Word is that Mitch was jet lagged when they arrived in Singapore and had two Red Bulls right before the concert… guess they worked! Yes - Kevin was there but started off stage when he was putting away his cello from prior song.

While in Singapore, singing in a concert venue called the Star Vista, they sang a song called "Ah Ha!" Mitch had a bit more Red Bull than usually recommended and got carried away and the speakers weren't fully able to deal with Avi's bass. They sang this song at other venues but didn't have as much fun as this one.
Clearly looks like the venue’s speakers weren’t ready for PTX 😂
I've heard that Avi blew out speakers at enough small venues early in their career that the group started traveling with speakers that could handle him. I can't corroborate the statement but, given the little clubs and stuff they used to perform at, I can totally believe it.
Blowing out the sound system in what amounts to a stadium, though? That's pretty impressive.
@@anitaslack9193 Yeah, the big venue sound systems can usually deal with anything. He didn't blow them completely, but when he it that one note they warbled.
@@Blue-rl5dp Yeah, I've seen the video of him knocking out the entire sound system singing Hit The Road Jack. They didn't have to stop the concert for it at the Star Vista, but the bass was kinda blurry from that moment forward. It was definitely struggling. Not dead, but certainly wounded.

So glad you reacted to this. It is like most of their songs at their concerts - perfection. It was also good that you recognized Kevin's amazing beatboxing. He was offstage at the beginning, but came back on next to Scott just before Aha! started. The video taker was so focused on Mitch that you never get to see Kevin, but you sure can hear him.

The song name is simply Aha. It was recorded live at the Star Vista Theater in Singapore. Here's the story behind this performance: the previous song had featured Kevin on the cello, so he was backstage putting away the cello at the beginning of the performance. He returns to the stage (not seen on screen) just as Avi hits that first low note...which actually caused damage to the Star Vista's sound system! Mitch was suffering from jet lag, so during an earlier break in the show, he went backstage and drank two Red Bulls back-to-back. Right when Avi hit that note, Mitch's Red Bulls kicked in...and the rest is history. He proceeded to go completely INSANE on stage while Avi continued to JOYOUSLY shred the sound system in the background. And here you have the live performance that most Pentaholics consider to be the very best of Pentatonix's career! And it's made even more legendary because it is apparently only available on this fan-recorded video!! BTW, there is an official video for the studio version of Aha that is also interesting to watch (it has a VERY dark theme to it), but this live version is an absolute classic!

"Aka!" is the name of the song, written and originated by Imogen Heap. The location was Singapore, and the venue was The Star Vista. There are other live videos of this song, ones that don't have Avi blowing the speakers. You should see the official Aha video the song will make more sense, but you should see the other songs from this concert at the star vista in Singapore….Mitch was on fire that whole night.
The classical piece at the start was Avi's suggestion, to take up the time until Kevin could get back on stage. If you watch the official (studio) video of this song, the song might make a bit more sense. (But I had to look up the lyrics to make complete sense of it ... it's a scathing, sarcastic indictment of wealthy suburbanites who claim to be sacrificing for good causes like the ecology but are really just turning around and indulging themselves.)
