we're all bafta nominated
Rob?!
Hahaha. I remember that. 🤣
Rob to Greg davies lol
I could hear Rob's voice when I read that
“because I’ve got virgin media and the reception is terrible” - Lee just shows in 3 mins why he is worthy of the BAFTA 🤣
can you please explain what does this line means i cant figure it out
basically Virgin Media is a network service that provides Internet, and for this particular BAFTA virgin media was sponsoring the show. So for a Joke he said that the company sucks in national TV @@thomashladik247
@@thomashladik247 Virgin Media is the sponsor
David's Tuxedo is so un-noteworthy that it became noteworthy.
He'll be gutted to hear that
No no you can't have small variations in a tuxedo, it's good that men can just wear exactly the same tux all the time
Good reference, mate.
😉👍
Someone's been paying attention 👏🏽👏🏽
I enjoy it when a comedian wins an award because instead of being all shy and self-centered they get up there and own the stage.
Always amazed how quick witted he his and still maintains impeccable timing. He's so far ahead of himself it's almost like it's scripted in his head first
it would have been scripted in case he won in his head you silly old duffer lol xxxx
@@MarkWestHam lol, I wasn't specifically referring to this clip, but in general, eg on Would I Lie To You etc. Love the phrase 'silly old duffer', one of the gentlest put downs this side of a Swiss clinic.
@@Dysjoint oh, and so was yours touche.
It IS scripted. It’s just scripted 0.01 sec before in his mind. 🤣
It's called sarcasm and childish humour.
I love that he basically just used it to do stand-up 😂😂😂
Two close ups of Ant and Dec, who mysteriously keep winning BAFTAs. What a relief to see rewards for a show where the humour is all improvised, and Lee Mack does this brilliantly, as does David Mitchell.
Whilst it is one of the most entertaining and funniest programs on television, it is not as improvised as it appears. There are some behind the scenes videos which show what really happens.
@@calibrazxr750 dude of course, but give him that little bubble of ignorant bliss.
Come on man! You'll be explaining the truth about Santa next.
calibrazxr750 Do you mean for example “This is Ian”, where in an outtake it was obvious that Lee didn’t know him, but for the shoot, David’s team had to pretend?
@@colinbaker3916 I've been an audience member for some panel shows (albeit Not WILTY). In each, they had some notes on paper, and worked prefabbed jokes into the show. I think that they do not rehearse however, and that's how they retain the feel of improvisation, and perhaps that also generates some real, unplanned banter and additional jokes.
Sometimes someone stumbles through an answer or a joke and they reshoot that at the end, spoken correctly.
Colin Baker are you often mistaken for Dr Who / wedding dress Colin Baker
I say it's a lie.
Steadings would be true
@@fleuelise1852 how about just reuniting with the truth?
Its Lee.
@@dielegende9141 also add numbering and maybe somebody should help him collect his nun's ashes before on decided to clean up
After this, he was received by Her Majesty.
Did anyone hear at the very end he asks “where am I going?” 😂😂
Thanks, that made it even funnier 😂😂😂
time stamp?
@@jackoscar11 2:15 I believe.
Best Improv Comic in the world. He is unreal .. Well deserved!
Him and Paul Merton
Wow he is a good bloke. Humble and generous thinking of his team mates.
Well done Mr Mack
David is a much better and authentic comedian
@@AA-yo6yg someone's salty that David didn't win.
@@AA-yo6yg Erm, totally different forms of comedy for a start. If you don't understand why they are very different maybe you should actually look into comedy and not just what makes "You" laugh. I prefer David's comedy too, but Lee is an artist with how fast he can come up with a punchline... it's almost instant, much different than scripted comedy like David excels at.
@@AA-yo6yg I don't think David is better or worse. Both of them are top comedians, but their styles are different.
@@Tulia1911 Lee's comedy seems a bit forced
David and Victoria seem so proud of him, it's adorable
They are best friends with each other having dinner together sometimes...
Well deserved! A bit due, but what the heck. Congratulations Sir Mack!
He won it for Sargent by the way
Bob mortimer is elite on wilty
Hell is Sargent? He won for would I lie to you
@@bro89174 r/whoosh
By the way, as in "incidentally"?
"Daddy!"
I saw the awards night and thought of watching on UA-cam Lee’s speech as it was hilarious. Also watching again old episodes of Would I Lie To You. Lee Mack is unbelievably funny, quick witted. I am in awe of your talent Mr Lee!
Thanks Laura.
Mr. Lee is good though Mr. Mack is even funnier :)
So well deserved. Should have won a long time ago. Love you loads Lee xxx
Lee Mack is a national treasure, love the guy so funny
The bandersnatch reference really worked well with the 7% of the Crowd that had seen it and the 4% of the Crowd that had enjoyed it.
Welldeserved Lee! Greetings from the Netherlands! You're hilarious!
He deserves to win that he earned 👏his one of the most funniest people alive 🤣 😂
OUTSTANDING! Greatest show from the Chuckle Team! Still watch it !
