I transitioned in 2000. I'm 51 now and only got around to having my hysterectomy last year. I experience hot flushes and night sweats at first but they did improve over time. Anti- depressants have helped. My gender consultant said that increasing testosterone levels might help. Unfortunately this is not an option for me as it has had nasty side effects. Sorry you are not getting the care you need. You do have the right to register with another practice. I did and what a huge difference in the standard of care I get. It's one of the best things I did. If you are LGBT my doctors practice is the way to go. They have a positive and knowledgeable attitude towards trans people. I'm very lucky.
Thank you for this perspective! Upping my T isn't an option either as my blood is too thiccccc. Congrats on your hysto though, and I'm so glad the symptoms went away!
@@Ocean_GroveAre you using Sustanon? In that case it might be that the lower trough levels makes you not produce enough estrogen from your T, while the higher peaks are know to be cause high hematocrit. Have you tried switching to gel or Nebido?
Ahhhh shooty butt pains! I used to get those when I had periods, I totally forgot they existed! And thanks for answering my question. Also I've been deliberating over keeping an ovary because of hormone shortages since Brexit so that is really really great insight without even considering the menopause side of things. I'm getting my referral very soon so this video was perfectly timed and really helpful, thank you!
Ahaha I guess forgetting they existed is a good sign that they're not annoying you anymore! I haven't had any in a few years which is great! Yess the mess of the country has just made me feel so vulnerable when it comes to medical care! It's hard to feel secure enough to know it'll be there for us if we need it. Hope everything goes well with you my love!
It’s good to know I’m not the only trans masc with the pelvic pain. I don’t live in a very trans health informed place, and my gyno doesn’t think surgery will help, but the pain is constant, distracting, and getting worse even though estrogen cream and increasing the dosage does seem to help some. Nice to know having everything removed made it stop hurting so much.
you need a new gyno. if youre having chronic pelvic pain you should get checked out ASAP with a trans informed gyno, even if it means going out of your area. testosterone can have profound affects on the uterus, vagina, etc, and its essential to go to someone who understands that.
@@mariahc.crawley884 update on that, turns out it was an issue with my pelvic floor. All the muscles are so tight that they were causing pain. Pelvic floor PT and the pain has dramatically reduced and continuing to. There’s atrophy too, but the pain was muscular.
Thank you for sharing your story and for being so clear with the pros and cons. "What Fresh Hell is This" by Heather Corinna is a really amazing book that covers everything mono-pause in a gender neutral (and quite entertaining!) way. Heather covers a wide range of symptoms, remedies and issues, and as a trans individual, they have a much more approachable way of talking about meno-pause in transmen, women, and all! (I get the butt pains on my period! They're HORRIBLE, I'm often found collapsed on the bathroom floor by my partner!)
Ever since my hysto, my bladder has to be pretty full before I will even feel the urge to pee anymore! Olive TOTALLY made me smile hanging off the arm of the couch!! 😄❤
im ftm, 4 years on t. i got diagnosed after years of miserable pain with endo within 6 months of seeing a new doctor. he was WONDERFUL ohmygod. he did an initial lap to diagnose and clean out all the adhesions. he did urge me to do the exploratory first for insurance purposes. but it wasnt a fight over it, no questions asks about kids or husband, he was versed in trans care, and he actually really advised me to keep my ovaries since i didnt have pcos. they took my uterus cervix and tubes. i absolutely am so so happy with my decision. youre absolutely right about that weird grieving period, that should be talked about more. im glad theres doctors out there now a days that are honest and upfront but in a way that thats still gender affirming but also with your body’s best interests in mind. never met another trans masc with endo, i hope to someday.
This was insanely valuable! Im currently trying to figure out which surgery I want to get first, and how to make that happen. I think I have to figure out which will be more relieving for me, top surgery or a hysterectomy. A hysterectomy might give me a mental sigh of relief due to not having the risk of pregnancy, it costs less to get, and I dont have to continue taking birth control (which has historically messed with my head), but getting top surgery would make it so I wouldnt have to worry about my chest all the time, whether Im being misgendered because of it, and feeling more freedom in how I move in the world. I wish I didnt have to choose like this. Thank you, though. I feel far more informed!
Oh it's a hard decision to make! I really feel for you. I hope you're able to make the right choice for you, and hopefully you can get both if it feels right!
trans ftm here, i'm not on birthcontrol at all, i'd just use protection. so far thats been working for me, would going off birth control be an option? personally I'm gonna go with top surgery first, since that is more visible and has a greater potential for trouble than stuff most people dont get to see. wishing you best of luck tho!
Personally I got top surgery first, and i got an IUD and i wish i had gotten the IUD sooooo much sooner, I really hated the birth control pills they messed with my head too!! the IUD stopped my periods completely as soon as it went in, and is like 99% good at stopping pregnancy (better than the pill). kinda wish id never been on the pill tbh 😭 good luck with whatever you decide!!
Did you have your estrogen levels checked ever? And do you know for sure that your testosterone dose is high enough. Everyone needs estrogen, and cis men produce it out of the excess of testosterone they have. If you don't have ovaries anymore and your T is not high enough, or your body is just bad at making E from T I could be that you just do not have enough estrogen. I came back to your channel because a Dutch TERF is a tiktok with clips from this video for her agenda. I am sorry you have been let down by the medical system so much, happy to see you are back.
I woke up after my hysterectomy and opened youtube and this was the first video on my feed 😂

Yeah! I get them checked before my injections usually - all the hormones! Changing to gels soon so hopefully that helps!
