I drove a roll off semi trailer for a glass recycling outfit. 70% of the jobs were roll offs at rural landfills for the 3 colors of bottles. Not too many problems with overweight in a 45 yard container. Except for one little town dump that the employee spent all of his spare time smashing the bottles down to small pieces, then they were HEAVY. Solution was never give them a 45 yard roll off, always bring them a 30 yard. Same thing for the storefront plate glass businesses. We had one place that would overfill the 30 yard roll off every time, no matter how many times we told them to call us sooner for pickup. So we ended up cutting them back to 15 yard low side roll offs, which they continued to overload with plate glass stacked 1-2 feet over the low sides. As a driver, all we would do was put the boom up until the foot roller touched the ground, then winch the box up that almost vertical boom and spill off all that glass that was stacked above the sidewall onto the ground. They STILL never learned!
Nice job, you handled that like a professional. At the end of the day you're in business to make money. It sounds like you came ahead on this one despite it being a headache. You're very fortunate that you have the equipment to unload an over filled dumpster. Just image what you would have done if you had to empty it by hand. Thanks for sharing your journey. I've learned alot from you. Ken with Blessed Are We LLC
No way!! I run a rolloff truck. I have a class a cdl, so I run a lot of the 50 yards. Most of the time, I'm in the straight truck hauling 30's and 40's. We haul scrap metal. We have people break contracts and they either fix it or we dump it on the spot and leave. We don't fix it for them. On a side note; What class of carts are you running? I used to run the modified 5 horse. Loved the dirt tracks!!
Heavy duty cans and trucks, these dumpsters are our favorites. All that clean fill being mixed with trash makes it a trash load. 15,16t, whatever, and 3t is trash, 1 ton is light iron and the rest goes as clean fill? Love it. This is why we have a transfer station so we can legally (in PA) sort these loads and handle appropriately.
I word at republic services and there is a reason the biggest roll off we allow for concrete is a 20 y and they actually make specific roll off for concrete and they are expensive to buy new because loading up 30 and 40 yarders damages the roll off just from dropping it 7 feet on the floor
Great information! Just slow down on the camera movement and your talent to explain what is going on. Rock on brother! And that machine is a work horse! I know! Be safe and make money with a great reputation!!!!!!
Appreciate the feedback man! Have been trying to find a good style for videos. if the channel keeps growing, I hope to add an editor so I'm not filming these and stitching it on my phone!

So couple of things 1. You said about how did they expect the dumpster to leave alot of roll-offs iny world are 20 yarder and they are haulled with a tri-alxe that can eat 20 tons 2. As for dealing with it what do the hey we will take it but its x5 the total cost or i dp it and leave yea wear and tear but a 6x pay day is a big win
All I can say as a person who’s worked for himself for about my whole life. I wish you best in your endeavors. And put some away for rainy days for clouds are always a gathering.
I’m looking at getting into the dumpsters, I’m definitely considering starting out at CDL weight with a 18k trailer than having a custom done concrete/dirt container, just for stuff like this, so they can’t load it way over etc. not many people doing the concrete over here. I know alot of landscapers who do whole patios etc and would be a goto especially for them
Anyone that thinks you Charge too much have Never owned a business and they should. Not because they won’t last long. That is a Guarantee and a Promise. 👍
We run f 550 and a couple ram 5500 with 10k hooklifts. We've ran into a couple situations lile that and have very detailed allowed/not allowed lists on the bins themselves and weight estimates. Bottom line if we cant pick it up, it's the customers responsibility and they will be charged a daily penalty. We have 95 bins and during the summer months they are all booked so it really screws up our schedule.
Yep, incidents like this can derail us for days. That's why I give an option for us to take care of it. Because our daily "late fee rate" ads up and pressures larger companies to get it taken care of. Because their busy doing other things, and I need the can back!
@justsoicanfingcomment5814 I agree, and I would of given it to them. But I specifically asked if there was Going to be any concrete stone or hardfill debris work done. Of course they said no
I think you did a good job and what ever the reasons are at the time with your dumpster really is not a big deal, as long as you got paid what you deserve for your time. Sounds like you were nice guy with those contractors. well done !
I realize that this video is a year old and my comment is about your safety concerning your walking on the rails of the dumpster to secure the tarp . Have ya considered adding the sand paper adhesive so ya have a better grip , especially if it gets wet ? I’m planning on just starting out with my 14’ x6’x4’ landscaping trailer that has 4’ expanded metal walls and I’ll probably also add some plywood about 2’ wide in case I do a soil run . Keep up the good work .
