I have a magicyoyo y03 hertz and that sleeps like crazy. I got like 6 minutes and 33 seconds (i did correct the the tilt by twisting the string) the crazy thing is that it costed me like 17 dollars

Hey, i received a Sage and a Oracle some weeks ago, but ever since the Sage played snaggy, it sleeps for a normal time, but when I pull it up it comes up a little bit, stops, and then comes back at full force, and sometimes after doing some tricks, it doesn't come back at all. I used the oracle to check if it has anything to do with my technique, it played great
The Oracle is designed to play more responsive than the Sage. This is because the Oracle is designed for looping tricks, and the Sage for string tricks. If you want the Sage to play as responsive as the Oracle you can either lube the bearing with thick yoyo lube, or you can wrap the string one or two additional times around the bearing when you put the string onto the bearing. You may also want to try changing the string on the Sage to see if that helps.

In almost all cases the problem is the bearing. The bearings in magic yoyos are notorious for being hit and miss. It sounds like you may have gotten a bad one. If you have a different bearing you can replace it. You can also try cleaning it to see if that helps:

Yoyo’s that sleep use a weighted/spring clutch mechanism right between the body and axle right? Your bllue yoyo didnt appear to have that but it would sleep?

Well i tried taking off the O-ring on my brain yoyo and ended up breaking it. I attempted to put it back on and it works but it can't sleep anymore. Basically I can have it sleep and not come back up or have it come back up and not sleep.
i have a responsive yoyo made of aluminum that i brought on amazon. i can see "magic yoyo", "locus" and "v6" written on it.
i lubricated it with some thick silicon lubricant because i don't have specific yoyo lub, and i had that on hand and it seemed pretty close. of course, i wiped off as much lub as i could to avoid any excess. before that, the sleep time was better, but the yoyo wasn't too responsive.
now, the responsiveness is much better, it goes up to 10s of lower threshold, but the upper threshold is very unconvincing... always less than 30s and after the 20s mark, it's too slow to rewind all the string, even if i help by moving my hand closer.
i'll try doing some aggressive pinwheels even if you said that for unresponsive yoyos. maybe that lube have very low performances at high speed.
i'm curious about what yoyo lub is exactly, because i can't believe it's some unique and specific kind of lub that's exclusively used for lubing yoyo's bearings.
Yoyo specific lube is more important for unresponsive yoyos than responsive. If it is making the yoyo play as responsive as you like, it should be fine. The reason thin yoyo specific lube is preferred is because no one that I have found makes any lube that is as thin as need be for the way unresponsive yoyos play.
If your responsive yoyo is sleeping for 30 seconds that is on the lower side of normal for a responsive yoyo.
it indeed plays unresponsive well, and after some vigorous pinwheels and other kind of practice, the sleep time is much better. i guess i had indeed a bit too much lub in the bearing.
from what i understand, lube for unresponsive play should be as thin as possible to allow for very low friction at high and low speed and avoid any kind of responsive behavior (while having much better sleep times).
for responsive play, the lube has to be thick to some extend so that when there's little to no tension in the string, the lube create friction that will make the outside of the bearing spin and start winding the string, until it touch the response pads. before lubing that yoyo, i could give very unreasonable amounts of slack without having it winding back when my throw was perfectly straight, because the string wouldn't touch the response pads.
from what i found about yoyo lube formulas, you could use most ptfe based lubes as long as they are meant for light weight parts moving at high speeds. then, the viscosity of the lube will play on it's performances at lower speeds and loads.
since the thicker lube is necessary for responsive yoyos, i guess the only way to increase sleep time is adding weight. i have a bad yoyo with plastic teeth instead of response pads, but a heavy body made of steel, and it get a comparable sleep time despite being thrown at an imperfect angle (did i mention i made the string from roasting string).
The highest my YoYo (fixed axle) got was 2 sec for lower thresholds
I had a YoYo ( I think was fixed axle) and it just wouldn't sleep for long. So I unscrewed it and screwed it back again, and it is like a Clutch YoYo now I think?
I have a question when the bearing balls will lost does it work
