The queen has landed. Wearied from her perilous flight she sheds her wings, burrows into the soft sand and begins to lay. The first children of the nomadic Formica Ereptor must grow quickly if they are to survive. Soon the ants will embark on a vast and treacherous journey through thick jungle and scorching desert. The pervasive soldiers aren't 'free'. If an egg is on a tile for over a minute, then it will hatch for free, but if it hatches before that minute, it still costs
also vigorous ant buffs are good and last for a long time

I really don't like how easy this ability makes the game.
The fire ant workers are also pretty broken they have the same initial sting as the soldiers do so they do a pretty great deal of damage
I love how when you reading the title you can feel the annoyance he has. Also I have no idea how beaver hasn't memorized that the ? mean wood lice or whatever, I just know them as rolly pollys. Love these videos too, so much fun watching them! ❤️
They are actually called isopods, wood lice are similar but different

I've missed empires of the undergrowth for so long. It's beautiful.
The buff from vigorous ants is honestly very nice. It seems to just about double their effectiveness.
Personally, the deciding factor for me is availability of food. If you have a lot of food available, vigorous is wonderful. If you don’t, pervasive is a lifesaver.
Vigorous is better on missions but persasive is a nice change in pace.
Well the thing is i think pervasive would be the safest pick for new levels but if you are going back on levels you have already beaten vigourous would Effective.
Based on your current formicarium build and playstyle, I'm glad to say you've chosen the correct fire ant type and the right upgrades for pervasive. Evasive will help keep them alive longer for the free hatch while with pervasive you'll deal more damage with last laugh than last stand (last stand deals only more damage than last laugh with the vigorous buff).

Beaver: Food is the main priority right now
Also beaver: Imma use most of my food so that I can only hatch like 1 soldier when they start dying
They got the pervasive ants so they don't need food to rehatch for a bit.
@@Superficial_Intelligence that only happens after the egg sits on the tile for a minute, before that the buff doesn’t trigger the problem is that beaver didn’t wait for the tiles to glow to show that pervasive activated

Great to see the channel back also spoiler alert and good tips.
The twins fight each other so use workers as bait. Also dragantula pattern can almost stun or defeat all of your ants if it’s in its path. Sure footed will help you a lot here.

beaver i have idea to sorrownd your enemy’s. So if you are attacking an enemy colony and there’s ants blocking the path when attacking them turn off attacking so they run past and then turn it back on so you sorrownd them and i’ve done this before and it seems to works good for me
I got bitten by a fire ant recently ( didn’t even know there were fire ants in England ) and probably because I was asleep I felt nothing however over the next few days a massive blister formed on my wrist ( terrible area because you don’t want to burst it but if you bend your wrist to far it will )

@@lylelylecrocodile2538 an ant crawled up to my had. Put its mandibles around a piece of skin, and closed its mandibles. That’s how an ant bit me.
In all seriousness I probably moved around in my sleep and with my body heat it probably aggravated them.

Tip for James : The questions marks inside the colony are there to show that it has grubs, it doesn't mean danger but it means live food. :D 😃
Beavers, i too chose the same ant for my formicarium, but choose the vigorous ants for the missions, they have the buff for 100 seconds after they hatch, which is huge and key to insane modes aswell. Also the yellow crosses that you see, go to them so you can pick up the aphids and bring them over, they will generate foodz for you.
( Also you only hatch the ants for free if they have been stuck as a larvae for 60 seconds, if they hatch sooner it costs food. )
Really wish you made more of it I enjoyed it form the very first one when you died to the most basic of enemies but now it when a long way also wish you make a narrative or your own story from your previous videos to one whole story

And if fire ants are your favourite species, congrats! Fire ants are invasive and can be found all around the world and is only native to South America. Fire ant scientific genus is solenopsis
Beaver it’s better to have the soldiers tiles near the queen so later if the enemy attacks the queen the soldiers will attack the enemy
about fire ant in this game: in trade off for support 2 ant per tile, lvl 3 fire ant are actually weaker than lvl 2.
There is just something so satisfying to see loads of small ants attack a big enemy

they're venomous. also I think since frogs can hit many ants at once, while spiders can only bite one at a time
Hey I know this is kind of unrelated but you mentioned you’d enjoy a sort of multiplayer version of EotU. I’m a part of a group which is working on a roblox game called Ant Life. It’s kind of like empires except every ant in the colony is a player. The game has 3 playable colonies (carpenter ants, yellow crazy ants, and fire ants). There’s AI that spawn for food or you could eat the enemy ants and brood. Players can also spawn as a spider which can attack each of the colonies. The most updated version currently is Ant Life (Beta Testing) (or V2 as we like to call it) but we are getting fairly close to releasing what we call V3 which will basically completely overhaul the gameplay. Aphids, drinking from rain drops, stinging, formic acid spray, and much more.

@@drewbarrymoresdealer quite the opposite. Antelligence ripped off ant life but I’m no longer associated with ant life. The creator really turned bad and silenced a lot of people and now is no longer working on the game.
I recommend putting food tiles near the entrance/exit, for maximum efficiency in the future

Okay, I did a small research. That wierd mantis wasp is called Mantidfly. Basically everything the mantis is, but slightly smaller and better at flying

The weird plant with the flap on top of it is called a “pitcher plant” and has a sweet substance on the leaf on the top of it.insects climb onto the leaf to eat the secretion and get stuck and can’t move .when it starts raining the raindrops hit the leaf and the insect falls into the “mouth” of the plant.thats how it eats

Its front attack legs are also too short to cause pain on to a human.These are usually called Mantisflies.This species in particular is the Wasp mimic.

Pervasive fire ants don’t always hatch for free, it only hatches for free when they are an egg or larva for a certain amount of time, time as a pupae doesn’t count, when an ant dies , it will hatch no matter the time to hatch free is there or not, you can see if an ant will hatch for free by looking if there are sparkles on the brood tile, on cold blood vigorous is better, but on a bridge too far pervasive are better.

When I was seven I was looking at a giant orb weaver spider and was actually stepping on a fire ant nest. They ran into my pants and bit all over my legs. I started crying and needed someone to hose me down to get them off and I had marks for days. Believe me it was one of the most painful feeling ever but still an interesting experience.

Level 3 fire ants aren't really that must stronger than level 2 but instead you get 2 level 2 from one tile also the free period is as long as the ants of that tile are still alive so first spawn is paid but second probably isnt
