The German Patato Salad is really quick and simple to make. Boil the potatoes with the skin on, drain and quickly toss in ice water for less then 5 seconds and, peal them with a knife and slice them up. Thinly slice up about half a cucumber and lightly salt it to get the water out. Prepare about a quarter litre of beef stock, mix in a few table spoons of oil and few table spoons of white wine vinegar. Dice a large onion up and mix into the broth, oil and vinegar mix. Add a tablespoon or two of hot mustard and mix up. Drain the cucumber, mix it up with the still warm potatoes, pour the broth, oil, vinegar dressing over it. Toss it, salt and pepper to taste and let it sit for a couple of minutes. Then enjoy it.
Perfect potato salad for summer because it doesn't contain any mayonnaise.
If you like you can add fried bacon bits or sliced hard-boiled eggs into it and serve with a sprinkle of freshly chopped parsley.

11:50 Leberkas (Bavarian pronounciation, in the rest of Germany it is Leberkäse or Fleischkäse), its basically finely minced pork which is then baked until firm and looks a bit like a loaf of bread. It is availiable all over germany but really a bavarian staple. It does not really taste like spam, has his own spice mix resembling something between sausage and ham and has a very distinct texture. You can eat it in different ways hot or cold (as cold cuts for example). My favourite is a Munich classic the Leberkassemmel (try to pronounce that hehe) it is warm Leberkas in a Bun. Usually they offer condiments with the Leberkassemmel but the correct answer is to decline because you are here to taste the meat not the ketchup.
    Greets from Munich.
Also to answer your Questions: Gelato is Italian, but they sometimes call Munich the northern most Town of Italy, because of the architecture. And Gelato is big in Germany (and all over europe really), we have a lot of people with Italian roots, so they brought it over in like the 50s with the first big wave of immigration and its like the most popular type of Icecream. Also I have been at the Giant Church the Frauenkirche as well as the second restaurant he has been in. More on the expensive side but quality food. Been on the third one too, also recommendable and more authentic, like there are are lot of locals going to the augustinerbräu and not necessarily that many tourits because this is the one a bit outside of the towncenter. There is another one of these right next to the city square but that one is a tourist trap so the guy in the vid chose wisely.
Bavarian Creme is a real thing.
Then the dumpling in the end is called a Knödel and this one is made from potato, starch and flour, there are also ones made from leftover buns, different kinds of liver and bretzel. THERE IS A MILLION WAYS TO PREPARE THOSE so I am not gonna list it.

Therefore in the Video it's veal (Wiener Schnitzel) and pork (German Schnitzel). You eat both with a not mayonnaise based potato salad. Made from a potato dough, made from old bread / bread rolls and made with a yeast dough.

Usually the factories here are pretty transperant and not too horrible.
Although I have never seen much of the factories in the US, so I can't say that we are better in that regard.

12:00 It is calle Livercheese (Leberkäse) or Fleischkäse (Meatcheese) but it contains neither liver nor cheese, the form is like a cheese and the texture is like liver. It's a sausage made from minced meats mostly pork and bacon somtimes mixed with beef, processed with crushed ice and spices it gets a soft texture, that in the past people with bad teeth or almost no teeth could eat. It's nothing like spam. It's good, you have to fry it brown on the sides for the best flavor. But honestly there are much better sausages here in germany, nevertheless some people love this.

(The Old Town Hall is like two buildings further, and was built in the late 14th century. They built the new one because the old one became too small for the city administration.)

about ALDI: there were two brothers who split up and agreed to each only have stores in one half of germany, and thus there are Aldi Nord and Aldi Süd. one owns trader joe for years, and the other more recently went to the usa with the original name ALDI.
if you go to Aldi, prepare for the german experience of paying deposit with some coin to use a cart (so that you return carts yourself), see items in their original big boxes/containers and also sitting cashiers (good for their health and also faster), get dizzy from the speed of checking out items, and bag items yourself, fast. they also have a reduced selection of brands and lots of "own/noname brands". many americans don't like some or all of this, but all these measures help making low prices. afterall, Albrecht is their surname, and they are a discounter, as the company name already tells: ALbrecht DIscount :-)

"Gelato" is italian for ice cream. Since the italian influence on german or southern german cuisine is quiet strong, it has become kind of "hip" to say gelato instead of "Eiscreme" or simply "Eis". Then the italians are supposed to be the kings of ice cream making, "gelato" sounds better - there are a lot of italian "gelaterias" in germany, too. But ice cream (Eiscreme) is still the real word for it in the real world...

The potato ball is 100% potato and some salt. There is usually a small bread-cruton in the middle. Its made of grinded potato, half is cooked and half is raw. Its not as thin grinded as mashed potato. Then you form a ball and cook it. You will need a dish with gravy for it, you cant eat that without.

There's actually a reason why French fries are called french fries. During WWII, American soilders were stationed in Belgium 🇧🇪 , French is one of Belgium's official languages ( Dutch and German being the l other two. Dutch is spoken in the Flanders region and is the co- official language along with French in Brussels which is encapsulated within the Flanders region and itself is known as the capital region as well as being the de facto capital of the European Union) . American GIs saw a food seller frying up shoe string potatoes and the seller was French speaking and was seeking their fried potatoes in or near Brussels. When Gis got back stateside, they brought French fries and Belgian waffles which is also a common street food in Belgium with them.

