in retrospect, they should've changed the Dandelion to fit in with the new flowers. I also quite miss the single rose texture, because, like the dandelion, it is an iconic and nostalgic texture of Minecraft as a whole.
These new textures from Jasper is like the flower situation scaled up to the rest of the textures.
And just as a side note, the less shaded textures were very nice to make pixel art from, and these more blurry textures kind of kill that in some areas- but, it's not really anything to consider given all of the other reasons for texturing a certain way to look at.
Has mojang ever heard of the phrase “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it?” They always pull stuff like this
Ya know they... actualy fixed minecraft with this...
Here's a quote for you "If it's not perfect, fucking improve it you dopey bastard"
I'm glad the actual 1.14+ textures look better than this.
Most straight forward video I have seen about this and I agree whole heartedly. My opinion on the matter is why did the textures need to change. Everything for together it felt like one complete game the terracotta fit in with the style of the game already it worked as a block and brought it's own unique properties as well. Everyone was fine with the textures as they were and if they were really against theme they would find or make a texture pack for themselves that fit how they wanted the game to look. Another thing is that some items and blocks are too iconic to change like the diamond the change they did and any change they can do will make the game feel different because it is no longer "the diamond" same with the oak wood every player has done a survival world and most of the time the first thing they do is plant their face into a oak tree and get the logs but it won't feel the same and it won't be the same as it has been for years. I think that instead of doing EVERY texture all at once they should do something similar to what they did with gravel for 1.3 I think it was where ONE texture changed because it wasn't the greatest texture and people were saying hey can you do something about it like if this update just changed the bricks it would be well accepted because the bricks have been a problem area for a lot of people and the new texture fits well. its not only listening to the fan base it is making the game better instead of drastically different. If they must change the textures I think they should do it slowly instead of everything at once, that they should leave some blocks and items unchanged, and make them work together. That's my two cents on the matter
Hey, little advice: Separate your comments in paragraphs.
It makes it more pleasant to the eyes, and people will be more likely to read it if they see a well structured comment instead of a huge block of text.
Maybe use more commas, too, but that's not nearly as important for a comment on the internet.
Advice aside, I agree with your comment. If they changed things little by little, making sure the community generally accepted it each step of the way, not only we would better get used to it, they would also end up naturally keeping the same style the game already has.
But the way they're going right now is just awful.
We don't need completely changed blocks, or super-smooth/super-sharp blocks. Maybe a few small changes are nice. The soulsand for example looks way better, and you can actually see why it's called SOULsand (except now it's way too smooth imo).
We don't need high-textured apples, peanuts, and carrots (that are also horizontally reversed). The old ones were simple yet worked great, and noone had a problem with them. It perfectly went with the simple style of the game, but now it just looks way too detailed.
L4Vo5 Writing has never been a strong suite of mine but I am trying to get better. So the constructive criticism is appreciated. Thank you
This video aged like fine wine
The blue on snowballs are realistic, because the snowballs in Minecraft can hurt someone, so the blue must be ice.
dude i got this in my recommended today and i thought this was recent i hate youtube right now
I don't think this video aged quite so well
The new Diamond, emerald, gold, and iron blocks look worse imo and get rid of the nostalgic feeling of building a house out of them.
We have gotten used to it but still I think we all can agree when I say it looks too refined nowadays.
@@HyperComet369They literally never were meant to be used as building materials for houses
THANK YOU. you said things that NEEDED to be said. like this inst just us going "Ew its new I hate new" like everyone does with every update THESE TEXTURES are actaul problems that don't make sense and seem jumbled. they kinda look like some textures I once made... LOL
ah yes youtube algorithm
Thank goodness this got changed. Looking back on this I can’t believe some people were supporting these textures
Honestly besides the glass most of the textures here were still better than the old ones
@@dumigamez397 I have a lot of nostalgia for the old textures so I don’t see much of a problem with them. The new ones just needed some more refining and fixing. I’m happy with the final versions tho
This really goes to show how much Jappa has improved. In this version of the texture pack, it looks like he didn’t really know how to make connected blocks work well with each other, but now he gets it really well.
I apologize but I only partially agree with what you are arguing. Yes the diamond and emerald are hideous, but I actually think that the wood is great! You showed the inconsistencies of the new textures but I feel the need to remind you, this texture pack is NOT FINAL. Yes it is off in some places but it could all change at any point. The artist has clearly shown that he wants community feedback, and has shown that he will listen. The diamond block and the emerald block are very hard things to texture, they are not going to be perfect! The reason this texture pack is released is for the community to voice their opinions! You have done exactly that, and I'm sure that if lots of people agree, like with the glass being horrendous, he will try his best to fix it to how the community wants it. Yes he wants input but you must understand, this is a very very hard job to under take. He has been working on these textures for almost half a year now I believe, and the textures look much much better than when he first started. Yes the textures have some problems, but he is trying his best. That's just my opinion tho so ignore this if u want
I think what we ended up with in the end is fantastic. The new textures almost feel more minecraft than some of the old ones honestly.
Exactly! It gives us a better comparison of old Minecraft to new Minecraft as well. When I see old textures, I get so nostalgic
This is the most stupid thing I've ever read
The new cobblestone texture is in my opinion, the absolute worst. It lost all definition, and is pretty much impossible to make look good in any build. It blends together in such a strange way, and is honestly just an eyesore to look at because of how blurry it is.
And it all ended fine and well
Me getting this in my recommended 4 years later with almost all of these a lot better: *interesting.*
I will say that the way the soul sand blends together looks really good. This was the one positive change. And the leaves look nice too.
