One of the things we can appreciate about Snow White is that while she may not be the brightest, she definitely is very emotionally stable.
Think about this: Snow White has been forced to work as a slave in her own home and still made the best of it. Not to mention that she instantly felt bad for startling the animals and for the fuss she made, even though she had all reason to. After finding out the only family she has wants her dead.
(And no matter how foolish it was to believe this BS story from the evil queen about the poison apple, I like to believe that Snow White learned her lesson from this.)

What is ironic is that the queen wants to be the most beautiful in the land, but willingly converts herself to such an ugly crone. Not sure if she had a portion to turn herself back to her original appearance. (Instead of killing Snow White, she could have given HER the drink to make her the ugly one.)

This was the first full-length animated movie and the entire film industry thought Disney was off his rocker. But this movie was a stunning success. It also lead MGM to make a similar fantasy film, which is why they put so much effort into the Wizard of Oz.
At first, MGM wanted to make the Wicked Witch of the West the same sort of evil beauty as the queen here, but slowly shifted to making her the opposite, an old crone.
Disney also tied up the woman who voiced Snow White. However, MGM was able to get her to do one line in the Wizard of Oz, where the tin woodsman is singing about his lack of a heart. She says "Romeo, where forth art thou" as a disembodied voice.

Someone probably already commented about that in the original tale, the queen tries to kill Snow-White two times before using the poison apple but that's not all.
First, she poisoned only one side of the apple : the good one is yellow and the poisonous is red, and propose to share it for not being suspicious.
Second, the tale doesn't finish like the movie. In the tale, the evil queen is invited to the wedding without knowing it's Snow-White and the prince's but later she recognizes Snow-White and she's condamned to dance with white-hot metal shoes until she dies.
If you think Snow-White appears as very naive it's because she's only 14 years old (she's the youngest Disney princess and the oldest at the same time because she was the first one).
And even if his name isn't mention in the movie, the prince's name is Florian according to Internet

In some versions of the story, which predate the Grimm Brothers tale, the Evil Queen is actually Snow White's biological mother, and in the Grimm Brothers version, she makes 2 additional attempts on Snow's life, by tightening the laces on her bodice so tight that she asphyxiates the girl (who is, in this tale, only seven years old!), and by poisoning a decorative comb. Snow really should learn not to trust random peddlers wandering through the forest far from any buyers, randomly giving her items (and offering to lace her bodice/comb out her hair, etc.).

Some interesting info- The Snow White story was probably based on an actual people. Snow White’s real name is Maria Sophia Margaretha Catharina von Erthal. She born June 15 1729 in Lohr Castle, in Lohr am Main, Bavaria. Her parents were Prince Philipp von Erthal and Baroness Eva von Bettendorf. That’s why her mom in the fairy tale is named Eva. Her mother died in 1738 and her father remarried hence the “Evil” stepmother. The Magic Mirror really exists and is currently in the Spessart Museum in Lohr am Main, Germany. The mirror “talked” via inscriptions on the upper right and left corners…..Cheers

You’re the only person who’s ever reacted to this movie that has given Snow White voice actress the credit that she deserves as far as singing and speaking or concerned her name is Adriana Caselotti and she was only 19 once she did this fun fact, though she lied about her ages and she lied about her age and said she was 16 but come to find out that doesn’t really matter cause she sounds like a child what they wanted was they wanted an operatic voice who could hit the high notes but also still speak and sing as if they were a child and that’s what Adriana gave them And also thank you for saying her voice is beautiful because it is in my personal opinion and I know people are going to disagree with me on this because everybody says Ariel has the best voice. I think Snow White has the best voice about the princesses.

I can't seem to enjoy the sweet scenes in between, because I can't think about anything else.

A number of Disney movies follow similar themes of a beautiful but fairly helpless princess (like one who ignores the one warning she is given), who has animal helpmates, and is rescued by "love's first kiss." After several decades of these, several parodies were done. Disney themselves did a spoof of their own type of movie in "Enchanted." And "Shrek" and "Shrek 2" really turned these motifs on their head.
It is interesting to note that most medieval fairy tales involved adults (even if Snow White was supposed to be only14, she behaves like an adult who falls in love). Back then, children didn't really have a childhood the way we think of it - they were often pressed into helping out with adult chores as soon as they could.
Alice in Wonderland, written in the mid-Victorian era, was a breakthrough, in that the main character was a girl. However, in her journey, she is mostly reacting to things thrown at her. The novel, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, written in 1900, made an additional change, in that Dorothy, a young girl of 8-10 (played by 16yo Judy Garland in the movie as a 14yo) led the action, and basically was in charge. Peter Pan, written about the same time, was also about the actions of kids, not adults.

Great reaction! When I first watched Snow White, I was amazed by HOW they visually told the story. My favorite moment was the poisoning scene, where we see Snow White bite the apple. Then it cuts to The Evil Queen / Old Hag watching Snow White (now off-camera) with gleeful anticipation at what's to come; followed by her melodramatic, thunder-accompanied cackles of triumph when Snow White's hand and the apple fall to the floor. It's very much something Alfred Hitchcock might have done. Brilliant blocking of the scene!

The Queen scared me so much that I covered my eyes and told my mom to tell me when it was over! Five minutes of pants-wetting terror, and mom moved my hands away. "It's okay, Brandi! Yeah I heard about it. I am very disappointed that they’re taking away certain elements of the original movie and its limited onscreen representations. Hope that Disney realizes they’re making a huge mistake about that and go back to square one to make it iconic to the original movie, otherwise it’ll be like the Mulan remake. Also, thanks. 😊

It’s alright. Don’t mind at all. We watched majority of princess movies such as beauty and the beast, the little mermaid, Aladdin, and princess and the frog. My favorite Disney princess movie would have to be the little mermaid! 😄 love the movie. The only princess movies we haven’t watched was Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty. Also some other Disney films we’ll definitely react to! We’ll definitely react to those soon!!! 😄

If Beauty and the Beast is your favorite, I recommend Robin McKinley Beauty. I think it's where Disney got the idea of her loving to read and the magic library.

I loved OUAT, and cried when Henry made his heroic sacrifice. I actually felt for Regina on a number of levels, empathizing with her pain and loss, even as she continually closed off her heart to protect herself from more pain, and sought only a vengeance that nearly cost her the life of the only person she truly still loved. And she did/does love her son, even as she gaslights him and manipulates him and those around him; you can see it in her nightmare that the horrifying thing to her isn't all of Storybrooke turning on her: it's the look in Henry's eyes as Emma prepares to kill his mother. Absolute hate. It's a chilling nightmare to have, and his coldhearted hatred towards her is possibly the most unsettling aspect. I know if I saw that look on my child's face, I wouldn't be able to face my end so resigned. I would plead with my child, not to spare my life, but to forgive my sins against them, and not harbor any pain or anger against me going forward. For their own sake, and (perhaps selfishly) so that my soul can rest in peace.

In the adaptations I've read, the mirror was enchanted to always tell the truth. It's possible that the enchanted looking glass is incapable of lying, though the "slave in the magic mirror" may truly feel for Snow White, and not want the Queen to hurt her. [He] may simply have no choice in the matter.

I agree. Also, I think they're making a huge mistake in changing the plot of this classic masterpiece as it will miss the very common elements of what made this 1st Disney movie so impactful and magnificent.
