Today we try the iconic McDonald's Big Mac and put it in a battle with a Guga Mac! I try to recreate the amazing flavor of a Big Mac hamburger but using unique ingredients like amazing Wagyu A5 fat to elevate it into a Mac Masterpiece. Grilling burgers at home and trying new combinations is just fun and trust me, it's easy! Anyone can do it at home.

I used to work at McDonald's. The main thing I can say about the sauce that many get wrong is the amount of sugar. Mac sauce is tangy from the vinegar but also very sweet. You were spot on using paprika instead of ketchup though; there are no tomatoes in mac sauce

The McDonald's burger design has multiple aims. Like consistency, or being easier to bite for most people, looking clean, being super easy to make so that you can have consistent quality across multiple countries etc. Plus, the sauces... It has a taste that most people like.
Making a legit challenger to the Big Mac would be an interesting project.
All the considerations result in disappointed bugers.

So, I just made this one. I think I had too many substitutions for it to taste like a Big Mac, but it was AMAZING! No yellow mustard, I used brown. No white wine vinegar, I used red. Probably the biggest mistake, I only had Miracle Whip, no mayo. So, although it wasn't Mac sauce, it was out of this world. And, since I am a normal human being, I didn't have Waygu A5 fat laying around, so I used thick-cut uncured bacon. So, while my burger wasn't this one, I would have never known how to do it without this video! Thank you Guga!
