I just got into 40k, and purchased the Leviathan set for my first bundle of minis. I'm glad to find that you've covered a large number of the models in the set! I look forward to putting the brush to the model once they arrive, by following your tutorials.
the leviathan set is such a great box to get. I've enjoyed painting everything in it so far. I still want to do a video for the sternguard yet :D and probably more tyranids as well ha
Autolike before watching❤ your leviathan series that always perfect You are one and only boxart tutor for 40k, rn Nobody does boxart tutorial We know how tricky it is even for pro painters You should be proud of it❤
thank yo so much, that means a lot. I've always strived to match the box art since I started many years ago. I am proud of ho much I've improved and its because of making these tutorials :)
Really enjoying building my leviathan box along with your vids - the sub assembly advice alone has been fantastic, now I'm looking forward to coming back to paint everything when I'm done :) keep up the great work!
Another great tutorial! Also it’s nice to see you do some different techniques then you did on the White Scars tutorial(yes I did find that one last night). Keep up the good work 👍🏼
You mentioned early on that Corax White "isn't very white", but thats actually why I prefer it. In addition to the reason you mentioned for highlighting, a pure white on a miniature looks very "toy" like. I was into scale modelling before coming back to Warhammer, and its very common to use Black-Grey and White-Grey instead of their pure counterparts. Reason being at scale, the idea is to trick the viewer's brain into thinking they're looking at a lifesize object faraway. It's just part of the subconscious way our brain works, that we associate very saturated colours and strong white/black as being close to us/"toy-like", while stuff like buildings, vehicles, clothing, etc. at a distance is always slightly washed out looking.
Are they white by default for any chapter? Recently learned that librarians Are supposed to have blue armour and I'm trying to apply that to my own chapter
@@TableTopReadyUA-cam thank you very much for the info 😁 Still figuring out how close to box art I wanna go with my own chapter. Keep up your great work, you've been one of the first UA-camrs I got into after getting my first miniatures and I based my first paint purchase completely off what you recommended for the Cadians
Step 1: Buy every paint sold by citadel :') But great video as always, and I shall be using this to paint my Apothecary, once I've remortgaged my house and I can afford all of the extra colours :D
It amazes me people can actually paint like this. I try and I get streaks everywhere, how tf do you keep your hands so steady and draw such neat lines 😭
just like everything we need to practice and in time we get better. if we spend time painting then our brush control and hand eye coordination improves. just keep going :) you can do it
For me, I watched painters I really respected and paid attention to EXACTLY how they held their brush at different times, ESPECIALLY when edge highlighting and making fine detailed brush strokes. I found many many great things for example choking up close to the ferrule and having my wrists almost touch, extending my middle finger etc. There's so much to learn just from looking at their hands. I also found the brush company that finally was able to give me a good tip for long periods of time which is Rafael 8404 series. I use size 2s 3s and even 4s to do fine things like edge highlights. Hope this helps!
I don't, the paint is pretty resilient on plastic. Varnish will effect the colours, tones and highlights as well, which we don't want after spending so much time on them.
Your painting is great as always. Some advice for your editing: more focus on talking with footage of the mini, and less cutting back to face time. It feels like you keep trying to force yourself to show your face and read off a script (it looks uncomfortable for you, especially with the fake smirk at the end of each cut, so why put yourself through it?). People watch tutorials to see the techniques being used on the mini's, so keep up with the great footage you produce with it. Dont feel you have to edit vids a certain way just because others do it. Create with your strengths in mind.
Love all your work! However, that smile that you do at the end of every sentence spoken to a camera is... so creepy. It makes you look like a sociopath. Or maybe it's just me! Nonetheless, your painting is top notch! I'm following your tutorial painting of Adepta Sororitas and the effects are amazing. Keep up the good work!
I like how you smile after every shot of you talking. It makes the videos very endearing
thank you ^^
I was going to say the exact same thing :)
White, the most challenging color (imo) masterfully done Michael.
Thank you :D glad you think so

Finally i was dying of curiosity!
hopefully you don't die anymore ha
I can see you've been doing the Leviathan box :)
I have, I think I'm pretty much done with it now :D

Apothecarys have white power armour in the lore, but honestly you can paint your miniatures how ever you want :)

Looks just like the boxart
Thank you, thats always my goal with these tutorials
Where do you get the clear bases you use?
just google clear acrylic warhammer bases. oads of places do them
Could you do a video of Ghazghkull thraka
never say never. it would be a big project. I don't have plans for him anytime soon though
my dream is a tabletop ready roboute guilliman video :O
I'm sure that will happen :D
Did you get him in Leviathan set? I looked for this model alone and I didn't found him.
Yes this is from the leviathan set. I recon this will become online only at some point. its on the same sprue as the sternguard
great video michael ... my name was on the suport page ...i am michael oakley lol thanks

Would be epic if you did a painting guide for a fallout 3 styled super mutant for fallout wasteland warfare
unfortunalty I do only do warhammer stuff for now. but all the techniques on painting paintings are still relivent :)
bien
Thank you :)
BABE, new TTR video dropped
:D
The biggest issue I ever had is painting white power armor. But, it's dose take some many practice.
practice makes perfect

"But does sticking out your tongue really help with highlighting?"
Yes. I can't explain the science of it. It just does.
It does!I can't expplain it either, its a +5 concentration buff
Why does this channel has 46k subs only?
UA-cam is broken 😛
BRO IT LOOKS LIKE THE BOX ART
