Name dropper here LOL....I lived across the street from Donnie for 20 yrs. Best guy ever, so very appreciative of their fans, down to Earth. Incredibly talented family. Funny story, he told me he's come up with ideas from songs looking out his window and I said, "Well, I'll try not to be mad if you write one titled 'Big Ass Woman Across the Street'." He got a laugh out of that one, then I looked at him and said, "naw, I wouldn't be mad". :) He's given me all kinds of memorabilia and I've met the guys in the band...and of course his little brother, Johnny. I miss seeing him and even hearing him singing a tune while on his riding mower. Awesome guy and his wife is a very special lovely person as well. I've been a fan of .38 since elementary school and found myself being his neighbor. I'm a lucky girl.
.38 Special was formed by singer-guitarists Donnie Van Zant and Don Barnes in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1974. Donnie Van Zant is the brother of Ronnie Van Zant of Lynyrd Skynyrd.
This song was co-written by Jim Peterik, who was a member of the band Survivor. One of the biggest songs Jim is known for writing is “Eye of the Tiger.” In fact, he wrote or co-wrote several of 38 Specials earliest hits, including “Rocking Into The Night,” “So Caught Up in You,” and “Fantasy Girl.” He’s just a tremendous songwriter. Before Survivor, Jim had a band called The Ides Of March. They had a very successful song named “Vehicle,” which went all the way to number two on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1970. Check it out when you get a chance, it’s great.
Great song great reaction Shawn! You need to do rockin into the night from these guys! Please! It’s another banger from these guys and a great cruisin song!
I love this band! I have a guy friend who’s daughter asked him for advice about her boyfriend ~ he spoke the chours of this song to her ~ she thought he was a genius 🤣🤣🤣 she’d never heard the song before!

This song and Caught Up In You are such well crafted songs (not to mention well played)
One of the GREATEST 70s rock!
Their first album was released in 1977. This is from Special Forces released in 1982. So, technically '80's rock. Big part of my younger days.
Go old southern rock n roll. Great band
Thanks for the reaction. Love .38 Special ❤❤❤
FANTASY GIRL is another great song by .38 special

RIP Ronnie!!🤘🤘🤘🤘🎶🎼🎵
“Caught Up In You” was their other big hit! Great guitar riffs in these songs.
Just another example of the multitude and variety of amazing rock acts doing it in the early 80s!
38 Special is my favorite "Southern Rock Band", because they are rocky and sometimes a little poppy. They have a great ballad called "Second chance".
Yessssssss.......10 outta 10! ty brothrr 💥☘️🇺🇲
Check out Chain Lightnin' by these guys. Big time banger.
One of the Best Ever Album Covers! What an Awesome Group!
.38 Special is def one of my fave bands of ANY genre! Never fails to make me happy!!!! Seems you got that vibe, for sure!!! ❤🔥🔥👍

Love .38 Special. 😎
By far my favorite 38 Special song… it helped me get through some hard years!!!!!
To Shawn, do you always smile like that? You just seem like an eternally happy guy!
I absolutely Love 38 Special; great group that could rock their behinds off.❤️🎼
Great song great reaction Shawn! You need to do rockin into the night from these guys! Please! It’s another banger from these guys and a great cruisin song!
I love this song. .38 Special has some really great songs that are fresher than today’s music!
Great track from the beginning to the end. Amazing commentary. Trust is the glue of life. It’s the most essential ingredient in a relationship.
Oh man Shawn, one of the best of Southern Rock!! 😎🔥🤘
I love this band! I have a guy friend who’s daughter asked him for advice about her boyfriend ~ he spoke the chours of this song to her ~ she thought he was a genius 🤣🤣🤣 she’d never heard the song before!
This entire Album is amazing
❤️❤️❤️
Another turn-it-up song on the car radio around the same time was "Turn Me Loose," by Loverboy.
Good little solo at the end
Huge hit.
Great song and reaction
I've heard this song a million times, but never focused on the lyrics and im glad that you were able to react to it for me to understand it more
Yes, this is the song. So good.
A lot of great memories with this great song, and actually the entire album.

Donnie Vanzant in 38 special is the Brother of Ronnie from Lynard Skynard.🥁☮☘
I feel like I’m back in high school again! Where is my big early 80s hair, though?! 🤔😂
So many hooks during the final part of the song.
Saw them last summer! .38 Special's singer Donnie Van Zant's big brother Ronnie co-founded Lynyrd Skynyrd.
I agree whole heartfelt. If you don't have trust in each other you may as well hang it up right then and there. Because you have nothing..
Saw them open up for Rush in 1980. Great live band.
Oh I bet that was freakin epic!
@@rayvanhorn1534 - it was. I saw some great opening acts for Rush, including UFO and Pat Travers as well.
The VZ connection. These fellow's had skills. Not taking anything away from DB's!!!
gotta love the album cover - still have this vinyl. southern rock RULED the 70's
Shawn you liked this so you will like Twentieth Century Fox off of Tour De Force i'm sure, another up tempo fast driving song about a woman who knows what she has going for herself with 2 singers sharing vocals
As much as I DON'T like Skynyrd, Tucker and the later Allman discs ..I thought this was a pretty catchy tune! 🤔
What happened to good music like this the music has gone down the toilet now
😊😊😊😊
Pretty much a Southern Rock/pop band. A few catchy tunes but not on par with giants like Skynyrd, Marshall Tucker, Allman Bros or even Molly Hatchet.