Does the yoyofactory spinstar count as a transaxle yoyo or does that style plastic bearing just under the category of responsive? I'm trying to set the yoyo up and I don't know how many loops I need to use when putting on new string. I also can't really tell how much to tighten the spinstar and in general it feels like a bad yoyo most of the times. Some time when I set it up the throw is smooth and appropriately responsive and other times I have to fiddle with it for an hour before giving up. I love my whip and edge/wedge and have a decent idea of what I'm doing but I can't make this yoyo click in my head, I'm missing something but I don't know what. Maybe it was botched from factory but a lot of people praise this yoyo highly so I'm guessing I just don't know something yet. This is an old vid so I'm just fishing around for random eyes. Anyway, good luck er'body.
The spinstar is a transaxle that is designed to work with a single loop. They can be a little hit or miss, I am told - so far all the one I have used work well. You should be able to tighten it as far as it will go for it to work properly. Just make sure you are using the thinnest string you have - ideally 100% polyester.
All that being said it is not designed to compete on the same level as the other yoyos you have. It is designed to be easy (that is, to throw it down and get it back up), not to be a top performer. Once you can do a basic throw, in most cases you are ready to swap up to another yoyo.
@@yotricks Damn dude, reply to a 4yr old post. That is heart warming. You and your media are already an incredible resource and I do greatly appreciate it, whether it is you or a team. Just learned the plastic whip w/ bind. Anyway, I've been trying to use the spinstar for looping and when I tighten it all the way the string gets bit by the starburst pattern or teeth w/e the name. Using Evan Nagao edge string that I read was probably rebranded Knot-Bad string. I tried Mowl fat string to try some longer string but neither work optimally. I'll pickup some thin string to test out. As is I can eventually get it to be a good sleeper that isn't as responsive as I like or a very responsive that doesn't always sleep on command. The fact that I've set it up and it's worked very well at least once or twice is kind of what makes me think I'm the one being inconsistent but to save frustration I'll prob move on to different yoyo either way. I think for now I'm going to pickup a Sochi Loop Spinner mostly b/c of aesthetics and eventually a Match set b/c they sound more ideal for doubling up and having 2 mostly identical throws will help with consistency there. Thanks again, bud. I don't think I would have gotten back into yoyo with the same passion if your videos and app weren't available as you've made it incredibly easy to trigger dopamine hits and it's really been a lot of fun.
Awesome. You definitely want to move on to a different yoyo for loops. The shape of the Spinstar is ok but not great for loops. With the right string setup you can definitely learn 1 or 2, but not much beyond that. 👍
2:52 when i try my yoyo doesnt spin long enough to pull i up (it spins 3 sec min and i never managed to make it spin longer than 10 sec and never had enough spin to pull it up after 4 sec), also the minimum and maximum spin time are pretty close, i just started, i have a spinstar and i dont know if im not doing it properly or theres a problem pls help😢

Hey, I recently ordered an sage starter pack and it said on the description that it gives Thin and thick lube and a unresponsive bearing but on UA-cam when people review it they only get thick lube and responsive bearing in it.
Pearson Gaming sage can be unresponsive if you get unresponsive bearing and lube

The old Sage Starter pack only had thick lube. We updated it so it now also has thin lube and an unresponsive bearing.

Noel Madrigal I mean if your ever short on strings then 1 time every 3 weeks should be fine but I used to practice every day for abt 6 hours so my stings would wear out easy

Hey YoTricks. I have a quick question. So last year in August I bought the Sage Pro Pack and I added the optional YYF Slim Pads Blue. I put those in my Shutter the other day and I'm wondering if those are ok for the Shutter. The reason I'm asking is because the pads aren't completely flush with the inner rim. Thanks! 👊🔥

I received my yoyo in December, and I just picked them back up today (not sure why I stopped yoyo-ing). My yoyos are very loud! I remember this happening when I received it, and it still happens now. Any ideas? I have the sage, and 2 oracles. I'm going to put some yoyo lube in, so hopefully that will help... And it probably needs it anyways. Thanks!
EDIT: So I applied lube to my barrings, and it definitely made it quieter, but not as quiet as I think it should be. I've used a few yoyos before this, and I never had this issue, so Im clueless as to how to fix it 🤔
Bearings being loud is not a "problem" in the sense that it is bad for the yoyo or hurts performance. If you put in enough lube, over time the bearings will become silent, but they also won't sleep as long.

