From pictures I can find online, because of the small space they're in, it looks like they might have a potassium or magnesium deficiency. And it would make sense that the ones in soil look much better, since a deficiency there is less likely.

Probably I don’t fertilize it very often. They are hungry palms when they are in containers.

Hi James, how can you speed up growth of a Mexican fan palm?

Sometimes they always start off a little slower put it into a larger deeper pot. Try watering it more fertilizer get more and definitely as much sunlight as you could possibly give it. You could try bringing it in at night time and said he get on something like your TV or cable or router box that creates a lot of heat or water heater

I got some black spots on my medium Trachies too. Only on the smaller old fronds have it though. I think it’s sun burn.

It might be a little bit, but I think it’s mostly a deficiency

@@TheJames2929 could be, I use Osmocote Plus on my potted ones. Soon to go in the ground once we reach rain season.

Is this the same problem as black spots on Adonidias? I noticed some on the last yes update you posted.

It’s likely a deficiency I’m not exactly sure just a good palm tree fertilizer, or planting them in the ground would be my best recommendation for

Its crazy how it only takes 5 years for a sable palm to grow 10 feet..... Oh wait it takes 50 years

@@TheJames2929 yes, but I would say Moderate grower in the South. Look at Palms R Kool’s Palmetto. It grew fairly fast.
