Everything looks beautiful! I know all about this myself. We got swamped at work the last couple of weeks, so I am working a lot of overtime (in week and every other weekend). This cuts into my sewing a lot. I can't wait to retire! Just a few more years. LOL! You'll get them done. Thank you for another wonderful video. Have a wonderful and Blessed day!
I can retire in 10 years, so it is a bit for me but I do try to at least cut fabric or sew on a daily basis. If not that, I am picking out a pattern for fabrics.
Don't be so down on yourself! You are amazing to do all these quilt projects, make videos, tend family obligations AND work a regular job! Yay, you!!!!!
Thank you. I do try to give myself grace when I need rest but I am a person that when I have something on my plate, I can't rest. My goal for each day - one foot in front of the other and hoping to not trip.
Well, we all seem to be in the same boat. I made a rule for myself a few years ago. I cannot start a project until the one I am working on is finished. That means if the quilt is quilted & bound then it is done. I love listening to your sweet voice.
Hi Cathy, I suggest to only do the projects you love. I think you are doing great and it seems you go nonstop with work and sewing. Take care and enjoy the process. 😊
I am loving sewing all the projects and sometimes I don't know if it is going to be my "thing" until it is completed but I do enjoy the process to completing them.
Join the crowd of having tons of projects to be finished. I am real good at getting the tops done and then I get bored and want to start something new. Love the "Boo" top. Also, the yellow and black top is so pretty.
We should start a club. I have actually seen on Facebook several groups that sell finished quilt tops. I just can't imagine selling them unless once completed I realize it won't be something that I use.
I canceled all my blocks of the month! Until I compete all my unfinished quilts. When they are finished, I would like to bring back creative notions and fat quarter shop lori holt fabric one. I don't want my subscriptions every month. My goal after I finish my unfinished quilts is to always have a quilt to work on and my 2 subscriptions and one project.
I just finished putting the final touches on a WIP from 30 years ago!!! I took it to the long arm lady today. I can’t finish big quilts because of my back and hips. I love using the spray basting in the can. I can only do the baby size ones on my machine. Maybe look into having the bigger quilts done with a long armer.
Girl….you have some beautiful projects to finish! Do the Christmas project done first so you can put it up with your Christmas decor. Then just pick one and git er done. I think it’s harder to do the finishes than to do the projects because there are so many fun ones to do
I've done the Open Gates table topper also but I wanted to add another set of houses or two around it with more borders. O.G. didn't have anymore of the Christmas fabric and I've been too chicken to just add a bunch of grunge houses to it. As much as I hate to give it away I guess I'll do that for a early Christmas gift this year. Such pretty fabric Monica designed. Maybe you could back the pumpkin table runner with the Boo table runner? I like getting a double use out of my table runners and back them with something that can be used the following holiday so that would give you October and November. I thought the Boo pattern was also really cute. I'm working on 3 large Cotton Cuts, the Pressed Flowers and I'm in the Art East Wonderland BOM and Kimberly Rado's Reindeer Games BOM. I have Carolina Moore's Advent Calendar 2023 that I haven't started and her 2024 calendar BOM that I haven't started. I need to finish and get caught up on the others first. Do you get the Pastry Shop treats box? I found out about them through Holly last October and I've loved every box. I also get the Sweetwater box and have for several years. As you know it every 3 months so I have a tendency to forget it until it shows up! Do you label your quilts? I'm absolutely terrible about doing that - terrible!
Wow! So many projects going. I haven't gotten the Pastry box yet because I am waiting until after retreat to do that. The table runners are different widths but I will keep that in mind for other projects that might end up the same width. I don't know how I forgot but I am doing the small Cotton Cuts Carnival and starting the large Tree of Life next month. I am going to try to keep it down to 7 active projects at a time so I can work on them at least once a week. Thank you so much for watching!
I'LL give you some very wise and useful information I have recently learned. Regarding your many works in process--you will NEVER finish them until you STOP buying fabrics. I know from experience. Let's face it, us quilters do not live to be 300 years old and I promise you that you will wake up one da and realize you just don''t have that many shopping days left. Be wise.
I understand what you are saying. I am working on organizing and downsizing my sewing room right now and that will help with project completions (hopefully). The good thing though with my new organization is if I go, everything will already be packaged together with pattern and fabrics needed and someone will inherit a lovely stash to either work or pass on to someone else with the love. BUT, I do agree whole heartedly. Since it is just me at home most of the time since my husband works away, I do sew almost every day. I touch, cut or sew fabric on a daily basis. I love searching Pinterest for small sewing projects also and that helps use up extra fabrics that have been thrifted. Thank you so much for the reminder.
Hello! New quilter here (dabbled 20+ years ago). I love the autumn table runner. I like to do the piecing on things but am learning to quilt on my home machine. Would you consider selling the top as is?
It doesn’t actually look like you don’t finish projects. It looks like the tops are done. Do you quilt yourself or do you send out for a long arm? These can get done in a few sit downs.
Yes, the tops are done, I just need to quilt them. Smaller projects I will do on my machine, I have only sent a throw to the long arm (I have never made anything larger) and larger projects will go to the long arm as well. I call them unfinished because I technically still can't use them. Thank you so much for watching.
I can understand about unfinished projects. But with you not being able to perform the embroidery on your new machine...I wouldn't have gotten rid of my embroidery machine. (if I remember correctly). I will be waiting for you to show the completed projects.
It is just a memory issue with using the thumb drive for embroidery. I can embroider designs on the machine with no problem. I am sure it is user malfunction.
Your grandson deserves that beautiful quilt ❤
He does!!! That will be the first top that I will complete.
Everything looks beautiful! I know all about this myself. We got swamped at work the last couple of weeks, so I am working a lot of overtime (in week and every other weekend). You have some lovely items there! I would finish the sailboat one first since it is for your grandson. It looks like it will be very beautiful!
That is my plan, finish his first and then the Christmas one so I can store it away with Christmas items.
Well, we all seem to be in the same boat. I made a rule for myself a few years ago. I cannot start a project until the one I am working on is finished. That means if the quilt is quilted & bound then it is done. I love listening to your sweet voice.
Awe thank you. I get bored easily so I try to have multiples but not to exceed more than 1 a day because I want to hit each one at least once a week.
I love the black and yellow quilt top how beautiful.
Thank you! It is a baby quilt size.
Hi Cathy, I suggest to only do the projects you love. I think you are doing great and it seems you go nonstop with work and sewing. Take care and enjoy the process. 😊

