How i see it is he thinks of himself as a film maker like we see him editing the first creep movie and I think what we were watching was a film he made as he was waiting for this guy but we just saw the finished product and not the raw footage until the end when he un ties himself
I get what you're saying about the camera not lying but during the episode I never questioned it once. It just felt like we were getting an inside view on how he thinks. Overall a good episode in my opinion.
The character is editing the footage, it’s not a manifestation. You can tell at the end when he easily gets out of his binds in the tub. I thought it was brilliant! He’s editing footage before.
I feel like the subjectivity works because I think Mark Duplass’s character actually acted out both parts and edited the tape together to look like this.
I couldn't put my finger on what it was, but you're right with the whole subjectivity not working with found footage idea. With that said, I'm still gonna give a pass to the whole him killing people in a non-secucured environment thing. Horror (my favorite genre) is just one of those genres that you just kind of have to let things slide sometimes in order to have fun. If we really wanna dig into it, maybe he pulled the guy's body into the room immediately after the hit with the axe. It was "getting late" at that point, so witnesses at a seedy motel may not be around. They're all in their rooms getting high, lmao jk, but I digress, I still agree with almost everything you said 👌