This is the type of contractor that just needs to be blacklisted (Not the dumpster company but the remodel contractor) and told all violations will result in massive fines
Its like anything the way you treat rental equipment or even equipment you are not paying for yourself indicates the likelihood you may be conning someone or worse stealing
honestly I don't think you charged them enough for breaking contract and damaging equipment. you may want to refresh your contract language to outline a heavy fines for breaking contract with items like heavy fill when dealing with a potentially large contract like home deopt. a "fuck you" clause if you will, because really what they did doesn't just cost you time and a headache, lets say you had a employee under your company not paying attention, that much over weight I don't doubt that all in initial fill was 15-18 tons especially with all the rain. That kind of overweight with your equipment will eventually cost a driver their license, a business their operation and damage to equipment, most possibly life. the fines for breaking those clauses in your contract to such a degree should match. you may want to talk with a contract lawyer, but I personally for this kind of "fuck you" from those sub contractors and the person from homedepot that hired you should be responded in kind with a "no, fuck you." of a minimum doubling of extra daily/weekly fines and a $10,000 damaged equipment fine, $10,000 over weight fine and a $10,000 contract breaking fine. The kind of contractors and subcontractors willing to do this to you and your dumpsters are willing to do far worse and undercut competition to seem competitive while being reckless. make a part of your companies daily operations pre/post trips trips a necessity, you start your trip/day by taking pictures of the current state of equipment, you do the same for when they are dropped off at a client, and again when picked up. this will help you keep track of equipment maintenance, and any damages. with the smaller equipment you run these kind of pre/post trips can be done in a matter of minutes. with the photos you just create a album for that date/client or better yet email yourself the pictures with a subject matter of "client name - Date to Date" just simply reply to your own emails with updated pictures for each portion of the pre/post trip process, this will keep a accurate log of equipment quality/status. there are apps that do this in the semi truck industry but you may not need them as a local small business of yourself and a couple others. samsara ELD works its just a hassle over just emailing yourself the pictures. You are in the equipment business for your personal expertise with what your equipment and business can handle. there are three tiers of business operators/operations. Tier 1. Industry leaders, they know their shit, they are the best of the best, the industry looks to them for advice and knowledge, they work with every important government official and business leader to make regulations and innovate to improve the sector. Tier 2 ( where you want to be and it seems like you are trying to be). These people and companies know their worth, they also should know most if not all what they need to know about your sector. they don't lowball, and rarely if ever offer discounts or breaks unless its for correcting mistakes(rare exceptions are for long standing customers, family, and friends.) these are the people that will find the most success in what they do. they know loosing a few customers on the low end offers is not only a benefit to the customer, but also themselves and the industry knowing this makes things safer, and more efficient for everyone. Tier 3. these people and companies know enough to be dangerous. people in the upper portion of this tier are still learning their worth, and are actively trying to improve by either being an apprentice or trial by fire. these people in upper tier 3 know caution, and respect. The lower portion of this tier are the worst of the worst, its where the bottom feeders are. the lower portion of this tier tend to be spiteful, they offer the lowest bid at every cost so long as they make a dime they don't give a shit about you or the customer, they are here to get in and get out. as long as they don't get hurt its not their problem. leaving a wake of burnt bridges these people hurt all industry and relationships. they are extremely dangerous. Lower Tier 3 are the subcontractor/contractor that hired you, somebody is lying straight to your face(by all means it looks like the subcontractors) and they should be fined/treated accordingly. the ONLY way to keep these kind of trash spiteful people out of any industry is to hit them where it hurts the most, right in their greed, by snatching their wallet and lighting that bitch on fire. you need a back bone to leave these people on the bridge they are actively burning. Fining these types of people/companies its not spite, you don't even need to hate them, you can hope them all the best. you just need to draw clear cut lines in the sand, they will end up burning themselves down. hopefully in the process of doing so, they learn a valuable lesson and if they are reborn in a new or even the same industry they come back as a phoenix with new perspective earning their way to upper tier 3, and maybe even tier 2. It sounds like you are still learning your worth. don't worry about charging too much, you have established yourself and seem to have effective advertising with consistent clients. you are well beyond the point to charging what you need to to get started. you also should know a reasonable rate for what you do. so don't worry about increasing the price too high or charging too many fines. if a new customer approaches you and says "but soso went with you a few months ago and recommended you saying you do this at this price" inform them that yes at that time your price/fines were as such but you need to grow as a small business, would love to work for them but at the updated reasonable price and you will maintain your quality while improving your services.