Well deserved! Lee Mack is a comic genius and a genuinely funny, funny man. I absolutely love the show .
Well done Lee. Definitely a worthy winner.
oh yesssss they deserve it. one of my fave shows and he is the highlight ofcourse
Anyone notice how they crop the shot in so it doesn't show the VM logo just as he makes the joke 😂😂😂
Well deserved! Thank you for all the laughs!
It's hard to believe how few awards and nominations WILTY has received in categories for Lee, David and the show. Somebody doesn't appreciate the gem they have with this cast and format. For perspective, try lasting through the limp US version that flopped here last summer. Keep your team together, Brits. And keep posting them on UA-cam for us to enjoy with a whiff of envy on the other side of The Pond.
Love Lee Mack😁👍
lightning wit.
Very well deserved. Very underrated performer
he won a bafta, I think that's the opposite of underrated
I was raised by a woman who became addicted to Agatha Christie then read as many books by British authors that she could get her hands on, never missed an episode of Masterpiece Theatre on PBS, and recommended many of those to her children. I’m so grateful to Mom for that. Since I discovered QI clips on UA-cam, I have been watching those, other game shows, Graham Norton, British made movies, anything I can find from the UK. My Netflix and Hulu recommendations are usually one-third to one-half British shows. Thanks, Great Britain. You rock! I won’t get into the music side because I don’t want to be up all night, but the Beatles, Moody Blues, and Queen are my top three favorite bands, and there are so many more on my list. Thanks again from a very grateful American. 🇺🇸🇬🇧
Look for BritBox. It has loads of British programming. QI and WILTY too.
Unfortunately it also has all the Jimmy Carr appearances, but maybe ample amount of alcohol can help you sit through those...
Addiction is certainly awful, as is having a parent who is addicted. I hope she eventually recovered.
Ummm, she was only "addicted" to Agatha Christie...not drugs or booze....@@jb888888888
HE IS THE BEST!
All the very best Gordon, love from Australia!
About time!!
A well-deserved award. He is brilliant. 🎉
I love Lee in Not Going Out, freaking hilarious 😅😅😅😅!!
I have been watching Lee Mack since the days of The Sketch Show with Tim Vine when I was a teenager. The fact he can still make all generations laugh to this day is testament to his ability as a top tier comedian. He truly deserves this accolade. 👏👏
"in case we come back next year..." Next Year here..... Got some bad news for ya mate!
Well deserved. Still funny in all the repeats.
Well deserved. He has one of the quickest wits around
Little jokey, little class, entirely MACK. love the guy
So deserved x the man's a legend x so funny x congratulations Lee x love u x god bless x
legend
Classy speech :)
Yaaaay!!!
He won that for the wedding lie he told. I'll bet my life on that!
that came to my mind when he made fun of them both in his acceptance, "bad enough I get paid more than them, but this will kill em"
A very Lee Mack speech!😂💛
next story on WILTY: ''I once won a Bafta for this show''
what a nice guy
Best man √ 😍🥰
That's how to make an acceptance speech. Well deserved
Lee Mack is a true bard of our times.
David is genuinely happy 😃
I honestly think this is the best acceptance speech of all time. I put it next to that famous Kanye one
Is there anybody with a quicker wit than Lee Mack? We in the US should steal him.
It'd fly over people's heads there let's be honest
Don't you dare!..lol
He never makes eye contact with anyone. He shook 3 guys hands and looked the other way.
In case you haven't noticed, Lee has a slight turning of his right eye I believe...
Yep
Victoria looks at David and then rob looked at David when Lee is talking about him being singled out as it’s kill rob and David whilst David just don’t look at rob or Victoria and just looks straight ahead LOL
Imagine Lee Mack and Lee Evans together... that would be legendary
I absolutely LOVE Wilty. How can I get more episodes in the US other than the ones uploaded to youtube?
Do I have to buy a million discs?
Chabuddy with the presentation 😍
Virgin media's tv service is unbelarably bad.
I wonder what will be the story he will tell about his Bafta on the next series of will I lie to you
STEADINGS
Hes definitely a little bit nervous
Understandably
How is this his first and only BAFTA?
I can't believe nobody laughed for the joke about Bandersnatch! It was a good one.😅🙃
I'm guessing that you would have to know what Bandersnatch is first.
*Quick look on Google*
Ah. It is something on Netflix. Most of the people in the room had probably not seen it.
Not very good delivery though.
I thought he said brandy snaps 🤣
It was just about the weakest joke I've ever heard
And yet you "diedlaughing?"@@dielaughing73
You should have also put up the clip that he won the award for
0:16
When the presenters are like that there can’t me much competition in British comedy
Any comedian funny enough to be nominated is disqualified from presenting, otherwise they might have to present the award to themselves
Damn look at all these hardcore fans in the comments 😂😂😂
I'm not a comedian, at least it's not my profession. But I would consider myself 'somewhat' of an aficionado, across eras and styles.
