Man I just love the CS3e...so punchy. The DPA sounds killer as well.

MKH 50 sounding strangely thin to me. Good work on this video, cheers.

This is a great series! Well done! Could you do a review for each individual mic as well? Apart from the 416, there are almost no good review videos for these out there. Cheers from Budapest!

You are a rockstar. I'm surprised how well the 416 did indoors... I was expecting the MKH 50 to blow it out of the water. Did you maybe have the MKH50's Hi-Pass engaged, because I was surprised at it's self-noise being higher than the 416?

The 8060 sounds to me like an EQed version of the 416 also with a tiny tiny bit less floor noise. I wonder if they had to EQ it because it’s a more sensitive mic than the 416.
I think I am going to buy a 416 because it sounds to me like a more natural sound closer to what the human ear hears. I can always EQ it myself if need be in post (you can always EQ but you cannot de-EQ sound). Also, the 416 has the name that many customers ask for or even hire you for.
    Great video matey!! 👍🏻👍🏻

    great job
cmc641 cs3e and mkh 50 take the cake for me, though the wasn't expecting as much hiss as there was on the 50

Thanks for the series, really amazing mics you test, personally i like how the 416 sounds, even over the 8060.

The CS1 is noisy, but it also seems to have more resolution of detail than most of them. It also sounds balanced and not artificially boosted anywhere. I wonder if that noise is the cost of the high resolution.

Interesting to see this, as I had the exact same observation before scroll down, the CS1 really stood out as the nicest sounding.

Something strange going on with the MKH50 in this vid. It's got some really high pitch noise to it. Did you notice this as well?

There seems to be something wrong with the MKH 50 used. In the other videos too, you can hear a strange hiss coming from it. I have a MKH 50 and a MKH 8060. The MKH 50 is quieter than the 8060, and I have to crank up my 633 to hear any noise at all.

Yeah I agree, I own the MKH 50 and it's definitely one of the quieter mics I've ever used. Definitely doesn't have that high end hiss shown in these examples.

Well the mkh50 wins that one for me, but the others are all fine to good.

What are your thoughts about self noise? I've tested 4017B, 4018C and 416 and was really surprised. What do you think about DPA 4017B compared to CMIT5u, in this test I feel they are very close. Tell us what your choice was and why.