It is just the sounds of steel touching steel within the bearing. In order for there to be no noise enough lube needs to be in the bearing that there is little to no direct contact. This also slows down the bearing, which keeps it from spinning as long.

All of the yoyos we use in our videos make noise, but the yoyo is far enough away from the microphone that the video does not pick up much of the sound.

Hello, please help. I have a new (maybe 3 days) Arrow Elite, and it is very responsive. It doesn't even sleep and it is reacting as looping yoyo. I try to lube the bearing, then i recieve another one, new, bearing, but yoyo is still very responsive. Can u help ?
If it doesn't sleep at all then most likely the string is caught between the yoyo and the bearing. Take the yoyo apart, remove the string, put the yoyo together, then put the string back on.

my string is constantly hitting one side of the yoyo, i am making sure that im throwing it straight but after about 10 seconds it just tilts onto its side. i am trying the string method but it doesnt last long enough for me to adjust it as its sleeping.

The string method is for unresponsive yoyos that can sleep over a minute. If you are using your Fizz and it starts to tilt around 10 seconds that just means you need to improve your throw. Still, 10 seconds is plenty of time to learn quite a few tricks!

I have a brand new, inexpensive beginner's (responsive) 1A yoyo, and the maximum sleep time (12-15 sec) is about the same as the minimum (10-12 sec). Would that just be a case of a brand new yoyo needing to be "broken in" or maybe in need of some lube? It is difficult to get more than two or three swings of Rock the Baby before it has slowed down so much it won't return, and that's with a good strong, straight throw.
What you are describing doesn't really make sense to me. Are you saying that if you drop the yoyo, palm down, it sleeps for 10-12 seconds, but if you throw it very hard and perfectly straight it only sleeps 3 seconds longer at most? That seems to defy the laws of physics. I cannot imagine what the problem might be.
John Cooper Ok. Hopefully the Sage will work better for you. The K1 has a reputation for being pretty awful.
If your goal is to quickly get to unresponsive play, you should be okay.

The yo-yo is a CLYW Akita. My other yo-yos don’t have this problem.
If the only issue is the sound, then that alone does not indicate any problem.
I tried using my yoyo to sleep. For the drop test it either starts turning no matter how strait I drop it or it lasts less than 3 seconds, for the other one it comes back instantly even if I don't throw it hard.

Make sure to check your string tension. Also, is it a fixed axel, brain, responsive, or unresponsive yo-yo?

I have a problem, I bought two orical yoyos for 2a tricks and 1 of them makes a loud grinding sound I thought it was normal all yoyo bearings make that sound but the other origal I bought is very quite and the other one I bought make a much louder sound almost like a grinding sound. I think something might be wrong. Don’t get the wrong idea the yoyos still work but one is much louder than the other should I be concerned?
Rexly Bearings vary like that. I would put a little line in the bearing, that should quiet it down.

The Velocity is a responsive yoyo... although you can set it up to play unresponsive as well.

If you take out the ring it will no longer return automatically. It may be responsive or a little unresponsive depending on the yoyo.

Hey! I've got a problem with my one star yoyo. It said it's an unresponsive yoyo so why does it come back when i pull on the string (i didn't even had a chance to play with it, it just comes right back up)
It has been so long since the One Star was made, most likely the bearing in it has started to deteriorate. Your best bet is to replace the bearing. You could also try cleaning it first.

My yomega yoyo doesn't work anymore when i took off the black rubber ring. And the black rubber ring broke when i removed it.

You can get an o-ring at any hardware store. If you lube the axle with thick yoyo lube, it will still come back up when you pull on it, even without the o-ring.
