Thanks for watching!
Electric Mint has hammer-ons & pull-offs. To trigger them in monophonic mode, simply play overlapping notes and make sure that the second note is played significantly softer (about 15 velocities if I remember correctly) than the first note. In polyphonic mode, overlapping notes with softer velocities works as well, however, you have to make sure that you end the previous notes in time to achieve a realistic-sounding transition. Recording a part, applying some sort of "delete overlaps" function on the midi data and manually extending the notes by a couple of ticks afterwards to create a smooth transition should do the trick. I hope this helps. (I'm one of the developers)
PS: Thanks for the detailed review!
PPS: That's a really cool riff you played there :) Could absolutely be the intro of a song. ua-cam.com/video/3m667W5Nyww/v-deo.html
The mapping panel explains how to trigger hammer-ons & pull-offs by playing subsequent notes softer and with overlaps. So far I haven't had any success with triggering those articulations. Is there an exact velocity value that the subsequent notes needs to be in order to trigger hammer-ons & pull-offs? Is there a way to trigger realistic sounding slides that's similar to hammer-ons & pull-offs?
I tried doing exactly what you suggested but that doesn't work
This is by far the best review I’ve seen of Mint. Clearly did your homework and use it very competently, great playing.
You sir are an incredible keyboardist, musician with great ears and an in-depth knowledge of the layout of the guitar transcending to the keys. Very inspiring! Any band/studio that gets to work with you is very fortunate. This is the best tutorial video I've seen on the Mint. You have helped me much! Bravissimo & mucho congrats ! Thanks so much for making this video!
After experimentation I discovered these things which might be helpful to others: 1) You can change the pattern or sound after it has been recorded; 2) You can punch in with no problem; 3) In my DAW (Studio One 6) there is a chord track but these patterns will not follow that; 4) If you limit your MIDI piano roll to a certain scale the pattern will not follow that either; 5) You don't have to hold an entire triad. Just hold the root to trigger a major chord and hold the root and the third to trigger a minor chord. Thanks for the great review!
You can also use the MIDI Drag feature and change the Chords or notes from that to your liking.
it's always a pleasure to watch your reviews. I learned something new today ;)
Nice review! Mint is an improvement over the other Session Guitarist libraries.
Beautiful playing and excellent guitar sound, must have.
The sound is incredible. NI have really knocked it out of the park with this one #electricmint
Man you’re playing is amazing, I came here because I wanted to see someone play the same instrument ms I have. Im a music producer and play keys not that well, I wish I had your skills because i love guitars but don’t know how to play the plugins with hitting only 4 notes
I could keep watching you play this thing for hours
I love the sound of the electric mint. I have always been a fan of a semi-hollowbody guitar so I would love to see a "electric hollowbody" come out at some point.
Thanks for the walk through. I like how the Native Instruments guitars complements the Ample Sound and Orange Tree Samples guitars. #electricmint
hey there. thx for another great review. may i suggest that you can get more legit hammers/pull offs set to mono rather than poly? that was a great tip about using the sustain pedal...perhaps mono combined w. the sustain pedal is the way to go for melodies? as i said earlier i have the les paul and the tele, and like many/most people dont dig into manuals enough...ha. this Strat one sounds great. I;m with you, I wish they had more keyswitches and we could pick and choose which ones to assign....pinch harmonics anyone?
I’m learning to play piano so I’ll be better at virtual instruments. However, it looks to me like playing a virtual guitar needs a different type of playing. Another thing to learn! Thanks for the excellent walkthrough.
One thing I would note is that it looks like you’re using a Komplete Kontrol keyboard. To get the lights to match the virtual imstruments, you have to open Kontakt inside of the Komplete Kontrol software. Thanks again!
H. Your student here…Mark.
The Million Dollar question: is there a user slot where you can program your own patterns?
And…is Amole Sound still the Gold Standard ?
Electric Mint... Lovely tones and a versetile VST that can inspire to make creative songwriting sessions.
I'm considering this or an ample sound strat. I have the impact soundworks strat but the clean sound has some feedback in it so it's not 100% clean. This one is very promising
Great video! Now I'm off to explore MIDI guitar programming on your website. Thanks for the help! #electricmint
Once again, Ruben is giving me a severe case of the "I WANTS"! Ruben - you sell a LOT of keyboard instruments!!!!!!!
awesome! i have the les paul and electric vintage and this one seems like the best. I just wish NI would upgrade the existing ones to this level as they all seem to use the same engine. #electricmint
Sounds are amazing, however I noticed you can’t microtone keys.
First Notes played in this video are SIMPLY HEAVENLY. I'll get this plug-in as soon as I can.... Thanks for inspiring... #electricmint
Would've been so cool to have caught this live. #electricmint
great plugin. shame the other session guitar/bass instruments don't have the drag and drop MIDI patterns. thanks for the videos.
Amazing Instrument and tutorial. Still debating between Evolution strawberry or this.. But I leaning towards this. #electricmint
Same for me. Torn between Ample option too. Did you make a choice? Happy?
@@musiccreation1198 I went with electric mint due to Kontakt 14 deal.
