Here's another fun fact: You mentioned how every single Gym Leader (minus Opal) and every Rival appear around the Isle of Armor after you finish the game, however, every single one of those trainers is seen walking with their signature Pokemon, except Milo. While Milo has a different signature Pokemon in every battle (an Eldegoss in the initial gym battle, a Flapple in Sword rematches, and an Appletun in Shield rematches) he is seen walking with none of those three Pokemon, instead being seen with a Tsareena, a Pokemon that he is never seen battling with. However, you do battle a Dynamax Tsareena in the post story with Swordward and Shielbert, and Milo does offer to take care of that Tsareena after the battle (as do all of the Gym Leaders), it can be assumed that he caught and made Tsareena a permanent member of his team.
Take as much time as you need, Toby. I really enjoy your videos, but your health is most important. I'll gladly wait longer for more videos if it means that you are taking more time to focus on self-health. Take care, and soar high!
I always thought Galar had a gym for every type, and that the eight gyms that featured every time a new gym challenge started were dependant on how the gym leaders performed in the championships.
@@Retro_Red When I heard there were major and minor gyms in Galar I was disappointed that we didn't get to have battles in all 18 of them. They could have had 1 gym of each type in Sword and Shield with a ninth type exclusive as your rival training to become a gym leader per game, with the other 9 types that are version exclusive as major gyms being the 9 minor gyms in the other versions.
Fun fact Klara is a poison type trainer becouse of her toxic personality Also kangaskan spawns in the warm up tunnel as a rare overworld spawn and cubones line spawn in the warm up tunnel supporting theory number 4
There are several games where Cubone and Kangaskhan spawn in the same area. An example is Wela Volcano in the Alola region where Cubone can call in a Kangaskhan. (I was actually shiny hunting Cubone and found a shiny Kangaskhan this way)
While the Max Honey bit is interesting, I think ingame it still requires 3 Max Shrooms AND a Max Honey. Urshifur just doesnt like the taste of mushrooms and refuses to eat/drink the pure shroom soup, thats why the player has to sweeten it up with Honey. And I wouldn't even connect it to Sinnoh so much as more "bear likes honey".
This is almost a year old and probably no longer relevant, but I'm saying it anyway: The "bear likes honey" thing is the obvious explanation, but it -is- was a meme in the Pokémon community to make Sinnoh remakes theories, just like the "Hoenn confirmed" meme a few years ago, so it should be taken as a joke, though now it has become reality.
6:57 I think the Charmander is the one Leon picked when he trained on the Isle of Armor and it’s his Charizard Also those Bulbasaur and Squirtle can already Gigantimax you don’t need to give them Max Soup
I like to think that Leon didn't bother with that Charmander. Mustard's league card doesn't say he was champion up until the rigged match, it says he was champion for a long time and then separately it says he was undefeated for a period of time and decided not to win a rigged match. So this rigged match, I think, was not a champion v. challenger match, and could still very well be Leon v. Mustard. In which case, Leon could think poorly of Mustard and refuse to train up a Charmander. It could still be Leon's Charizard. I wonder what happens if you to to the Isle of Armor for the first time while having Leon's Charmander in your party.
WAIT, they're given to you with the gmax mark?!?! I remember feeing the soup to my Venasaur and being confused when it didn't gmax. Did I get rid of the mark by feeding it again??
2:00 "but Klara doesn't looks like a ninja" this is absolutely my favorite quote, XD well, she did spread out toxic spikes right before our battle against her, which is quite a trademark of what ninja usually do she is an idol huh, imagine Klara having a duet with Piers, hmm...
Fun fact 1: if you stand in front of Mustard's tv long enough, he will ask you to move. Fun fact 2: if you release or trade away Kubfu after you get it, you can completely skip the part of the story where you have to befriend Kubfu. Then when you choose which tower you want to take on, they will allow you to use other Pokémon as opposed to normally only being allowed to use Kubfu. After you battle Mustard at the top, it will skip his speech and him showing you the tapestry since you don't have Kubfu anymore. Because you didn't have Kubfu for the battle with Mustard and didn't really complete the story, you cannot have a rematch with Mustard and get his rare league card.
Very true perhaps it was more of a training segment she did in galar but before where she originated from must've been unova meeting roxie having a history with her and thus started klara's dream to becoming a poison gym leader herself in galar
About the theory/easter egg of "Was it Leon who took over from Mustard in being the Champion?" The answer is a no. Mustard became Champion 50 years ago and was undefeated for 18 years, meaning he was defeated 32 years ago. Leon is no older than 18 (going off of his looks, mostly). The other erason why it couldn't have been Leon is because Leon trained at the Master Dojo, which wasn't founded until AFTER Mustard retired. Meaning an unspecified amount of time after he lost the title of Champion because, as we see in his Rare League Cards, after he lost the title of Champion, he continued being a trainer until the rigged match.
