Quick Fix For Car Window That Won't Stay Up

- If you have a car window that won't stay up because it has fallen out of track or has a broken regulator then here's a tip that will help you keep your window from falling down.
I used this trick on my Jeep Cherokee and in less than a minute and for free I was able to keep my window that won't roll up from falling down every time I close my car door. So now I don't have to cover my window with plastic or line my car window with tape.

By the way, this tip works on a manual car window that won't roll up as well as power windows that keep sliding down. It's only a temporary fix but it will work until you are able to save up the money to buy a new window regulator or take the car to a mechanic and have the window fixed.

Dude I just went to wal mart and bought a $6 car phone holder and this worked! I was flipping out cause all my AC was going right out the back window and my window would NOT stay up

I have VW Bug convertible -just as you said-driving down the road-window starts to slowly come down. I took it to the dealer today, the regulator is $320 and it is 560 in labor for them to install. Christmas is 3 weeks away and I don't have the money to have that work done. THIS WORKED PERFECTLY - I used clear suction cups that I had for putting stuff up in my shower. I used three clear suction cups that were 2 in in diameter each. They worked perfectly!

you magnificent human! my window mechanism needs more fixing than originally expected by the mechanic and i can't get it repaired until next week. living in the PNW it's now rainy season and car theft is a problem in my city, i did this just now and so far it's stayed true and works much better and more discreet than shoving my screwdriver in the window 😭 this is brilliant

Great tip! I figured out how to keep the window up indefinitely as well as on the cheap by using a large pool noodle stuffed inside the door panel.

Thanks for the info. I ordered the suction cups (Amazon). Both front seat windows are off the tracks. I have tape all over the place. It's embarrassing. I can't get one of the windows straight - it's cock eyed. So there is a big space with rain and air coming in. It's a good thing the weather is getting better. 😌
I should get the suction cups in a couple of days. Then I'm going to have a hard time getting all the glue from the tape off.

Thank you so much for posting this video! Lifesaving! Regulator went and window quickly fell. Mechanic rigged my window up with pieces of cardboard. But that didnt last long cuz NJ Governor called State of Emergency for heavy rain/wind! So the cardboard got wet and the window fell again! I am alone so this happened about 1am no one in the car with me! I saw your video and just happened to have some suction cups not being used at home so I ran back and got them! Thank you so much! 🙏

Anyways all I had with suction cups was a bird feeder that attaches to a window. I cleaned it up and put it on. The window is staying put. Thank you again.

I need to be able to pull my 3 broken windows up or down relatively easily bc my AC is broken and I like to take my dog out in the morning w me. Thank you for this information.. My windows wouldn't go up , so I took my car to the shop, he said I needed a window switch on the driver's door. So he put the switch in and the windows still didn't work. He did some checking around and said that my wiring in my car was bad. He said I needed a whole new wiring harness in my car. He said the whole car has to be rewired. I have a 1998 Buick Regal that I paid $1,600 for 3 years ago. It's been a good until something shorted out my wiring. So my power windows are stuck down. So until I can get another car I'm going to try this suction cup thing that you used.. Thankfully I have a garage to park my car in, so when it rains my car doesn't get wet inside..

Hey there I’ve been actually looking for some thing like this because for now clear tape is the only thing keeping my window up, My car window regulator broke yesterday, and the part will be at least $350 without labor, so in case the tape fails eventually I would love to have this to work with

I've used suction cups too and they work great and are a good temporary fix just make sure and use good ones!!