I am so way behind for this but this is awesome. But my concern is, can this be play with 25 keys midi controller. Thanks
Idk if I should buy this library or just wait for a sale and buy Komplete
Wow. $99 only. I am going to get it. Thx for the reviews. #electricmint
Thanks for the review, this strat sounds amazing, NI definitely captured the vibe of this guitar #electricmint
This definetely in my wishlist. Thanks for beautiful playing #electricmint
What preset and pick up would you suggest to make a Lofi Sounding guitar or an R&B H.E.R type thanks 🙏🏾.
You are amazing ! Great video ! What library of drums and bass did you use?
I think the NI guitars just get better and better. Appreciate the walk through Ruben. #electricmint
They do, indeed. Good luck!
I was on the fence about this one but your review helps me lean towards getting it. #electricmint
Great video ... thank you very much!!!
sounds really good and you make it look so easy! I have to step my game up haha #electricmint
Thanks for the review, Lovely guitar, im agree, the aspect of the plugin inspires you #electricmint
I thought the lights on the controller would match the screen? hmm...
Great video. How would you compare this instrument to Shredge 3 Stratus? What would be better interns of sound and ease if use?
Thanks
That was a Perfect tutorial / review 👍😁#electricmint
That's sounds so cool! #ElectricMint
Great product and beautiful review! #electricmint
Beautiful reviews
hello, do you know if there is a plugin that does the same thing with the piano? thanks
Yeah, I care a lot about a plugin's look and interface as well. It's kind of the digital equivalent of playing a really nice instrument. #electricmint
Top Notch Reviews ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🏴 Glasgow
Great walk through and playing #electricmint
It really sounds great! I would like to know if there is any way to automate the pitch bend wheel, so I can save that automation as a pattern. #electricmint
Yes. That’s in your daw’s midi editor, though. Pitch bend should be its own parameter vs other parameters which are controlled by CC#.
How does this compare to Ample Guitar SC or Electric Burst?
Electric Sunburst is just different guitar which is LP. It's not as bright as Strat (Electric Mint), pretty meaty for rock, metal or blues solos. Speaking of Ample Sound SC I think this one is really comparable to Electric Mint, maybe even better in terms of flexability. But the tone of NI guitrars is just right on spot. I use both, but if I want to make a guitar piece just like how I play it in real life I use Ampel Sound just beacause it can do almost everything from picking a string and position to vast array of articulatons. There's no finger playing thogh.
Mint ...vs Ample? vs Orange Tree?
Slide key switch is what made it actually sound real and not like a piano
subed, thank you. Very versatile
#electricmint 🎸🎸
#electrictmint as usual, a great walkthrough..!
can you slide with patterns swell or is it just for melody?
Can you make your own patterns?
Thank you....,,,
Great sounding instrument. #electricmint
Thank you for this demo. Hug from Geneva (Switzerland) #electricmint
Good luck to eveyone. #electricmint

Thank you Ruben #electricmint
Thank you for the give away #elecricmint #hifimidi
Is this a scam?
If you’re replying to the fake account that said you won, I’ve deleted it. I announced the winner on Friday in a video.
You are awsome
#Electricmint
Thanks for the review. #electricmint
I like the phrase hifimidi
Great Video. Hey I'm a drummer. Which DAW are you using to record inside of the Native Instruments?
Sounds really clean! #electricmint
What is going on with the Guitar course for programing no one ever replys in the chat area and all the info on the site is outdated still on sale for last year. Is this still working or are the videos all free now or what thanks.
What chat area are you talking about? The forum? I am working on it now.
Great review! #electricmint
Great video as usual! #electricmint
Very nice! #electricmint

Can't wait to update my komplete ultimate so i can get this one #electricmint
Wonderful review as always #electricmint
Hi can you help me, I'm not a guitar player at all but I am trying to recreate guitar for Caribbean music. Can you listen to Bottle of Rum by Machel Montano and help me understand what the guitar is doing?
#electricmint Sounds terrific!!
Looks interesting... #ElectricMint
This video's gonna be dangerous, I just know it. It’s sounded so good in all the demos I’ve heard, but I'm pretty sure by the end of this video it’ll be impossible to avoid. Here goes nothing ;) #electricmint
Great video! Would love to know what you think of ‘picked nylon' and the session bass.
Cheers,
I’ve been thinking of reviewing it. It is really incredible.
@@hifimidi Not sure which you are referring to (Nylon or Bass). Would be interested in either/both. After having previously watched your bass comparison video (Ample/Spectrasonics/NI), I'd be curious to see where 'Prime Bass' sits.
But the nylon is definitely more on my mind ;)
@@el-bov8034 My bad. I was talking about Nylon. I don't own Prime Bass. I'll ask for it.
@@hifimidi From the demos, 'prime' sounds uber-real. Perhaps even too real, as I've heard people complain about a very buzzy'E' string. It's very raw, either way.
Definitely interested in 'Picked Nylon'. But I'll get it when I upgrade to K14UCE, in the Summer. If I can't hold on that long...well ;)
As for 'Electric Mint'? I'm having doubts. It absolutely sounds great. But I'm thinking to possibly upgrade my 'RealStrat' to version 6. It doesn't offer a huge benefit over version 5, for anyone with amp software. But I'm still on version 4, which I can't stand ;) The 'Elite' strat in number 5 is such an improvement.
Weir that I still get a hankering for those products. They're sampled so simply and so bare. However, the amount of articulations and implementation really sells the guitars.
I wonder, do you still turn to them?
