Try this: Imagine that the title is not Final Fantasy VI. That it is "Fantasia Finale." Now imagine that the composer is not Nuobu Uematsu, but Giacomo Puccini. Could you consider this scene and aria one of the most dramatic and beautiful you ever heard? This can rival "Nessun Dorma." Straight up. This is world-class music.

There should be a pause between the two voices for one. Even in the original midi, it added an emotional effect, that tiny pause because you knew Maria would answer, and then she does with this gorgeous melencholy/joy/grief filled cascade. Even in the midi this was powerful. I just can;t feel it with this performance, it is too rushed. Don;t get me wrong it is a beutiful rendition, but it is missing something in a few spots to keep it from being perfect.
They have the Japanese one again and I totally agree with you. This was great but it felt like they're just performing and not acting on this one compared to the Japanese one.
Watched it live 2 years ago in Royal Albert Hall. I'm a 240lbs big muscular hairy dude, cried like a baby several times, the feels got me bad.
I was lucky enough to see this performance live. Watching it back now still gives me chills
