    I planted one last year and it’s grown about 1.5 feet in height already. I got some blooms this spring and they are stunning. I used to live in a 2 story colonial home that had 2 of these in the front yard that were mature and they were so gorgeous! These and the Yoshino cherry trees are my favorite! ❤️🥰

    I have this tree. It grows real fast. I've had it since 2014 when I moved into my new home. I prune mine in Boston. The canopy was so wide it was casting on my roses and azaleas. But wow, this tree was not affected at all with the pruning. Still stunning show of flowers. I also like that it flowers later in Spring while my weeping cherry blossoms and Yoshino trees flower early in Spring. Endless Spring display.

    I have one as a lone specimen in the center of my front yard here in central Georgia. Absolute stunner when in full bloom. Cars drive by then slow down and people stare at it. I can read their lips as they say "What IS that??"

    I have had one for 10 years and it is the same same size about 8ft x 5 ft. Has had white fungus especially where branches fork, and spraying copper did not help much. Got rid of that with pressure washer last fall at a distance to not damage bark, sounds crazy but worked great. My wife put tall bearded iris at the base, which after watching your video will move Iris in the fall. I am in zone 5, can anyone offer any more suggestions. Does fungus stun growth of trees as had to prune some limbs and they had the most fungus.

    Great video, thank you! I had a Kwanzan cherry in front yard that had lichen and some sort of blight or fungal growth on it. As it grew older, ants got into it and it had to come down last year. Should I think twice about planting another one in its place, due to the fungal issues? Also, I had a soil test and found out it was very acidic, around 4.2. Could the low pH have set the stage for fungal issues? I've added the amount of lime recommended to increase the pH. Should I try planting another cherry, or would you recommend another sort of tree entirely? Thank you.

    I have one out front but I think it's slowly dying. I love the blooms so I don't want to cut it down just yet but I know the time is coming. The trunk has a big gash in it and we are always pruning out dead limbs. I'm sad to be losing it. Yours is so gorgeous!

    Thanks but I didnt get the answer I was looking for. This is my dads favorite tree. He loves them. He only has 1 and always wants more of them. They can be rather expensive tress. I was wanting to see if there was a way to get sprouts, seeds, root or limb cuttings from it to make another tree so my dad can have as many as he wants.

    Thanks Jim! Im pretty sure this is one my husband planted last year. It was starting to bloom last weekend when we got a hard freeze so I assumed that is why we didnt get a good show. Now it is leafing out. Do you think it would do ok with some annual flowers around it as it gets older so it wouldnt bother the tree roots as much?

    I have a Kwanzan Cherry Tree that in it's third year never leafed out in the spring but the roots were sending up shoots. What caused the main tree to die? I have planted this same tree four other times in different yards in Utah and never have had a problem. It's my favorite tree. I have let one of the shoots continue to grow. Will it be the same tree or are these trees grafted at the root?

    I have two of the Kwanzan Japanese Cherry trees. When we bought them we were told that the only time to trim thin was in the fall. They said if we trim them any other time the trees would bleed. Is this true and what time of the year should they be trimmed if needed? The limbs on our trees had grown so much that I couldn't mow the front yard without getting smacked in the face with them. The trees are probably 25 ft tall or taller and are over lapping. They are beautiful when they are in bloom. I just wish the blooms would stay on longer. We have never had any problems with them. If you could give me any pointers on the time to trim it would be greatly appreciated.

    • @JimPutnam
      @JimPutnam  6 років тому +1

      I could be wrong, but I don't think kwanzan cherries are bleeder trees. I think you can do minor pruning anytime and major pruning while it is dormant in the winter. I did a tree pruning video this past summer and pruned mine then.
