THANK YOU for clarifying what will happen to your hormones after a hysterectomy/oopherectomy!! Whenever I bring it up to (my doctor or in online chatrooms like Hyster Sisters), there's a heavy emphasis on "You're young, so you want to keep your insides intact in case you change your mind later." And I'm sO tired of people making decisions for me and not giving me the information as to _why_ they have that opinion. Thank you so much!!

Thank you! I've been suffering from anxiety over whether or not to get an oopherectomy because I don't take T and I don't want to get on hormones. This information helped a lot.

I am only 3 minutes in, and I am about to cry. They currently have me in physical therapy for pelvic floor pain. It often comes on sporadically (sometimes after exercise), but pretty consistently occurs immediately after orgasm. When she said “occurs after orgasm” I felt a wave of relief wash over me.

Hi there, Really happy to find this kind of direct info. I’m a 47 y.o. cisgender woman in perimenopause, learning about the effects of “ovary failure”. The literature as I understand it indicates that removal of both ovaries leads to an increased mortality rate of 28%. That’s huge, especially for young people. I’m trying to find out if trans men are being informed about ALL the known increased health risks that come with menopause or if there are elements to trans gender health care that counter the risks.
Do all the associated consequences of menopause apply to trans men who undergo oophorectomy?
    Thanks and all the best.

Are there longevity studies? Would it be beneficial to go on HRT (estrogen) getting hysterectomy / oophrectomy...? (Also would men live longer if we took estrogen HRT, at least after a certain age for cardioprotective reasons?)

In case of gender dysphoria long term studies show no significant long term benefit of hormone therapy and sex-reassignment surgeries. Short term self-evaluation is a "honey-moon" effect. The long term cross-sex hormone use shorten life expectancy by causing more and more medical problems as the time passes. Estrogen reduces libido significantly. Surgeries increase su*c*dal behavior and can dramatically drop the quality of life. (constant medical problems)

@@moma-b The reason all major medical groups support it is because there are 30 years of massive data showing the opposite- I’ve of course already read (and absolutely nuance matters) the small handful of cherry picked studies- most from overtly anti-trans groups- and one, on a clinic (now closed) that, while the concern was that their screening standards were insufficiently rigorous (and I fully AGREE)- still showed no reversals of transition or harms to its patients even so.
Trust me, if all one uses
For ‘logical rigor and attention to nuance’ when doing medical literature nuance, is confirmation bias, one dooms oneself to bad science- and spinning medicine on its head, (Every medical group in the world is wrong about evidence based medicine, because these six outliers!).
I don’t care that anyone disagrees with me, that’s fine, but in disagreement- we should act with at least a modicum of epistemic integrity.
We all know that in the millions of cisgender people as well as the tens of thousands of trans people- hrt has fairly well known and yet also manageable risks. That it carries risks (and ways to balance for them) is no reason to make HRT, or any risk-bearing medication or treatment illegal.
If you are implying that hrt should be banned for trans people BUT not cis people- well, obviously that’s just gender bias, not medical reasoning. If your argument is that the risks of hrt outweigh the benefits, tout-court, make THAT argument- and again, tell us why your cherry picked studies outweigh the bulk of evidence the AMA and FDAetc use in determining safety and efficacy.

@@palominox64 I don't imply anything. Imo, adults can do whatever they want with their life. Some drink alcohol, others smoke, millions of people are getting different kind of plastic surgeries and millions use different kinds of legal or illegal drugs. Many of these people also struggle with some kind of mental disorders. Exactly that's why I do not argue with anybody. I share the info I have found and read, hoping it may be useful for someone.
If you have studies to share, I gladly read those too. Please don't try to link them, youtube doesn't support that. Just write the title of the study and the authors (like I did) so I can find them. Thank you in advance.

The fact that this doctor didn't mention that females with high levels of testosterone are at a higher risk of PCOS, metabolic disease, insulin resistance, cancer (uterine) and heart disease is fucking irresponsible and dangerous. This is what happens when you mix politics with medicine, physicians feel pressured to be PC to a point where they literally start ignoring science. It absolutely *is* necessary to get a hysterectomy if you're taking testosterone. I can't believe this woman still has a license. Unbelievable!
Transmen are biologically female. So whatever applies to women's health, also applies to them. And no ob-gyn would advise a regular woman to take testosterone due to the dangers. But somehow, if she says she's trans, biology doesn't matter? This is lunacy.

Going on Testosterone does not cause "early menopause." The decrease in production of estrogen due to the introduction of testosterone is not equivalent to the gradual decrease in production of estrogen equated with menopause. There is also not a link between transitioning and a higher risk of cancer or bone loss. Heart attacks are more common for trans men who take testosterone because heart attacks are more common for anyone with testosterone in their bodies (same goes for high blood pressure and cholesterol).
