I am extremely afraid of flying, these videos have been a great help in understanding what goes on during take off and landings. Thanks for these videos Sam.
I'm totally with you on that. I was in a 737 years ago preparing for takeoff and while the flight attendants where closing the doors, I panicked, got out of my seat and told them I had to get off. They opened the door and let me out. I have since flown though.
Man this was so cool to watch. I haven't seen a B747-SP in the flesh for a very long time. That was such an awesome take off. Those pilots make it look so easy. Thank you for posting it.
+Teetsi Yeah ^___^ Despite all sanctions, Iran has stood on its own feet and has achieved amazing goals. I'm proud to say that we're also a part of an elite group of countries which successfully send satellites into orbit. By the way if you haven't heard, Iran has ordered new Airbuses recently.
Iran has the capability to repair these aircrafts you know? They have one of the best engineers in the world. Their schools are all about mechanical engineering
+mekydro It's the world renown pilots and maintenance crew that enable these ancient birds to fly, despite murderers who kill civilians in the name of lies called sanctions
such a wonderful aircraft 🥰 I grew up in the 90s where you had all sorts of aircraft to see and the best part for me was I lived directly under a flight path 20 minute drive from a major airport. These older 747s with these PWs would scream!
Sam, this is an excellent video - thank you so much for posting! The sound of those engines is just pure music. My first international flight ever in 1978 was on SAA - a 747 SP SYD-PER-MRU-JNB.
The 747 Special Performance (SP) is the Chevrolet Corvette of the individual 747 family. It was developed for JAL for multiple takeoffs and landings and shorter flights but with lots of passengers. It is shorter, structurally reinforced and goes like a scalded cat!!!
+BobEckert56 the 747SP was designed to meet a 1973 joint request from Pan American World Airways and Iran Air, who were looking for a high-capacity airliner with sufficient range to cover Pan Am's New York-Middle Eastern routes and Iran Air's planned Tehran-New York route
@@BrokebackBobyour father’s buddy was wrong. The SP was not developed for JAL. Why the heck do you think it was special performance? It was for the long range, not short hops.
Capitan Soroushian , Capitan Abdoulahi , Capitan Mehrabi and so many others who made great jobs and services to the nation , thank you all . Keep fly the flag . God bless you all Iran Air crew members .
+Zerksin yeah, I'm glad the US removed the restrictions against Iran. That was the airline's problem, couldn't order new planes. Even though I have no connections with Iran, I'd love to see this airline grow. So I'm glad about the recent order. Especially 12 Airbus A380s!
+Marcoselgamer Xd we couldnt because boeing and airbus wouldnt let us buy new planes or even give us spareparts (sanctions) but now its changing (sanctions are falling) we ordered new Airbus planes.
that vid is cool as shit. glad the pilots go pro-ed it. I'm just wondering if the Iranian government has thrown these pilots in jail or hunged them for doing this. I hope the pilots are ok. I'm also digging the classic Iranian mustache on the pilot :)
Another great video by Sam Chui Thank you. IranAir is the first airliner which ordered the 747-SP in it's history.
IranAir 5 stars
ehsan83 and Pan Am

Too bad you're not as afraid of being obese.

I flew air China 747SP Stockholm-Beijing back in 1994..my only flight on this long haul bird..
The classic Prat and Whitney engines, love how the engines howl to life when the thrust is set for take off. Absolutely pleasing to the ears
Dear Capt. Mehrabi
a great man and one of the greatest chief pilot I've ever known
thats good to know about a good captain !
They are doing magic, right? After 37 years of sanctions, still keeping these birds alive.
+Teetsi unfortunately don´t have a choice, its an unfair world
+Teetsi Yeah ^___^ Despite all sanctions, Iran has stood on its own feet and has achieved amazing goals. I'm proud to say that we're also a part of an elite group of countries which successfully send satellites into orbit.

Boeing still supports this model because the 747 family is HUGE and they have sold more of them (jumbos) than ANYONE.
the magic sleeps within the hand of our aircraft maintenance engineers ! ... well .. i love this bird too ...
Capt Mehrabi , One of the best Persian pilot , Great job Sir . All the best.

Awesome old bird. Never flown in an 'SP', great to see it still flying

Sam, this is an excellent video - thank you so much for posting! The sound of those engines is just pure music. My first international flight ever in 1978 was on SAA - a 747 SP SYD-PER-MRU-JNB.
Love the SP. I've flown on NASA's modified SP 24 times now.
Did you know that Iran has one of the best pilots in the world.
Amazing with headphones :)
This SP is a real rare treat these days. Another rare treat because of modern planes is the role of the flight engineer!
Great office to be in :)
+TheSheiban Sure can't beat the view!!
Love the cockpit sound ! Deafening :)

Great Video, interesting to see how much work there is on t/o, thanks for showing.

***** Well, I'll pass that along to my father's buddy at Boeing, he'll be a bit surprised to hear it since he worked on the project. Thanks!
+BobEckert56 Thanks to you. my reference was Wikipedia. by the way the IranAir was the first customer or the 747SP Combi as well
@@BrokebackBobyour father’s buddy was wrong. The SP was not developed for JAL. Why the heck do you think it was special performance? It was for the long range, not short hops.
The 747 SR was developed for Jal
Those JT9Ds sound so good.
Capitan Soroushian , Capitan Abdoulahi , Capitan Mehrabi and so many others who made great jobs and services to the nation , thank you all .
Keep fly the flag . God bless you all Iran Air crew members .
Love those engines they remind me of the old C5 engines
yes brother your right it's the last days of the SP. but the future aircraft for IRAN AIR IS THE 777.
ahhhh, what a sound...
It's magnificent!
Yes. Bcoz it sounds like C5 Galaxy. The sound in this is exactly like Gags-5503's Tf-39 C5 Galaxy video
Gotta love that noise!! 😍👌🏻
Good job! Do it more and more!
Well done!👍

Made in America!
OLD AIRCRAFT
Are they retiring this old old old bird any time soon?
+SuperChris153 We've ordered new Airbuses recently, so i guess so. ^.^
Yes, Iran bought 140 brand new planes from Airbus a couple weeks ago. And they're going to buy more from Boeing
+Zerksin yeah, I'm glad the US removed the restrictions against Iran. That was the airline's problem, couldn't order new planes. Even though I have no connections with Iran, I'd love to see this airline grow. So I'm glad about the recent order. Especially 12 Airbus A380s!
+SuperChris153 They don't have the choice.
I knw many iranians come to India for world class medical treatments.
