And that is Marsha Brady (Maureen McCormick) in the commercial, Gabe! Their mispronunciation (ahem!) of 'caramel' ("kar-mul"'here in Michigan) did not make us want to say it their way. I was 3 when this came out and it was available for a couple of years because I do remember my Mom getting it for us. It was Super Sugar Crisp inside. I do remember that. Thanks for the spin down memory lane!
Oh wow, I didn’t even recognize Marcia Marcia Marcia! 🤣 Also, I grew up in Michigan until I was 8, but I say care-a-mel. But I say kar-mul apples. 🤷🏽♂️
1:54 Thanks so much for revealing the name of the company who did the commercial! I have heard of their name before but never knew they did this. I thought it was done by Disney’s in-house animation division. Oh, and also the first half of the commercial (the scene where Mickey and Donald paint their Puppets) was done by Phil Duncan, a personal friend of Ade Woolery, the founder of Playhouse. Duncan had previously animated Mickey and Donald in various shorts and in Mickey and the Beanstalk. I don’t know who did the second half. That same Cartoon Research article also shows that the commercial was conceived on August 25th 1966, with the agency being William Etsy Advertising. Oh yes, and that’s Maureen McCormick from the Brady Bunch as one of the girls.
I can almost guarantee you that virtually no one has heard of this cereal and those who lived back in 1966 had forgotten about it forever until finding this video. Just saying. Excellent vid, Gabe. You're a hero for this.
You should have mentioned Marcia Brady in that commercial...I am pretty sure you recognized her...like you said a rebrand of golden crisp or honey smacks a la Nabisco...and also noted they are using caramel in the description like they are now doing today...interesting to see how little nutritional value they put on the label back in those days...as always thanks for sharing...I look forward to your videos on Saturday.
I was born in 72, so this was just a little before my time. Otherwise, I'm sure I would have had the Pooh container. My mom had me everything of Winnie the Pooh when I was little. They do look cool and fun thanks for sharing this.
I'm old enough to remember the Winnie the Pooh boxed cereal, but not the Puppets containers. Also, love the UA-cam algorithm. After the video, an ad for Disney World came on.
I was about a minute or so into this video before I realized I actually had this cereal when it was out (I was two in 1966, so I probably had it towards the end of its existence). Very strange feeling, as the memory hadn’t been recalled since then. I’m pretty sure it was the Donald Duck one, but I didn’t know who Donald Duck was at the time.
*in a sudden rhythmic hypnotrance, head bopping back and forth* New super-tasting caramel cereal... New super-tasting caramel cereal... New super-tasting caramel cereal...
Pre-Internet I would see these at thrift stores all the time and had no idea they were cereal containers. In the 1990s, I remember ALPO cat food did a similar thing with plastic Garfield containers (the lid was at the top).
You forgot to mention the girl in the commercial was Marcia from the Brady Bunch. What was the name of that website where you can find scripts of old cartoons?
I knew Nabisco made cereal before they decided to stick with crackers and cookies from watching your videos, but I had no idea that this cereal existed until now. Also, when are you going to talk about the Wild Kratts cereal? One other thing: when are you going to have another giveaway?
The lid on the bottom is super weird, wonder why they wouldn't just put a hat on them that could be unscrewed. But if they did that, then we wouldn't have gotten the awesome ending to this vid!

You almost had me spitting out my honeycomb at the with that "up Mickey" joke at the end! Haha great video as always.
Same but I was eating Golden Grahams but honeycomb is good to

They should totally bring these back, imagine what popular characters they could turn into puppets!
YOOO NATHAN
"Hey Donald this man has his hand up my-"*outro plays*
That's so sus.
59 cents? That's outrageous! If cereal ever gets to be a dollar a box, I'll skip breakfast!

One of my favorite things from your channel is that i get to watch vintage cereal commercials that i havent seen my entire life.❤

I totally missed Marcia Brady! Was too busy looking at the cereal 🤣
Never heard of it, either! Interesting.
I can’t believe this one flew under my radar for so long!
Is that Maureen McCormick from The Brady Bunch on 1:38?
Yes, it is
LOOOOOOOL THE ENDING!!!!
I was born in 72, so this was just a little before my time. Otherwise, I'm sure I would have had the Pooh container. My mom had me everything of Winnie the Pooh when I was little. They do look cool and fun thanks for sharing this.
Thank you for covering this.
An interesting bit of cereal history!
I'm old enough to remember the Winnie the Pooh boxed cereal, but not the Puppets containers. Also, love the UA-cam algorithm. After the video, an ad for Disney World came on.
Haha! Of course. The algorithm knows all
Is that Marcia Brady?

I wonder if you can get those on eBay.

Wonder if that was that Marsha from the Brady Bunch in the commercial?
It's her.
Very unique.. thanks for sharing!
Nice video 👍🏻
My wife would unabashedly love these
Is there’s a way to make the cereal fresh since putting it in a plastic toy could make it stale?
You forgot to mention the girl in the commercial was Marcia from the Brady Bunch. What was the name of that website where you can find scripts of old cartoons?
Who would want to sleep with these things? 😂
Exactly who want sleep with puppets that is so weird
Super surreal that these existed also the cereal pouring out of the bottom of the container just looks wrong
It's almost illegal if anything

One other thing: when are you going to have another giveaway?
I don’t really have anything left to giveaway at the moment. Also, not sure I’ll ever do Wild kratts. It’s kinda a niche off brand cereal
I heard about those puppet cereal and the commercials
The lid on the bottom is super weird, wonder why they wouldn't just put a hat on them that could be unscrewed. But if they did that, then we wouldn't have gotten the awesome ending to this vid!
Lol! They probably didn’t want kids decapitating iconic figures. But yeah, seems like the top would’ve made more sense
Ya learn something new every day!
1:14 Popping Muppets
Wow this is Interesting I like them
Donald and Mickey would make good syrup bottles.
Why do you love captain crunch so much
Donald looks pretty creepy but it's about what you expect from things like these from the 60's
Okay that end though
Silly Request: Do a video of my Fanmade Cereals, Ren and Rocky Cereal and Cocoa Ren and Rocky!
They're corn cereals with Ren and Rocky marshmallows!
I thought you were gonna put honey smash or sugar Chris in the containers
1966 oldies time also marcia marcia marcia
Hey Gabe I have a challenge for you, can you eat a family size box of cereal in one sitting?
Can you make a video about your dream cereal? Like what would you make? 😬
I still don’t get why they made Kangaroo & Roo, but only painted Kanga.
Post Top 3 Cereal is another you might be interested in.
They kinda remind me of soakys
Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!
