Great new haircut... BTW... you are so smart and clever.. I really am glad you did this tutorial. I have so many old and pretty buttons and feel in love with the ones on Etsy, but... couldn't see buying them... I just knew someone would come up with a video on making them...THANKS
What a great example of how some basic items, a little creativity, and a little can do spirit can make something fashionable to match your daily wear wardrobe. I think it looks great, good job. You could even take this one step more and get some shiny gold and rhinestone buttons with a gold colored chain and dress the design up.
@PinkWeeds If done right you can't even feel the wire and both ends are carefully turned under and tucked in. I really wanted the wired look, but I'm sure hot glue and felt will work as well.
I love the necklace. I have a stash of buttons from my granny that I need to dig out. There are lots of large mother of pearl buttons that would be beautiful with any other colors. I have some 3/8 inch velvet ribbon I thrifted that I will use instead of chain. Thanks Whitney
@AudySarah1 It was the first half that wasn't as stable because my wire was on the thin side and I didn't go through thoses buttons enough. To fix it I just went back through each of the buttons a time or two and it fixed it. The necklace is sturdy now :) Hope that helps!
@jetty17 One person commented a day or two ago saying they've tried thread before and it wouldn't hold it's shape and looked reall bad. I think wire is the only way to keep all the buttons in place
I am definitly going to try my hand at this, I love watching your tutorials, makeup videos get so boring after awhile. You my dear are very creative keep up the great work : )
I love it! Awesome look. I've been wanting to do make a button necklace for a long time. This video has totally motivated me now. Thank you for sharing. :)
What an adorable necklace and it looks super easy to do. I've been making jewelry with polymer clay lately and I thought about making some one of a kind buttons just for this project. Thanks again!
I've started making a few buttons recently and as soon as I get enough buttons made I will take a photo of them before starting the necklace and if it turns out the way I'd like it to I will take a photo after as well and post it on my page here at google. Thanks again!
OH Whitney, I have 3 little yorkies, one a teacup size which is under 3 lbx. They don't come sniff, they just jump in the middle of my lap if i am sitting or in the middle of my projects... what can you do. I love their attention, so i sketch it, or take a picture, or climb a ladder... lol Love your shows and congrats on giving your hair away. I am growing super long and plan to donate in about 1 more year...dee
You make it look so easy! Mine turned out awful....lol! I love yours, wish you could make mine for me, I have some gorgeous crystal like buttons and those thick crystal flatbacks with holes.
Marieville55 I left the wire showing since they are just for me, but you could cut a piece of felt a little smaller then the finished piece and glue it on the back.
Too confussing for my age, but i loved it! It looks so pretty on u it makes a statement. I sew. 😊 By the way thanks for teaching us so much at such an early age you are an inspiration.
@deelightfulco Aww :) Sometmes Annie shows no interest in my stuff...but other days she walks back and forth across everything! So awesome that you're going to donate your hair too :)
Whitney Sews Thanks for taking the time to write. I will post a pic if I get one done presentable. By the way, the addition of that cute doggie nose was wonderful.
Gail Crandall Thank you! I agree. I personally don't like watching tutorials that are in real time speed if it's a step that is super simple or repetitive.
I am a fairly new jewelry maker so I do know some of the types of findings you use so I can follow faster. There might be some who are even newer so it takes a little more time. When you are just starting you don't even know what a jump ring is....thanks for this video
maria casillas If it's still loose then cut another long piece of wire and go back through each button a couple of more times and make sure each button is linked to as many others as possible instead of just the one that is right next to it. It's just trial and error to figure out how many times to go through each button for the layout you're making.
me encanto este collar felicidades gracias x compartir me lo voy hacer me encantan los botones disculpa que lo escriba en espanol espero que lo entiendas muchas felicidades cd.juarez, chih. mexico

How DO you know how to do all of these crafty things????? I love watching your work.
@jatoha Hehe I try to avoid glueing things together whenever possible...I like to make sure the things I make will last :)
I love it! Awesome look. I've been wanting to do make a button necklace for a long time. This video has totally motivated me now. Thank you for sharing. :)
I just made one and it turned out better than I expected! Thanks for the tutorial!
Your new hair cut is very suiting! And what a great cause XO
Thank you for the vid too of course lol
What an adorable necklace and it looks super easy to do. I've been making jewelry with polymer clay lately and I thought about making some one of a kind buttons just for this project. Thanks again!
SUSIE Peterson-LaLonde That is a great idea to make OOAK clay buttons for the necklace!
I've started making a few buttons recently and as soon as I get enough buttons made I will take a photo of them before starting the necklace and if it turns out the way I'd like it to I will take a photo after as well and post it on my page here at google. Thanks again!
Your hair looks great and another excellent tutorial!
Wow, I would have to try and play with this design to see what I come up with.Love it!!!

Love, love, love you hair! So flattering. Oh, and I really like the necklace too :)
You make it look so easy! Mine turned out awful....lol! I love yours, wish you could make mine for me, I have some gorgeous crystal like buttons and those thick crystal flatbacks with holes.
Great idea, TFS! Do you leave the back of the necklace with the wires showing, or can you cover it? Thanks.
Marieville55 I left the wire showing since they are just for me, but you could cut a piece of felt a little smaller then the finished piece and glue it on the back.
@demiking2005 I just used a bunch of buttons from my stash :)
Did u cut ur hair? Cuz it looks really nice.
What is that beautiful song I hear in the background?
Love the haircut and the tutorial! I can't wait to make my own button necklace!
Too confussing for my age, but i loved it! It looks so pretty on u it makes a statement. I sew. 😊
By the way thanks for teaching us so much at such an early age you are an inspiration.

@deelightfulco Aww :) Sometmes Annie shows no interest in my stuff...but other days she walks back and forth across everything! So awesome that you're going to donate your hair too :)
i didn't catch the part when she said "my necklace is not as sturdy as i wanted to be"...what should i do if that happen?
nice haircut! your necklace look really pretty! :D
I love this, this would make awesome Christmas presents! Tfs! Also I love your new haircut! ~Ashley~ :)

These are gorgeous xxx
Love this tutorial! I will try to do one!
thanks a lot for sharing it!
Very cool!
I really like you and your work ♥
@cantfiteveryheart It is Look Busy by Kevin MacLeod :)
@devondevan Thanks :)
I don't think you are specific enough on how you thread on the buttons
@Squishytrishy Thanks :)
I think I would have just hot glued them onto a piece of felt as the wire would be a bit uncomfortable and could possibly jab and poke you.
@theninjasailor Hehe thanks :)
Do you make button bracelets
Gail Crandall I don't, but you definitely could. I would do about half of it with buttons and the other half the chain.
Whitney Sews Thanks for taking the time to write. I will post a pic if I get one done presentable. By the way, the addition of that cute doggie nose was wonderful.
You did a good job. I actually like the speed as some are so slow I get bored.
Gail Crandall Thank you! I agree. I personally don't like watching tutorials that are in real time speed if it's a step that is super simple or repetitive.

Great idea. Will need to try this. Hugs Eva
so hard to do it, i try but is too loose maybe my wire is not good.
maria casillas If it's still loose then cut another long piece of wire and go back through each button a couple of more times and make sure each button is linked to as many others as possible instead of just the one that is right next to it.