The way I see it, you can make 'a person' _laugh_ or _laugh so they can't breath._ AND you can try to do both of those across a range from 'one' to 'all' people.
Having said that, I'd say it's pretty impossible to make _all_ people _laugh so they can't breath._
So comedians have to make a compromise. Lee Mack personifies that compromise.
God those guys announcing the award were tragic.
Yeah. Cringe city.
Intentionally so it seemed
I'm hoping there was a bit more context before the clip started.
Look at David's face
Was waiting for Rob to loudly boo
Congrats!
Reglazer
added the piped in music a fraction early
1:53 I never noticed but David and Victoria have very similar side face profiles. If you gave Victoria a beard and cut her hair it could be uncanny.
I wonder what david mitchell thought, since he was also nominated singly
Probably a toned down version of his reaction to Lee “being invited to the royal wedding”
@@emperorleachicus2199 you had to bring that up, didn't you?
Isn't there three on the show?
Great comedian. Where is the Jill Scott joke
Anyone know the song when he's walking on? SOunds very familiar
Doves - Words
It's from the album 'The Last Broadcast' which is an absolute masterpiece. I'd encourage you to listen to the album as a whole.
@@robertsinnerman7804 Thanks! Knew I'd heard it before, good song!
Lee's been let out for the evening after breaking the chicken pot
the bafta will look good on the mantle next to the royal wedding invite
Ant and Dec did look a bit pissed.
shoulda gone to david!
Would I lie to you trophy you say? Would have been better if you told him it was a lie.
That trophy will be replaced by a cabbage one day
Now Lee has something to kill rats with.
Love Lee but I don't get the virgin media joke , what am I missing?
check out the podium he's speaking from around 1:12...
It's called "The Virgin TV British Academy Television Awards"
chyue8686 I'm not entirely sure but , Virgin Media was probably a primary sponsor and there was a reception party or something which was bad and also Virgin Media Tv service is terrible ( sometimes called reception). His joke correlates the two meanings of the word reception.
I could be wrong..
@@keerthisagar2200 It's the Virgin Media TV British Academy Television Awards
@Mia Smith sorry. It's British Academy of Film and Television Awards
Was the first 20secs meant to be funny?
Please someone tell me why...
I'm really frustrated how I dont find lee mack funny, is it because I'm a foreign listener? I dont hate him, but im not really laughing at his jokes... I recently watched some WILTY compilations of some comedians like david mitchell, rhod gilbert, but lee mack is the one i laugh so little and even annoyed at some point because of how he's mad at some of his bits...
Are there a lot of references that i dont know of which is why i dont really get to ride along...
Humour is subjective. Lee usually goes for referable and relatable quick thinking humour thatis supposed to throw you off what you think someone would say about something which is why his humour is great. For example virgin media is known for being unreliable for wifi etcetera... and as this was sponsored by virgin media he made a joke saying they're bad on an awards which is sponsored by virgin media. No one would expect him to do that which makes it funny
Well, it would help if you know who's who and what's what in the English scene. I'm not British, nor do I live there but I watch a lot of British tv and follow the news and discussions. I love Lee Mac's quick wit and how it complements and contrasts with David Mitchel's on WILTY. David comes across as posh, Lee Mac as working class, so there are a lot of jabs and banter going on between them to highlight their different corners of society. The entertainment comes from the exchange between all the panellists who do not tell jokes as such but are extremely funny just the same.
Lee doesn't deserve this award, he is not entertaining. Take this award off him
i despair. lee mack is cheesy, wooden, obvious, and, in my opinion, spoils would i lie to you. "did you turn the calculator upside down so it said boobies." laaaaaame zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz i really dont understand why everyone thinks hes so funny. people in the audience HOWLING over his Virgin media...ahem....'joke'. tedious.
Disagree completely Jatari eg ua-cam.com/video/bFf7qdZfHvw/v-deo.html Just for one example, of many, how is this "Wok Around the Clock" reply wooden, cheesy and obvious? All unscripted/off the cuff. He is super quick, funny and very clever.
@@johnking3945 im not even clicking the link. its not difficult to quickly think to replace rock with wok. TO ME.... is is cheesy and obvious.
@@Gallo_1.6 I think you've missed the point. Obviously the TITLE is cheesy and obvious (not Lee's choice/fault but the producer's choice or whoever wrote the question) but not Lee's answers. Here is another one: ua-cam.com/video/2VWZPdpKjAk/v-deo.html
@@johnking3945 i watch would i lie to you every day. its the only programme that consistantly amuses me. hence...i watch lee mack on thier every day. i do not like his delivery or his style of humour. not going out is terrible too. im sorry...but suggesting i watch more of his material is futile. please allow me to give an example...again... "did you turn the calculator upside down so it said boobies." criiiinnnnnge.
@@Gallo_1.6 Ok fair enough, but I watch it every day or so as well. Agree about the scripted "Not going out" being poor, (and he can be puerile/annoying at times on Wilty) but in the WILTY improvisation format I think Lee is, usually quite brilliant and well worth his place on the show.