The quilt tops are really nice. I am partial to the yellow and black!
The pattern on the fabrics is the honeycomb and bees. Thank you!
Your work is beautiful
Thank you so much.
I have about 4 top that need to be sandwiched and quilted. I got one I have pinned and started hand quilting it.
Oh gracious! My hands would never let me hand quilt - I don't think anyway. Most of them I can machine quilt and bind.
Join the crowd of having tons of projects to be finished. I am real good at getting the tops done and then I get bored and want to start something new. Love the "Boo" top. Also, the yellow and black top is so pretty.
Thank you! LOL my title should be "Collector of Unfinished Projects". 2024 is going to be different (I hope).
Lorraine. I belong to ur crowd. I have 50 tops done then I get bored doing one and start a new one and it goes on and on
We should start a club. I have actually seen on Facebook several groups that sell finished quilt tops. I just can't imagine selling them unless once completed I realize it won't be something that I use.
I have taken 75 pieces to a consignment store. Tops that i didn't want to finish. Plenty more to finish now. Oh well. Luv ur channel 😊
Wow! I hope I don't end up with that many. That is why I need accountability.
I canceled all my blocks of the month! Until I compete all my unfinished quilts. When they are finished, I would like to bring back creative notions and fat quarter shop lori holt fabric one. That is a great goal! My 2024 main goal is to "Smash the Stash".
I WISH YOU WOULD FINISH THEM I REALLY WANT TO SEE WHAT YOU DO WITH ANNE OF GREEN GABLES AS I LOVE THAT
I will be and I will bring everyone along with me. I think the Anne of Green Gables will be the next larger quilt after I get what is in boxes done.
I have a few tops that need finished, as well. I know that I will get them done, when I’m done with other projects. Someday……………….
Hahaha - that is how I am - someday...
I watch “just get it done” on UA-cam. Sometimes when I am in a project and it’s not perfect, I remind myself to just get it done
I am going to have to check that out. I have never heard of it before. Thank you!
Karen Brown, right?
@@genawalter401 I'm not sure yet but I am going to look it up.
@@genawalter401 yes that’s her. But I like to remind myself to just get it done. It doesn’t have to be absolutely perfect
Perfectly imperfect is my motto.

So far everything can be done on the machine. Now the Craftsman will be longarmed since it will be bed size.

That is the problem exactly! I get the top done and then want to move on to another project. I squirrel to bright, shiny things.
Girl I have at least 10x that many unfinished projects!
Oh well whew! That makes me feel a lot better. I am glad to know that this is common for quilters.

Which top?
The pumpkin table runner from Kaleidescope Quilts at the 4 minute mark?
@CindyOgilvie email me and we can work something out.

Cathy, have you contacted your Bernina dealer about your memory issue? They should be able to answer the question for you and walk you through a fix.
I haven't at this time due to time conflicts. When.i am home at the machine they aren't open and when they are open I am at work.
