    The folks at Saxon + Young NYC's East Village have started taken cues from the kitchen to create an array of savory cocktail recipes. This week Andy digs into the secrets behind one of their garden vegetable cocktails, the Bowery Fix. This crazy recipe is a mixture of tequila, chartreuse, and mezcal brought together with freshly juiced yellow bell pepper, lemon juice, simple syrup, and a spicy chili tincture of infused vodka. This isn't your regular fruity mixture or stiff drink, but a complex combination of flavors worthy of the adventure to make it.
    Give this a try at your next party and let us know what you think! Is this a delicious mixture or a tragic fail? Would you give this a shot if you were out at the bars?
    Let us know what you think in the comments!
    In Behind the Drink, we'll make sure you are properly educated before you hit the town and even if you're not really into the bar scene, our drinks expert host and professional bartenders will whip you up some recipes and tricks for kicking back with some fancy cocktails at home. Preferably while in a tux watching classic Bond movies and/or reruns of Mad Men.
    Watch Behind the Drink every Friday on Tasted!

    think of this, you did a miracle berry episode of why would you eat that. A "its a miracle" spirit cocktail. freshly squeezed Lemon Lime with some cinturon and silver tequila topping it off with some muddled jalapenos and of course shaken. Have them taste the sour before they have the berry and then after they take a sip, tell them to eat the berry and see the difference.

    The Flatliner is more focused on the hot sauce, this one's more focused on the veggies.

    Sounds delicious, but the proportions aren't mentioned in the video nor are they noted in the description. Therefore, this video is a missed opportunity.

    you know taste receptors on the tongue are more or less distributed evenly? the theory that the tip tastes sweet and stuff was disproof years ago.

    Science-wise, they are fruits but when it comes to food/cooking, fruits (like peppers, tomatoes, eggplants, etc) are classified as vegetables for the reason that they are most oftentimes used in savory dishes and not in desserts or sweets.

    I laughed to myself when he talked about the taste hitting different parts of your tongue. That separation of taste buds for different tastes is a myth.

    The pouring cost for that flakey drink must be at over 45%. You have to sell it at $38.75 a glass,just to come out even. Yeah I like the behind the drink music too.

    do these bartenders use measure cups on every single drink? is it just cause how expensive the alcohols they use are?

    • @fiercefreewhole
      @fiercefreewhole 7 років тому

      they do it for precision... so that the drink is the same every time.

    Bartenders are getting sophisticated with their drinks, kinda ridiculous. Looks cool but no thanks, I'll stick with Rum & Coke.