This is one of the best comments I've ever received. I appreciate you taking the time! Because I agree as well. And looking back, yea, I was way too easy on them in regards to this. Learned a lot from this entire experience.
24:54 the contractor has money to pay for incidentals, it comes out of the bonus money they get for finishing the contract early, stuff like that. I might of charged them double the extra tonnage. I might put that into the contract the customer signs I’m sure you already have your ducks in a row but think about DOUBLING OR EVEN TRIPLING. I’m a new subscriber here, third or forth video so far, I like it.. ❤
Got to love it when a contractor orders a 30yd bin and filled it with concrete or wet dirt. They fill it all the way to the top rim lol end up having a 20tonn bin 🤣 my boss ask what materials they are needed hauled away . If its concrete or similar materials we do the 20yd for concrete for this exact reason lol
I had a customer put 90,000 lbs of just ceramic blast media in a single 6,000lb empty 30yard container... Hoist on truck was rated for 60,000lbs... Truck with 30yard weighed 36000lbs and max grossed legally 73,000lbs without permit and was permitted up to 80,000lbs... Needless to say customer had to rent a mini excavator and second container to split the contents into.
I had one order a 30yard with liner then proceeded to fill under the liner with concrete mixer clean out and topped with asphalt chunks then filled again with more uncured concrete...which then cured in the week before they called it in for service... Customer ended up buying the 30o container since it was not serviceable and the container was never emptied by one of our drivers... Worst part it was a brand new 30o container.
That’s nothing. I heard about a guy, that knew a dude, that said he worked for a real hustler, whose brother’s cousin’s sister said she was screwing a guy, who swore he delivered a 40 yd dumpster to a job-site, on top of a mountain in the desert and first, the Contractor perfectly leveled the container, then filled it to the brim with radioactive, molten lead, waiting 3 months for it to cool and then glued feathers on top to disguise the contents. The dumpster service eventually had to obtain EPA Permits, design, Permit and build a new DOT approved road for access across a protected ravine in a National Park, which required relocation of 11 gopher tortoises. Then rent a 150 ton crane to load it onto a 22 axle Heavy Haul Rig, take it to the regional port and then have it shipped straight to the battery factory in Gwaong Chang, China, only to be returned to the U.S. as EV batteries. So in the end, they were legally allowed to charge the Contractor and finally granted by the SCOTUS, $7.3 Billion to pull that dumpster. Fun story huh? 🤣
Def would of done that for them, if I knew there was going to be hard fill in there. I was told multiple times there was just "light construction material from inside"
Years ago I filled a 20 yarder to the top with concrete. The guys wheels came off the ground about 4ft. I nearly shat myself, because I thought he wouldn't take it. He said it wasn't a problem, I' just have to take the back roads to the dump (way overloaded). Now I just overload my dump truck.
Hey I could be completely wrong but when you point out the metal being split looks like it was full of water and froze which swells and bust the metal like that hard to tell tho
I could see how it looks like that, but this is actually our newest can, it hasn't actually seen winter yet! I think think the rust look is just from it sitting there. And water probably has got in, because it was there quite a while. From what I can tell, it's from the concrete being poured and beating against one side. That frame basically was just holding the doors together as best it could, but eventually something had to "give". There are a couple supports that look like they "buckled" if that makes sense. And I think it's from the pressure of the dumpster trying to keep its shape with the doors closed I could be totally wrong, but this dumpster was it the best shape before this rental lol.
The scrap could of been hauled to a scrap yard if one close some of the other stuff you have to pay premium to get rid of here they have places that takes concrete and asphalt to recycle some people try to get away with anything lucky d o t didn't get you i had places to dump anything we owned a landfill sorry people don't understand that it's all money if you separate it cost more to dump 17:09
Maxxd are incredibly heavy duty, compared to other brands (in their class). But I will not say they should be used to pick up loads like this. Honestly, this load would of been appropriate for a triaxle dump truck or semi dumpster rig. We have picked up some pretty heavy loads that were rated well above the trailers capacity. But if we had attempted this, it would have been a record for us, and incredibly dangerous. With our trailer and truck combo, we are legal at about 6.5 tons (and that's pretty heavy compared to an average dumpster we service). Of course there are times we pick things up that are a bit heavier, but you don't know until it's emptied. But it's definitely the biggest risk factor in the business.
