Watching all these videos you're putting out is super helpful. I had a decent little stint on Etsy with a couple printed items but kinda fell off midway through this year and haven't done a lot of work on the shop in quite a while. I think you might just be reinspiring me to get back to it next year and take another stab at Etsy!
Etsy has been a great platform for us so far. We have done roughly 50% of our business there, with the other 50% being bespoke design and print for our 3D printing business. Not bad for a company about 4 months old.
so excited for you and congrats on the sales count :) it seems you are growing a community and that's always exciting. Thanks for your insights into Etsy!
Esty does well for me. Opened the account in 2013 but didn’t really do anything with it until 2019 when I had only 50 sales total. Pushed the SEO’s, improved photography, and created more products and grew it to just over 1,900 sales since I started putting time into it. I also sell on Amazon, eBay and via my own website. I do leather work, 3D printed items I designed and recently added a laser cutter to add more items
@@OfficialOffDaBench I’ve found that the algorithms is more responsive to sharing listings once you hit 100 or more listings. However, listings that don’t move or make sales will often get revamped or removed to focus on the ones that do move.
319 Sales!!! good stuff, so close! Love and hate relationship with Etsy... they banned an account with 900+ sales. But that's a tough conversation. The fees don't bother me because it's priced in and its a part of doing business. I spent so much on advertising when i tried shopify... Love the channel, and watching your shop grow.
Bro I love this channel. I feel so connected. You and I are in such similar shoes. I have an Etsy store and website and I’m almost at 1000 sales. I’m so much fun.
You should discuss shipping and handling.. Not only do you have Etsy fees (reminiscent of the days when eBay was "the thing") but shipping costs have gone up exponentially. I used to use USPS Flat Rate boxes but now they are $11-$26 bucks...
Etsy has been pretty dope to me. Seems like the people there actually want to buy my kind of product and also seems like the fees are cheaper than eBay.
I love you videos thanks! Do you use etsy ads for marketing? Also have you seen etsy ads work better as a star seller compared to before you were a star seller?
If you're just starting out, the easiest way to look at it is you have nothing to lose with etsy. After a point you will need to look at how to get more profitable with it.
I want to start an Etsy shop but I just don’t know what printed things to put on there. I look and it seems like everything I like to print and make is all ready saturated on the site.
No.. not its not. Especially if its their advertising that brings in the sale. On average I lose 14% to etsy. 2.9% of that is payment processing. Not to mention if you use their shipping label, the fee also gets added to the shipping cost.
@@OfficialOffDaBench thanks for replying brotha, would you mind clearing something up for me? if your store has 10 items listed, and you pay for adds, are the adds for just 1 item in the store, or are the adds being ran on every item you store has in stock? thanks
I’ve liked Etsy so far. I think a lot of legacy users selling handmade items are facing competition from mass-produced non-handmade products, which is what Etsy was supposed to not be. This isn’t as big an issue for 3D printed products and for newer users who see Etsy as a selling platform, not necessarily a handmade item platform. I started selling a very nice 3D printed hobby product I invented (it also has non-printed components) in June and while it was slow starting, the holiday season has been bonkers. I only have one printer and I cannot keep my item in stock. I really want to buy a second printer but I’ll wait to see what more “normal” demand looks like in the first few months of 2025.
That's awesome! Keep up the great work 🙂 I agree with you on Etsy. Over the past 10 years I've found it interesting that people start to think having access to a platform is something they own, but in reality all of it could disappear tomorrow. Even UA-cam could be gone tomorrow. Most important thing is be quick on your feet and don't get stuck in one place.
Honestly complaining about the fees makes no sense to me. I'd rather get 50% of 100 sales than 100% of none by not being in Etsy. Sure, I might make more elsewhere, but I might get more sales by being in Etsy so it'd be worth it. Hoping to launch mine soon :)
The trouble is there are SO MANY different fees they apply - I'd much rather see the sale and all the fees rolled up imto one item rather than the insane detil they provide on my account
You are just lucky. Im lucky if i sell 1 item on etsy a week. On Ebay i sell hundreds in the same week. Its not about fees, i dont care. Etsy is no longer the selling hub it used to be.
We closed our Etsy Shop i case of the way to hiiiiiggggghhhhhh costs there. There is no point to sell there and as a seller, customers gehts allways right from Etsy. dont do it.

That's awesome! How much impact did increasing the listing count have on your Etsy store?

You're on your way! Just keep going. Everyday seems like nothing is happening. Just keep on going!!! I believe in you!
Thanks!

Love the channel, and watching your shop grow.
Thanks! Etsy is a great starting point, but definitely not the only place I want to be in a year.
I love your channel! I'm looking into starting my own 3D-printing buisness also!
Love it!
Bro I love this channel. I feel so connected. You and I are in such similar shoes. I have an Etsy store and website and I’m almost at 1000 sales. I’m so much fun.

That's a good idea! My shipping fees are usually no more than $5 for all my products.
Etsy has been pretty dope to me. Seems like the people there actually want to buy my kind of product and also seems like the fees are cheaper than eBay.
Really depends on the product I think! Glad its working for you!
I love you videos thanks! Do you use etsy ads for marketing? Also have you seen etsy ads work better as a star seller compared to before you were a star seller?
Thanks! I do use Etsy ads. Spend 5-10 dollars per day. I've been curious about that myself, but don't have enough consistent data to figure it out.
If you're just starting out, the easiest way to look at it is you have nothing to lose with etsy. After a point you will need to look at how to get more profitable with it.
Exactly!
I want to start an Etsy shop but I just don’t know what printed things to put on there. I look and it seems like everything I like to print and make is all ready saturated on the site.
price your products competitively , and sponser your product
Just start with what you like to make! If it doesn't sell make something else. Each product you design and list is great practice :)
Would you please explain how you advertise on etsy please...
I'll add that to the video ideas!
The Etsy fee is really like 6 1/2% the rest of that is for payment processing which you’re gonna pay as a vendor no matter where you’re selling
No.. not its not. Especially if its their advertising that brings in the sale. On average I lose 14% to etsy. 2.9% of that is payment processing. Not to mention if you use their shipping label, the fee also gets added to the shipping cost.
Which software are you using to design? Did you learn that from scratch?
I use Shapr3D at the moment
I cant even get a store made. I've tried twice now and get suspended right away with no explanation. They even take the $15 setup fee.
That is crazy! Not sure why they would do that.
Do you pay for the Etsy adds?
I do! $5-10 per day

Love your channel. Subbed!
Thanks!

True, having it in one spot would make it easier!
You are just lucky. Im lucky if i sell 1 item on etsy a week. On Ebay i sell hundreds in the same week. Its not about fees, i dont care. Etsy is no longer the selling hub it used to be.
Wow! Ebay sounds like it's working pretty good.
Like the videos thanks!

That's a bummer. Nothing works for everyone, hope you found a different place to sell!