Great video, as always. Glad we still have little bits of trivia to enjoy while you take your well-deserved break =) glad to always have you here, Toby!
One other possible Easter Egg from Sword Version is Dunsparce's Pokedex entry- "This Pokémon's tiny wings have some scientists saying that Dunsparce used to fly through the sky in ancient times." This may potentially be a hint at gen 4 remakes, seeing as some pokemon got further evolutions based around their prehistoric forms by use of Ancient Power. It's a long shot, but as far as I've been able to find, this is the first time this fact has been in its entry, so it may be a new piece of lore for future games to utilize?
With the Diglett bonus fact let’s not ignore the fact that you find 150 diglett and get 1 for yourself. Which makes 151, the same number of the original Gen 1 Pokémon
Fun video, acouple of these I had noticed, but most of this was new to me. I had no idea the Diglett you get for finding them all had perfect IVs. I boxed him without ever checking.
@@KylK1ng I see it as the 8 we challange are major and all the types we don't see do have gym but they're in the minor league so don't get challenged. I believe all the minor gyms or constantly trying to replace a major gym.
In my mind, the missing Charmander *is* Leon’s Charizard. We know Leon trained at the Dojo, but never furthered this training enough to receive a Kubfu. But since the Charmander is missing, we can assume Leon chose it as his first partner Pokémon, before leaving the Dojo and returning to mainland Galar. He began to train with his special, G-Maxable firey boi and the rest is history
I dont think they had the isle of armor in mind when they first created SWSH so they just needed to have a number before one that wasnt negative so.. 0 i guess?
It's just hard to remember because the 10 Minor Leaguers don't appear *anywhere* in the games. Not even a cameo from the two from the other version. Well, Gordie has a cameo on a card, but that's it.
There is a major league and a minor league for the gym leaders of Galar. Only the top 8 gym leaders are in the major league (the ones we beat throughout the game and presumably the only ones with Dynamax capability sans the Dark type gym), the other 10 gyms are minor league gyms, this is stated early on in the games (don't remember where, exactly, sorry) where a NPC asks if you knew there was a major league and a minor league of Gym Leaders. Which means there ARE poison and psychic type gyms in Galar, as are the remaining types, they just go unnoticed.
I only used a guide when I was down to 3 digletts to find. And you forgot to mention that Mustard's League Card mention him beating a Fairy-type Gym Leader to become Champion the first time. The ages match up for that Fairy type leader to be Opal! Meaning she was probably the 8th Gym Leader at some point.
Aren't there 18 gyms in Galar though(one for every type)? I thought they all duked it out every year, and the top 8 were the ones you face in the league

One other thing! I had a thought for a hair accessory that might work. A large bird feather you could pin in or slide into one side or a small fedora with feathers. C:
A nice lil easter egg i found is that Marnie will smile at you whenever your near her, but looking away. It's super hard to notice, because you have to have the camera in just the right position to notice it.
You missed the part about Mustard becoming the champion after defeating fairy type gym leader. This happened 50 years ago, and Opal is already gym leader for 70 years. Mustard fighting Opal in the final match. Opal is actually badass when she was young. This might actually related to why Opal is not on the isle of armor, maybe she doesn't want to meet Mustard for some reason. The champion before Mustard must really suck if the final match is not even challenger vs champion
Hey Toby. Urshifu doesn't Gigantamax with honey. The honey is added to the max soup to make Urshifu eat it. Likely that Honey will start selling/exporting max soup for the remakes as hinted in her trainer card. Just wanted to give you this thought. Hope you are doing well and on the mend. Take care of yourself.
The honey didn't give Urshifu the ability to Gigantmax at all, it only masked the taste of Max Mushroom in the soup. The bear simply hates the taste of mushrooms.
Fun fact, Urshifu single strike form is based on the Muay Thai kickboxing stance and maybe it is single strike form because of Muay thais focus on power
related? yes same creature? *NO* the key part that makes Kangaskhan & Cubone/Marowak not the same creature, is the ears Kangaskhan has ears Cubone & Marowak have horns
I wouldn't mind seeing a video discussing what the Gym Challenge numbers (or whatever they're called) the gym leader's from the first 6 regions would have (if they had something similar to the Galar Gym Challenge)
Just watching the I Choose You movie for the first time and noticed Charmander, Bulbasaur and Squirtle have the same colour coded beds in Mustards room that are the same beds in the Oaks lab
I kinda think that Mustard’s number being 0 is due to him being part of a time where trainers didn’t have numbers or Sponsors and this was a transition of time and how it’s now done.
I think that the old lady gym leader might have died or is too old to travel to the Isle. She seemed pretty keen on finding a successor, so maybe she was near the end of her life.
Personally, I believe Klara trained at the minor league gym in Galar. I don’t know if it’s been confirmed or not, but I thought there was a gym of each type in Galar. But just 8 can make it to the major league each”season”.