I’ve never rented a dumpster that didn’t specify in the concrete about shingles, dirt, stone, asphalt, concrete etc. He will take those items there are just limitations. He puts a dotted line on the outside of the dumpster that is the fill line for those items listed above.
I'm guessing you must primarily use a 2500. My 2500 doesn't keep the trailer charged quote as well as the 3500 HD. But there are kits you can also get to run power straight from your trucks alternator to the trailer. You'll never plug your trailer in again
@@rollingops I have a 3500hd actually, but I might have to look into this kit you’re talking about that I can run power directly from the alternator to the trailer
When you said you pass the invoice on for the dump trucks I would tack on a service charge for taking your time to find it and line everything up You're now a contractor hiring a subcontractor you mark that stuff up
I do excavation, and I always say, I price the job to where I am not working for the machines. Easy to price things, then realize after maintenance, wear and tear, etc. You made next to nothing. Then your like the work for food guy. Or worst of all do a quick 2k job, accidently break something, and you lost all profits plus more
I was talking to the owner of the company that had a roll off at my old factory and his best story was one that the user set fire to the contents to be able to pack more in. Wood construction debris.
What you should do is put in the Contract. Is, if the Contract is broken, Have 3 Options added onto the Contract, Either They Empty The Dumpster, You can Empty the Dumpster for them for an Add Charge, Or You can will take the the Dumpster, But, will have to Charge them Extra for another Dumpster(s)*until puts you into correct legal weight requirement then on top of it. Charge them a Extra $500.00 Per Ton.
I gave a like ! I have same problems as you tell the contractor this is not designed for aggerate its made for junk not dirt not cement .Roofers are the worse
I think you need to get yourself a good dump truck and be completely self contained. If they are willing to pay get them what they want and let them pay the bill. You have an awesome business, I only see more and more avenues opening up for yourself. Maybe a light excavating business on the side with all your spare time.
Played the situation just right if you ask me. Spoil them with kindness while explaining the situation to them again! Then your able to keep charging the bejesus out of em
In my state, you have to have separate dumpsters for the metal, the asphalt, the concrete and the trash. Other than the trash, everything else goes to recycling facilities!!
I feel ya. I was doing a parking lot crack fill at an RDC last summer and the company said we could use their dumpster for our boxes. They had 3 dumpsters side by side one said metal, one said trash and one said cardboard. It painted on the dumpster and on the asphalt on all 4 sides. My idiot sub put all the boxes in the metal dumpster. I spent two hours handpicking all the cardboard out because other subs had already dumped large metal cabinets on top of the boxes. If they had not already driven home 8 hours away they would have definitely been doing it themselves but I needed to keep my customer happy since we had just done half a million LF of crack fill.
I would love to set up a simular business, I'm just not financially in the spot to buy the necessary equipment, I know it sounds silly but with currently having a 1/2 ton truck do you think buying 2 medium sized dump trailers might be a good start ? I am a disabled vet so I want to work, I have money to feed my family, I just need to cover operating expenses and build some income to grow it into a workable business. I've got 24 acres of land I live on and I could actually use a lot of that dirt and rock and concrete to raise it as I would like some more flood resistance. I would love to bring that kind of material out as often as possible, use my little tractor to burry it and build up the land
It really depends on your goals. I prefer roll offs because one trailer manages multiple bins. Which means only one trailer to insure, one trailer to plate, one set of tires, one set of brakes, batteries, etc.
You should always holdback 10% of any contractors money until you’re completely satisfied that the job is done correctly and that all their bills are paid.
They couldn’t have paid me enough to waste 3 days on concrete cleanup duty. I would have dumped the whole thing in the parking lot and sent them to collections for non payment.
IMO, they were too stupid to understand the contact and the guys on the job are probably used to having cans run by Rolloff/Hooklift trucks on other jobs. Those trucks have a far higher capacity and a much stronger winch/hook. There are companies out there that rent 20 yard dumpsters that allow them to be filled with concrete or dirt to the top. If the super on the job saw your drop it off or knew what your setup was I doubt you would’ve had that issue. The supers know that when the company gets back charged by a dumpster company they are going to get chewed out.
