Just to make things clear, Exegol in this video sounds like a distortion pedal ran into an amps return because, as it's clearly stated in the description, the Exegols dedicated power amp output was not used. That's a second output with a different voicing, different impedance and a correct line level to drive a power amp, plus if you keep both pedals on full blast you'll be likely saturating the last gain stage the Matamp GT120 has before the phase inverter, and that adds to the final result too.
Both are so good but Exegol 🤘 ... Texas Heats and Swamp Things were in my 2x12s for a long time but EVM-12Ls live in them now. Thanks for the demonstration, they both really are great and worth their price.
This was helpful, thanks! I have never played a Model T and I could be wrong, but in this video the model fet is responsive and looks more like a real preamp.
Have the Exegol and love it. It sounds so good especially for doom based drone type music. I use it mostly with the Drone Master, Hypercoven, and at times the Hizumitas for that Sunn O))) drone tone. Can't beat it, period.
If you can hold off for maybe a few weeks . I have a big video coming that involves a Model T and 4 preamp pedals . Will be doing a full comparison video .
I'm kind of surprised how different they sound from eachother. I already have a Ground FX Burning Sunn that I absolutely adore but I might have to see out the feT too, it sounds fantastic.
There will be a follow up video to this in the next few months . Where I’ll take 4/5 model T preamp pedals and shoot them out against the actual T . The Burning SUNN will be part of that video . I appreciate you checking this video out .
I was worried I'd got the wrong pedal when I got thr Model feT but this video shows it to be better than the exegol in my opinion. The exegol sounds a little more "pedal" like whereas the Model feT is a little more amplike. Great video!
I have the Gremlin Ceremonial that sounds a little different than these as well. It's super gnarly though and takes pedals amazingly well also. I've got some clips on my channel if anyone is interested in that pedal 👍
Great video man. To me modelfet is a clear winner. It is more amp-like, open and clear, like this kind of pedals should imho. The Exegol is more compressed and serves more as a distortion pedal and not a preamp emulation one.

So my impression was right, I didn't know the pedal was being used in the wrong way though...

Nice video, thanks ! Exegol all the way for me. Power amp output running in 18v is the way to go !

The model Fet didn’t shine until that Proco Rat hit. Then it was the clear option
Stoked for this one!
beautiful sounds
Great review. These pedals are heavy!!!! Love it!!!

@@FuzzedDrones Cheers man. I'm anxious to see how they all stack up. FWIW the Burning Sunn is my all time favorite pedal.
@@FuzzedDrones I will be watching for that.
@@Intaminator I'm close to pulling the trigger on one of these.

a pedal ain't gonna get you there
Lol yes it can. You can do amazing things with IRs these days.
Do you feel that the presence knob on the exegol makes a difference?
I do . If you haven’t checked it out already . But I have another video on my page comparing this and 3 other preamps to the actual model t .
