Dear T Repair Tech, Since you appear to be familiar with this Brother printer family: I have the slightly bigger model MFC J5730DW and the following problem; The MP multipurpose paper feeder on the back doesn't work anymore and I suspect that the drive shaft or a little gear of the feeding mechanism has come loose. In order to check and possibly fix this, it appears that I first need to remove the MP paper support assembly on the back to be able to access the drive shaft/gear mechanism. According to the Brother service manual (page 157), step 2 of the paper support assembly removal procedure says: "[step] (2) Release the two Hooks and remove the Paper support ASSY from the Main body". Unfortunately the schematic drawings is not really clear as how this releasing of the hooks works, and I'm afraid I will break something if I use force.....Do you by any chance know how to UNHOOK the da** MP support assembly? Your help - or that of somebody else reading this - is greatly appreciated. Regards, Sven. P.S. I can sent photos and/or copies of the manual if necessary

The probability of assemblying SUCCESSFULLY is almost zero to none! Too laborious, too many steps, just a nightmare. This guy is a daredevil... but he missed to show a couple of critical steps when putting together. My suggestion: you will end up spending hours and at the end you will take the whole machine to the garbage bin. Brother have made (INTENTIONALLY) all their inkjet printers almost impossible to swap the printhead. Even their Service Centers do not replace the printhead on cheaper models. We always bought Brother because of lifetime tech support but their machines nowdays will fail quickly if not using their SUPER-EXPENSIVE ink cartridges. We have transitioned to other brands that do not change their firmware often and thus allowing us to use generic (very much cheaper) ink. Printer manufacturers have become such manipulators (thieves to my eyes... thru bad experience). Why they do not lower their propreitery ink prices to a level that most would buy their ink is truly a PUZZLE to me. They sure contribute to environmental issues (dumbing plastic components that can still be used). SHAME!!
This dumb technician decide to skip the step where he lift the scanner at 3:12. There is one hinge he forgot to show so he decide to cut it. Whats the point of dissamble so fast but doesn't cover all step?

What a horrible design, on a Canon all you need to do is take out the cartridges, flip the release arm and the printhead comes out.