If possible I'd have used the trailer and the loader to tip the can and dump it in the lot. It'd have been so much faster to scoop up with a bobcat VS picking it out basically by hand. People suck though I hope you fined the crap out of them
So I didn't even fill it, but we attempted that. It could could hardly lift it, but I couldn't get the dump angle to actually poor it out. Maybe if I had both pieces of equipmemt at the same time we could have. As you saw, the whole thing was just a wreck
The dumpster is not in a secured area, so everyone and their dog was using it, also subs do not care at all about the dumpster restrictions, they will bring waste from home and other sites to dispose, its just a free dumpster for them.
Typically yea I'd agree with this. And yea they didn't care. But everything that was in this Dumpster was 100% them. Unless someone showed up with 12 truck loads of Concrete and tried to slip it in 😄. The company definitely admitted to it all. And paid. So it worked out.
i would suggest getting a CDL and if funds permit get an older truck to turn into a roll off if you can't find one in that set up. this way 1, you get more bussiness 2. you earn more money and expand your bussiness and scope of work 3. you dont need to pay a contractor
that ain't fair or right thing to do to the home depot though. not their fault that the contractors they hired for the job, ended up hiring inconsiderate and incompetent pricks for sub contractors
as the one who has to empty every dumpster that shows up at my place with my excavator i hate when people do this. i have to sort out as much metal and concrete before i can put it all in a trailer to be hauled away
You don't mark up your subcontractors fee? I would charge 15% on whatever they are charging. Not hating though this is an awesome channel thanks for taking the time to post!
I had a customer today fill a 20 yard dumpster completely full with wet muddy dirty and tried to hide it with branches. I figured it out when the hook lifts cylinders bypassed. I did not pick it up and charged them a trip charge. A tandem axle dump truck usually has a bed that big!

Some places just don't listen or don't care! It can be frustrating, but adapting is key!

I word at republic services and there is a reason the biggest roll off we allow for concrete is a 20 y and they actually make specific roll off for concrete and they are expensive to buy new because loading up 30 and 40 yarders damages the roll off just from dropping it 7 feet on the floor
Appreciate your comment, might shine some perspective on things!
I think you did a amazing job handling this situation 👍🏾 great job. I actually plan on expanding to renting dumpsters next year when I get out military. Currently rent cars and houses.
Get it! Appreciate the feedback, keep grinding!
some of these comments are crazy. i love your videos man, been binge watching them last few days. motivating to say the least
Appreciate ya my man! Got to have thick skin if you post on youtube, everyone's an expert. Appreciate guys like you, I'm not perfect, but we're out here just trying to put in the work and solve problems!
I own my own business as well and i get told all the time you should charge more etc.. I tell everyone I'm here to make some money not rob someone. As long as my bills are paid and putting some extra in bank I'm happy.
I feel exactly the same. I want the return business
So couple of things 1. You said about how did they expect the dumpster to leave alot of roll-offs iny world are 20 yarder and they are haulled with a tri-alxe that can eat 20 tons
100% appreciate your comment and checking in on this vid! Definitely need rainy day funds, because you're right, it's always somethin!
I’m looking at getting into the dumpsters, I’m definitely considering starting out at CDL weight with a 18k trailer than having a custom done concrete/dirt container, just for stuff like this, so they can’t load it way over etc. not many people doing the concrete over here. I know alot of landscapers who do whole patios etc and would be a goto especially for them
Hopefully they pay their invoice when the bill comes due
5:55 the only thing that would look better is a dually. But if you don't need it. I skipped. Did you get a final weight on that load?
I agree, and no, but from experience, well over 12 tons.
What’s a rub rail and what is it used for. What should it not be used for and in a roll over how strong is tig spot welding
Anyone that thinks you Charge too much have Never owned a business and they should. Not because they won’t last long. That is a Guarantee and a Promise. 👍
I absolutely agree! Thanks for watching
Around here that metal would be gone before you finished unloading. Glad you came out financially ahead despite all the extra work you had to do.
My opinion, your being more then fair, good for you.
Appreciate that!
You need smaller dumpsters for hard fill, rocks and concreat etc.
So it is impossible to be overloaded.
Sounds like you were nice guy with those contractors. well done !
Appreciate that! Just today's headache, but we got it done
Welcome to renting equipment. U rent shit out its coming back fucked up
I realize that this video is a year old and my comment is about your safety concerning your walking on the rails of the dumpster to secure the tarp .