In Belgium we don't differentiate between ice cream and gellato, it's all called ice cream.
We have curryworst in Belgium too, very popular in the "Frituur" (=fries shop), although here we call it "Frikandel". We don't cut it up in pieces and have it sitting in the sauce though but have it as a whole and than dip it in sauce. You can also have a "Frikandel Special" which is the frikandel sliced open and filled with chopped onion, mayo and ketchup (either regular ketchup or curry-ketchup). Then you also have a "Viandel", which is Frikandel with batter around it.
I like German food, one thing though is that it's a rather heavy cuisine and with big meat portions compared to what I'm used to in Belgium.

Bayrisch Creme (served with a compote of wild berries or with fresh blueberries / strawberries and raspberries):
    150 ml milk
    ½ vanilla pod(s)
    2 ½ sheets gelatine (white)

    50 g sugar

I can't remember if it is only beef or beef and pork mixed. There are also recipes and how to make it yourself on UA-cam. It is mixed with spices and baked in the oven like a meatloaf. It can be eaten hot like a meal and also hot or cold on a bun (broetchen)

Sorry, but Bavarian cream is NOT a french dessert. Former named "Rahmsulz" (Cream aspic) because Bavarian Cream contains "Rahm" (cream) and gelantin. So it is like a the italian Panna Cotta.
Historically Bavarian creme came to France 1385 when Elisabeth from Bavaria married King Karl VI from France.
It's a little bit difficult to say, which dish in Europe is originally is from which country, because of the marriage strategy of the noble houses in Europe. So they often take there chefs with them, so a "foreign" dish became popular in the "new" country.

Leberkas could be Translated as livercheese, wich would be absolutly wrong Leber comes from Laib or loaf and kas is another word für Brät wich is the sausage dough you stuff into the skin.. it is a sort of big sausage but a special sort. The Frauenkirche (Full name: German: Dom zu Unserer Lieben Frau, lit. 'Cathedral of Our Dear Lady') is the Munic cathedral, if you walk down the aile?! and around thr main altar theres a stairway down to the crypt with the remains of Ludwig III and Emperor Louis IV. the Thign with the sword, and no it is not an real sword its not even the real statue (to many people cant keep their hands to them) , is the Cenotaph of Emperor Louis IV. left of that is the side entrace he came in, to the right you would come to the main entrance between the Towers, pasing by the Devils footprint (wich has german footsize 50) and on the far right from there the munic crib is stored. The Towers can theoretical be seen from everywhere in munic, as by law no building is alowed to be taller than 99m. The north tower is about half an meter taller than the south. The reason why the Tower has some scaffolding is renovation (the old girl is a little to moist). there is a saying that after the devil, after leaving the footprint left munic so enraged that he kicked the steeple cross of St. Peter, turning it 90 degres so it does not face west as it would be typical. Munich was first mentioned in a document in 1158. and Currywurst... we have a lot of good food but Currywurst ist not one of them. The blue toitoi thing is an construction site toilet and the yelow exhaust is the upper part of an beerkettle. Bavarian cream, crème bavaroise or simply bavarois is a dessert consisting of milk thickened with eggs and gelatin, into which whipped cream is folded. Bavarian cream is a classic dessert that was included in the repertoire of chef Marie-Antoine Carême, who is sometimes credited with it. It is an dumpling. And no Nothing absolutly Nothing in this video is SPAM defenetly not. Wurstsalat is made with Regensburger Sausage. And yes been there once or twice

Gelato is a big thing in all over Europe. It's just the name of ice cream based on recipes from Italy. Italian ice cream is by far the most common in Europe. There are other roots as well like Danish ice cream but less common and in Germany only available in the northern parts like Schleswig-Holstein which was danish for a while. Most ice cream parlors sell wholesale ice cream that they bought finished or as ready-to-use mixtures that will mixed with the liquids (milk/cream) and cooled down. Very few parlors create their very own ice cream without convenience products for gastronomy. US based ice cream like concrete is mostly unknown in Germany. It has to be a little bit warmer than yours so that it starts to melt the second you get it (as far as I know).
Currywurst is a must eat in Germany: Originally Bratwust - sometimes boiled sausage especially in North Germany - covered in a ketchup based sauce with spices. There are so many recipes out there but it has sweet and sourness, saltyness, pepperiness. All of them slightly over the top so that they harmonize with the sausage and the sides (french fries or bread). I prefer a sauce based on ketchup with reduced coke/pepsi or fruit juice, onion, garlic, pepper and chili. Finalizing the plate arrangement with curry powder on top of the sauce and sausage.
Bavarian Cream or Bayrisch Creme is a local dessert in South Germany. You can compare it to pudding or crème brûlée. Bavarian cream, crème bavaroise or simply bavarois is a dessert consisting of milk thickened with eggs and gelatin or isinglass, into which whipped cream is folded. The mixture sets up in a cold mold and is unmolded for serving.
The potato ball is what we call potato dumplings: Kartoffelklöße or Kartoffelknödel. Dumplings made from potato dough based on raw grated and/or mashed potatoes, flour, eggs and starch, often seasoned with nutmeg.

Schnitzel is a typical Austrian dish. The original (Austrian) schnitzel is made from veal ... which is pounded very thinly and then breaded with flour / egg and breadcrumbs. It is eaten without a side dish, only with a mixed salad and / or potato salad. All other schnitzel, for example. Made from pork, only Viennese-style schnitzel can be called. The Germans have the most disgusting variants with dunking (sauce) over a breaded schnitzel .. gruesome. And YES I'm from Austria!
