I have been considering this lens as well as the F2.8 fixed aperture. It goes to show that there is more photography than bokeh. With great ideas and good composition, you can create superb memories and photographs. 🙂
Very intelligent comment 👍 Bokeh does have its place in photography but for me personally, a very small place 😊 This lens is not 'pixel peep' perfect, but the imperfections paired with the colour it renders make it a keeper.
I like the shot at 24 seconds, you should print that one, also there is a nice one of the tree at 1:40. I see you like to look up, which given the condition of the world today is a good idea. Nice images thanks for your efforts in sharing and I like the way you preserved the framing from the video into the still shot. Thoughtful preparation there. I paid a fortune for that 5D when it came out, except for regluing the mirror after a dozen years, it has operated perfectly for me. Four tiny drops of super glue, dry overnight in the air, all set. I keep mine since it is effectively a form of "film" that will never be made again, a lot of old sensors have unrepeatable natures. The old Canon G10 does some amazing landscapes, if used with care. Photographs truly have a moment of time and are gone. That's the thing about photography, it does indeed record an instant that is gone forever. In that sense you touch the transient moment in the eternal flow of things, it's really a sacred thing if you think about it. You record the ONE time. Best wishes, keep up the good work. I think they have a 20-35 L version out there somewhere?
Thank you again for your comments and feedback always very much appreciated! 🙏 I took your advice and printed the first picture you mentioned, turned out better than I expected, thank you. Yes looking up is a must when I’m out, not only for unusual photo opportunities, but a great help for my mental health 😊 The 5D mirror issue is something I haven't had an issue with…yet, my shutter though finally gave out last year, had it replaced by a local repair shop for around $30. Should be good for another 17 years 😁 I agree with you about the 5D and some other cameras having that ‘Film’ look. I still shoot film from time to time and found the 5D not only closely matches the look of film, but in the way the camera functions, is very much the same too, no distracting multi-menu options, well no choice really because with the 5D there aren’t any 😎 I enjoyed reading your thoughts on photography, I too feel we capture present moments that are then rapidly lost to time. The greatest photography are the moments that deeply touch us, we truly only get one shot. I looked into the 20-35 L, but it didn’t feel quite right with me, thank you for the recommendation though. 👍 Take care!
Thank you for your comment 😊 I'm sure technically this lens in not 100% perfect. I edit in Lightroom Classic and found there is no specific profile for this lens, so any adjustments, which are very minimal, I manually adjust myself. I have to say I have tried many zooms and sold them all, but this one I'm never selling 😎 Welcome to a very unique 5D Classic club, enjoy your 'new' camera 👍

Does this lens require much correction? And do enjoy these videos. Just bought the 5d classic myself