What you charged them is spot on maybe a little under what you should of what a head ache😂
It was a day for sure, but ended up alright. Glad it's over
"Su dolor de cabeza es mi dolor de cabeza" (Their headache is my headache)
Cheers!
Absolutely!
This is the type of contractor that just needs to be blacklisted (Not the dumpster company but the remodel contractor) and told all violations will result in massive fines
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks so.
That was a read. 😂 100% agree.
$4000 seems reasonable, consider the 5 weeks time with dumpster, plus skid and excavator usage for loading and unloading.
When you say pass on the invoice of the dump truck. You're passing on the cost without a small mark up?
No, I misspoke, that's exactly what we're doing. I'm passing the work to him. But it will be billed through me
24:54 the contractor has money to pay for incidentals, it comes out of the bonus money they get for finishing the contract early, stuff like that. I might of charged them double the extra tonnage. I might put that into the contract the customer signs I’m sure you already have your ducks in a row but think about DOUBLING OR EVEN TRIPLING. I’m a new subscriber here, third or forth video so far, I like it.. ❤
Oh yeaaaa. Our contract looks a bit different now! Ha
@@KING-FU except mine actually happened... I drive roll off for a living.
Thanks for your vid! What brand rolloff trailer do you have?
Maxxd!
The dumpsters we use have a clear mark on them that says if loading concrete max fill line. Just an idea.
Def would of done that for them, if I knew there was going to be hard fill in there. I was told multiple times there was just "light construction material from inside"
I think if you add a snatch block it will extend the life of your winch by dividing the work load on the winch.
Gonna look into that.
Years ago I filled a 20 yarder to the top with concrete. The guys wheels came off the ground about 4ft. I nearly shat myself,
because I thought he wouldn't take it. He said it wasn't a problem, I' just have to take the back roads to the dump (way overloaded). Now I just overload my dump truck.
Ooof yea, those are the not so good days. Easy way for us to tear up some equipment
And I think it's from the pressure of the dumpster trying to keep its shape with the doors closed
I could be totally wrong, but this dumpster was it the best shape before this rental lol.
There a little more expensive but would you say max d is the brand to go with for handling situations like this for stuff not breaking
@@rollingops ok thanks for replying and loved the video
I’ve never rented a dumpster that didn’t specify in the concrete about shingles, dirt, stone, asphalt, concrete etc. He will take those items there are just limitations. He puts a dotted line on the outside of the dumpster that is the fill line for those items listed above.
Your picking up dumpsters with that tiny truck?
Every day, couple times a day.
Dude how do you keep your batteries charged up? I’m having so much trouble keeping a charge on my maxxd
When you said you pass the invoice on for the dump trucks I would tack on a service charge for taking your time to find it and line everything up You're now a contractor hiring a subcontractor you mark that stuff up
Yea, I should of explained that different. That's exactly how it went.
What home depot is it ( ware is it located) ?
I do excavation, and I always say, I price the job to where I am not working for the machines. Easy to price things, then realize after maintenance, wear and tear, etc. You made next to nothing. Then your like the work for food guy.
Or worst of all do a quick 2k job, accidently break something, and you lost all profits plus more
That crack looks like water filled inside & split when frozen, Not new rusty
100%
Did you charge them extra?
Bro, you should watch the whole vid!
@@rollingops I did
I was talking to the owner of the company that had a roll off at my old factory and his best story was one that the user set fire to the contents to be able to pack more in.
I'm liken that
I wonder how much that concrete weighs let alone if it can be physically towed away.
I gave a like ! I have same problems as you tell the contractor this is not designed for aggerate its made for junk not dirt not cement .Roofers are the worse
Do ya separate and save the metal for a future metal run to make money off of it ?
I think you need to get yourself a good dump truck and be completely self contained. If they are willing to pay get them what they want and let them pay the bill. You have an awesome business, I only see more and more avenues opening up for yourself. Maybe a light excavating business on the side with all your spare time.
How about a really old dump truck lol?
Played the situation just right if you ask me. Spoil them with kindness while explaining the situation to them again!
Then your able to keep charging the bejesus out of em
I should have probably charged a few more "bejesuses" - but yea haha
In my state, you have to have separate dumpsters for the metal, the asphalt, the concrete and the trash. Other than the trash, everything else goes to recycling facilities!!