I liked the idea of Leon being a tool for the big bad Rose, and i think Gamefreak sorta wrote Leon this way. But probably decided not to when they gave him Charizard.

Dude cannot get enough of UA-cam haha
I love the new logo in the thumbnail.
Pokemon Quest is not a bad shout. It's always great to get a shiny (at least for me) and a simple yet fun boss battle setup.
I assumed Mustard's number just meant he's retired, no longer has/ needs a number because of it.
Hmm would that imply your character number would change to one as you replace leon?
@@Wurmze Maybe. Like pro athletes's jersey numbers going to someone else.
Nice video Toby
For a split second, I'd thought that the charm was just a reward and named after the individual player.
Lol
Yes play Pokemon quest its fun. I'm not going to spoil it,though.
That last one is a good one. Makes sence to me. Not sure why that one stood out.
I like your new Thumbnail style!
Aww thank you ^_^
Get this man more subs!!
Aw ty Delta
>.> I am going to try hunting down some of these Easter eggs and recording them.
Also! Yeah! I noted pokemon quest during my first playthrough! Old man Mustards a gamer! Its quiet fun :3 psuedo real time combat, minecraft graphics but...pokemon with a quest log. Simple but does make for good mindless fun.
One other thing!
I had a thought for a hair accessory that might work.
A large bird feather you could pin in or slide into one side or a small fedora with feathers. C:
Finally marks are getting some recognition!
I’m 99% sure that Klara trained in a Poison gym in Galar. The gyms do rotate between minor league and major league, after all.
this is a great vid keep it up and stay safe!
A nice lil easter egg i found is that Marnie will smile at you whenever your near her, but looking away. It's super hard to notice, because you have to have the camera in just the right position to notice it.
Isn’t their technically canonically 18 gyms in the galar region where 10 are minor gyms, so klara trained there?
Aha this is also possible
You missed the part about Mustard becoming the champion after defeating fairy type gym leader. This happened 50 years ago, and Opal is already gym leader for 70 years. Mustard fighting Opal in the final match. Opal is actually badass when she was young. This might actually related to why Opal is not on the isle of armor, maybe she doesn't want to meet Mustard for some reason. The champion before Mustard must really suck if the final match is not even challenger vs champion
At this point, Toby will turn into professor sycamore
Ahhh that makes sense and thank you so much ^_^
I love the way Toby says "swathe".
Actually there Is a Poison Type gym in galar there is a gym for all types
i love the idea that Leon was winning fixed matches
The honey didn't give Urshifu the ability to Gigantmax at all, it only masked the taste of Max Mushroom in the soup. The bear simply hates the taste of mushrooms.
surprised you didnt say anything about that fact that klara photoshopped her league card
Fun fact, Urshifu single strike form is based on the Muay Thai kickboxing stance and maybe it is single strike form because of Muay thais focus on power
Is he actually always drinking coffee or tea or whatever... in every video?
related? yes
same creature? *NO*
the key part that makes Kangaskhan & Cubone/Marowak not the same creature, is the ears
Kangaskhan has ears
Cubone & Marowak have horns
Liking the Snorlax shirt. Let him inspire you to rest up man.
Oo yes more content!
Who did that Ash voice at the end? That's really good! :03
I wouldn't mind seeing a video discussing what the Gym Challenge numbers (or whatever they're called) the gym leader's from the first 6 regions would have (if they had something similar to the Galar Gym Challenge)
Ahhh interesting I like that
Just watching the I Choose You movie for the first time and noticed Charmander, Bulbasaur and Squirtle have the same colour coded beds in Mustards room that are the same beds in the Oaks lab
Great shirt, Toby!
Wait... I just thought... if the Digletts are Breedjects... then he only keeps Breedjects and is against having the perfect one...
I kinda think that Mustard’s number being 0 is due to him being part of a time where trainers didn’t have numbers or Sponsors and this was a transition of time and how it’s now done.
If Klara is REALLY connected to Roxie, that could be a hint to Black & White remakes.
Alolan diglett confirms gen 7 remakes
I didn't use a guide but definitely thought about it
the Charmander is Leon's Charmander, now Charizard
I think that the old lady gym leader might have died or is too old to travel to the Isle. She seemed pretty keen on finding a successor, so maybe she was near the end of her life.
This is what happens when Toby makes an Easter egg video but really wants to make a theory video instead :P
6:49 Giving them the Max Soup takes AWAY their ability to G-Max.
I've always thought that every region had all the types of Gyms but only 8 are the Major gyms.
Personally, I believe Klara trained at the minor league gym in Galar. I don’t know if it’s been confirmed or not, but I thought there was a gym of each type in Galar. But just 8 can make it to the major league each”season”.
You are correct that there is 16 gyms.
I liked the idea of Leon being a tool for the big bad Rose, and i think Gamefreak sorta wrote Leon this way. But probably decided not to when they gave him Charizard.
5:38 now the galarian star tournament defys that theory
