- The Tomahawk land-attack cruise missile or (TLAM) is an American-made low-flying strategic guided missile that used by the United States Navy and Royal Navy launched from naval ships or submarines to strike targets on land. It flies at low altitudes to strike fixed targets, such as communication and air-defense sites, in high-risk environments where manned aircraft may be vulnerable to surface-to-air missiles. TLAM is a long-range, unmanned weapon with an accuracy of about 5 meters. The 5.6 meters long missile ranges up to approximately 2,400 km and can travel as fast as 885 km per hour. The missiles are approximately 21 feet long, weigh 1.5 tons, 51.8cm diameter, 2.67m wingspan and be launched from traditional torpedo tubes and vertical launch tubes on modern submarines. Once the Tomahawk is in the air, the turbojet engine kicks in, and its wings spread, allowing it to reach speeds of 500 miles per hour. It has a life span of 30 years. Well, the price of this latest missile is $1,537,645 per unit.

"How does the tomahawk find its target"
My brain: the missile knows where it is, because it knows where it isn't
How long is the Tomahawk missile? -> Approx. around 10 French baguettes.
The missile knows where it is at all times. It knows this because it knows where it isn't. By subtracting where it is from where it isn't, or where it isn't from where it is (whichever is greater), it obtains a difference, or deviation. The guidance subsystem uses deviations to generate corrective commands to drive the missile from a position where it is to a position where it isn't, and arriving at a position where it wasn't, it now is. Consequently, the position where it is, is now the position that it wasn't, and it follows that the position that it was, is now the position that it isn't.
In the event that the position that it is in is not the position that it wasn't, the system has acquired a variation, the variation being the difference between where the missile is, and where it wasn't. If variation is considered to be a significant factor, it too may be corrected by the GEA. However, the missile must also know where it was.

Stop this crap, please. I am fed up with reading on multiple channels these same BS posts.

me: _giggle_ the missile know where it is because it know where it isn't"
Against enemies that are not in possession of advanced defensive systems, perhaps
Exactly.. Let's see how it all performs with a peer power
@Drew Peacock the Russian Kalibir Cruise missiles are as capable, check.
@@ejimayang3687 Indeed
Sure it is we send 50 60 at a time they might hit 28 of them but not the other 22 😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
@rosevetilli you will be surprised by the capabilities of the upgraded tomahawk.😆😆😝😝
This used to be done with an analog computer.
You should use the same standard of measurement if possible when showing things like the missile at 1:10. Good video
100% that was for confusing the bad guy s in the east
yeah
I never really put together watching these missiles fire off that they may very well be flying for 2+ hours - but if it can go 2,500km with a speed of ~800km/h, that must be the case.
The missile knows where it is.
ah yes finally, the missile knows where it is part 2
Now the tomahawk can fly all the way across the ocean to those manmade islands🙂
So they are just gonna sit and watch, oh and the df 21 will definitely not wreak havoc on those carriers
You mean Hawaii and Guam?

Tomahawk, AKA Javelin LR (enhanced)
That’s some good shit.
The best cruise missile
I don't know how classified information...but if I design it had a key punch input series of target update monthly in peace time and daily in war time it include only waypoints where to turn and advance to next way point and waypoints are control by president office of crisis response or by naval combat intelligent office. So after shooting it will check key include it's home base then sort throught the two most high value target from that base then chose available waypoints until near target it open it's own infrared paint scan and homing on then if target not match it chose next best and continue until out or fuel or hit target most often it hit first second or third most value target before out if fuel for it could cruise up to 1000 km from base
👏👏👏👏
But i love zircon missile
It knows where it is because it knows where it isnt
why mix feet with meters
Lidar and mad are best
❤️❤️👍
Cruise missle
90% of them are only as good as the GPS that directs it, take out or block them with EW, they are blind and directionless. How useful is that?
Yvan Eht Nioj!
Number of these US Tomahawk Cruise missile launched on Ship against Syria Chemical weapon plant one unable reach its target it just contained it thw Russian authorties in Syria able to retrieved it and Shipped back to Moscow and make their own version of Tomahawk cruise missile named Kalibr Cruise missile
But Tomahawks exited long before computer vision is as good as it is today so how do don't understand how its Tercom is good enough
❤
Love love
Whats not to like about the BGM-109 ?
Tomahawk need to spend full accuracy trait card from castle clash, accuracy look so sad.
Sad?😂
How does it know if there is a mountain or another obstacle in front of it and evades it? This missle was made before computer vision was advanced enough, was it not?
In a mobile and more and more military force wearing civilian cover or religious organization it is not easy that why need upgrades weekly during war and monthly during peace time because ship crew or silo can't have in time Target listing
@2:16
All the greenies thought they got rid of them at greeham commen lol they just put them on a sub lol
Hello there

@@tnplay1001 "Did NASA engineers use the metric system when calculating how to reach and land on the Moon?"
Answer: "Nope. Distance was expressed in nautical miles, velocity was expressed in feet per second, and weight was expressed in pounds. Below is a table from one of the trajectory documents, as an example. And guess what, they got to the Moon just fine."