California?
Lol bet me too it but I was thinking Cali too
11:05 love the bromoerotic humor and mom jokes lol
spot on with the whole thing but id buy a single axle dump for the fleet
That would be a cool addition 😎
I hope you got paid a pretty penny for that work. They want another one hell yeah, they do it again the price doubles 🤷♂️ Business
Yep, they did get another and paid for it as well. But was happy when this whole project was finished
Oooof, I felt this one. 😪
Great job…I understand business is business.
Not petty at all, they broke your stuff they should pay!
Felt the same!
Do you take the metal and scrap it ?
Yep, in situations like this
@@rollingops I’m thinking about getting into the business but I’m scared 😔
good choices!!! I do the same for the Comanche Nation. but our service is free to our tribal members. I do run into the same headaches tho!
There is always somethin!
Price seems low to me. But I'm new to this.
Definitely dependent on your area. But we also wanted to get paid, so it's a delicate balance!
Not at all. You under charged em for wasting your time. Family time costs 10x.
Definitely nailed that! So underrated
What state are you in brother?
IL
Where do you buy your trailers and roll off bins from?
Sancrest in Billings MO
That is crazy that scrappers didn't take the metal. You'd think the original guys would have scrapped it.
Yep, I was shocked to come back and see it still sitting there
They couldn’t have paid me enough to waste 3 days on concrete cleanup duty. I would have dumped the whole thing in the parking lot and sent them to collections for non payment.
Ahh, everything has a price. But looking back I was way to easy on them for this
That look is pride. 🙂
Which look?
IMO, they were too stupid to understand the contact and the guys on the job are probably used to having cans run by Rolloff/Hooklift trucks on other jobs. Those trucks have a far higher capacity and a much stronger winch/hook. There are companies out there that rent 20 yard dumpsters that allow them to be filled with concrete or dirt to the top. If the super on the job saw your drop it off or knew what your setup was I doubt you would’ve had that issue. The supers know that when the company gets back charged by a dumpster company they are going to get chewed out.
Maybe true, but I really couldn't have been more clear with them. It simply was one hand not talking to the other.
Did they stuff you or did you get paid
I made sure we got paid. Made for a very expensive one dumpster 😄
@@rollingops nice
If possible I'd have used the trailer and the loader to tip the can and dump it in the lot. It'd have been so much faster to scoop up with a bobcat VS picking it out basically by hand. People suck though I hope you fined the crap out of them
So I didn't even fill it, but we attempted that. It could could hardly lift it, but I couldn't get the dump angle to actually poor it out. Maybe if I had both pieces of equipmemt at the same time we could have. As you saw, the whole thing was just a wreck
We deal with the same crao in buffalo ny
Insane right?
@@rollingops I do hazardous waste and asbestos removal I k know
Whatcha shouldve done is taken all that stuff and dump on their business door step and charge them to replace the dumpster if they blew a side out.
Easiest way to have done it for sure
Open gate so while loading it all dumps out. Then call and let them know they need to clean up their mess.
that ain't fair or right thing to do to the home depot though. not their fault that the contractors they hired for the job, ended up hiring inconsiderate and incompetent pricks for sub contractors
as the one who has to empty every dumpster that shows up at my place with my excavator i hate when people do this. i have to sort out as much metal and concrete before i can put it all in a trailer to be hauled away
what do you use to edit your vids?
@ameripm my cell phone lol. I've never posted a video with anything but my cell phone actually.
@@rollingops capcut?

You don't mark up your subcontractors fee? I would charge 15% on whatever they are charging.
Not hating though this is an awesome channel thanks for taking the time to post!
I probably misspoke, but yes that's basically what we are doing. I should of said "pass on the work" instead of the invoice
I had a customer today fill a 20 yard dumpster completely full with wet muddy dirty and tried to hide it with branches. I figured it out when the hook lifts cylinders bypassed. I did not pick it up and charged them a trip charge. A tandem axle dump truck usually has a bed that big!
Eeeeek, the absolute worse! I'm sure the words "it won't be that heavy" were spoken before you dropped it off, too. Never fails!
Unless it's a good customer, it's not petty.
Appreciate that!
Jose would have got the job done and drinking beer by 5pm. Jose gonna take your job.
Probably right. I know "no way José" is just a saying. But I know a few guys who would of emptied by hand faster.
