I really don’t get it. Not only does it look worse, it’s GOT to be way more expensive to design and manufacture than a simpler, more elegant design. It would be one thing if it resulted in super slick bot and alt modes, and while the alt mode looks pretty good here the bot mode just looks bad, specifically *because* of the engineering. Who’s this design philosophy even for?
The back part of the van isn't painted blue because that's not a window. It only looks like a window because of the way it's designed. The real van is like this as well. It just transition well into the toy because it's painted. If it wasn't painted, it'll probably transition better.
Yeah.... I couldn't get on with the look of the Iron Hide but this guy looks better. Maybe the colour palette coupled with Ratchet not needing to look like a brawler just suit the mold better. Also, if you are going to cut yourself, where better to do so than with Ratchet!

I really needed Xtransbots to get this right because Takara's is really good, but not great and Fanstoys is probably going to be way too cartoon in both modes which I dont like because its gone too far and too simplified/clean... So I guess I am stuck with Takara even though the chest doesnt look right on theirs either... no one can seem to get this right...
I bought a KO Ironhide and "Modified it," myself to make it more screen accurate. Like removing the front bumper and the side skirts,He can't transform, well, he can but looks hilarious! 😂 So I keep my official in alt mode and my KO as bot. I'd rather it's all in one, but I agree, FT will probably be way to g-1. Have to wait and see, But modifying a KO is an option. He looks damn good.
@18:57 wow look at the messy hole at the top of the bicep into the shoulder. It looks like someone in the factory just roughly cut it with a dremel and went to lunch. Oh, they probably don't get lunch. :/ Either way, it's probably the same guy who puts the QC stickers on! Lol And is that abrasion at 20:17 around the edges of the slot where the waist locking tab is supposed to go in? And the soles of his feet are windows. I'd be very careful what surfaces you pose him on, because that blue paint is getting scratched. I don't want to be mean, but this Ratchet and Ironhide just look tacky and cheap. They don't look "masterpiece" at all. I wouldn't be surprised if they end up in the spare parts shoebox long before the official Takara Ratchet and Ironhide each give up the ghost. The sad fate of many XTBs.

A friend once wanted a TF tattoo and acknowledged that the cartoon wasnt it. Then he went for Marvel Comics for inspiration. Ended up going toon.
