I have a prodigy and it completely upgraded and shoots so damn smooth. I ordered my platypus March 27, so it’ll be a little bit before I get it but I opted for the prickle grip and the bull barrel in a 5”… definitely can’t wait for it to come in
I think it comes down to what you value more. You’re looking at a $500+ difference between the two give or take. For me, I lean towards the Platypus just because I can build it from scratch basically.
As someone who hasn't shot either one (but I am waiting on my Platypus to arrive), I am going with the Platypus cuz as a "Glockboy" I have over 100 g17 mags in various capacities. Even if I didn't, an oem g17 mag is only $20 and u can get aftermarket brands for as low as $8ea. whereas a 2011 mag will run $45-$120 ea. depending on brand and right now it's hard to even find these mags in stock anywhere. However, I do plan on getting the prodigy too cuz like u said, for the money the its a great value. On gunbroker there are law enforcement packages for a prodigy w/optic, 6 mags and soft case for $1250!...so I'll be ordering that soon. Great video brother!... would love to hook up with u to shoot some guns with u, I got some nice ones in my collection as well!...BOTP!!!
@@killadocg23 let’s not turn things into a competition. Both can be great at working on prodigy’s. Only reason why I didn’t say DSC is because the original commenter is already set on sending his gun to skipz guns. Want to make sure everyone in the 2A community gets love and support Edit: also, I believe a big determining factor when picking gunsmith’s is knowing what their lead times are and how long you are willing to wait to have your gun worked on. Another thing is price. I’m genuinely believe any decision someone makes would be a great decision
@@hoyt1198I would say yes it’s my favorite. My staccato XL is right there with it. Both have Cheely grips, Red Dirt triggers, wide ambi safeties. The Staccato XL is more accurate. Both have a LOT of work and money in them! My staccato p19 Heritage is a close 2nd
One other difference is you can buy a prodigy off your LGS shelf. Platypuses are built to order, as of the first week of April they're 17 to 20 weeks out. I have one order and hopefully it'll be here by my birthday in August. That gives me time to save up for my 507 comp and holster.😊
I own 4 Springfield’s…..all different configurations. I’d like to design a Stealth to my liking, and the fact I can use Glock mags is a plus. Idk if I can justify the cost difference. If I spend the Stealth amount….id buy a Bul Armory Tac . Maybe. Great video, and good shooting!
The customization to me has been more for the look and feel of the gun I don't think on the performance atleast when u saw I didn't see anything that particularly pertained to improving the performance maybe just the trigger weight.
Two very different guns 2011 DS vs 1911DS. Gun experts all in here Prodigy 1,299 vs Platypus 1,999 plus, I own both prodigy 4,25 and Platypus commander and they shoot different
My only issue is that they are both currently only available in 9mm. I don't like the round, but I'm heavily curious about the weapons. I want 40 that's what I want. 🤷🏼♂️
Was gone get a plat for my first 2011 but wanted the full experience that means mags too Glock mags was a turn off for my first 2011 maybe later down the road I waited till Springfield fixed the issues b4 I got one of all u do is live on UA-cam for the next man’s opinion you’ll miss out on a lot of good things being a sheep that mf runs 🤷🏾♂️ made me seek my glock 17 and 48 for a echelon and hell cat pro went all in on Springfield…also if no bull barrel ion want it
In a previous video he'd mentioned he got the Platypus in black from factory and then sent it off to his mate who does cerakote work... It looks like Riptile pattern...I work with a Cerakote business down here in Aussie and we do that pattern all the time..
Prodigy isn’t even an option for me since the Illinois based Springfield Armory doesn’t offer its fellow Illinois citizens a 10 or 15 round option. Everything I’ve watched has been nothing but positive on the Platypus and love the customization. Stealth Arms has won my business.
@@billsanders9726 what capacity mags came with it and were these purchased pre ban or post ban? From their own website and the customer service representative i spoke to, I was told that there was no Prodigy’s available new with the 15 round or less magazine restriction. I would love to buy a Prodigy so hoping I was given incorrect information when I contacted them
I was lucky enough to buy mine pre ban. I’m interested how you got one as well since the date of the video and what you stated was post ban. So like the others, how did you get one??? I actually bought 15 round magazines from Staccato so I can still carry mine.
After 1000rds through my 4.25 Prodigy, I shoot my Platypus better. The Prodigy is very good however, my Platypus just edges it out, just. My Prodigy is going to be my project gun.
18 to 20 week lead time am good i would get the spring field and send it off to skipz!! For 500 to 600 he can trick that thing out and have it back to you way before u get that platypus!!! But if u can wait then go with the platypus but so much shit can happen to u in 20 weeks!!! The lead time for most of the good 2011s like nighthawk, steath, sti, is fucking crazy!!! But if u want top of the line and reliability i guess u gotten wait!!!
Brotha we go to the same range, maybe one day I'll bump into you. Keep the videos coming!
I love that platypus man new grip is really nice and there border is great .
Platypus all day. I can use my glock mags with my AR, glocks, and Platypus. Alos, the 30mrd mags
Throw the new MAC 1911 DS into that showdown.

I also went with the prickle grip and bull barrel in commander length. I ordered mine 2 weeks ago. Can't wait to get it.
You get the platypus yet
@@cameronmills3414 yes I got it the beginning of August
Really good video and it will definitely help people make a difficult decision. Price point comparison was a good idea!
Nice review, and the glock mags are a plus, performance looks similar, but i think i am going to go the prodigy for my firdt trip into 2011's
Prodigy is $1150 without the optic at Exile Armory
Great video as usual. Interesting to see the differences between the two side by side. Thanks for sharing bro….. keep going.

That and you magazines are $20 bucks or less if you shop around
Specifically now that the Platypus had a better grip option and threaded barrel

Now we’re talking brother
The Prodigy is heading your way in the near future
I have both of them. They both shoot amazing period. The new plat design makes it way better but it is also 500$ more than the prod.
Which do you like better?? I have the prodigy, it’s smooth and accurate!!
That's why I like you RGG you are a realist bruh... 😎
Been debating this for a few weeks now. Gonna go with the 5" Prod and send it to Skip Gunz for some work
I sent my prodigy to skip last year... The gun is now just as good as a staccato but for MUCH cheaper! DO IT!
That’s what I would do!!
DSC gun works is who you want to send it to!

@PnP-td1mt that's awesome I live in fairborn near dayton. I am getting ready to send my prodigy to skip and then start saving for my next 2011.
The playa is amazing, one of the best shooting pistols I own
Seems like your Prodigy does not have gremlins. I might have to hit up Brownell's and tell them you sent me. What distance do you zero your optics?

4.25 my Edc
I like the tricolor slide. Were you able to do that with them as well? I didn’t see that option.
How are you able to get these guns in Illinois with the 15 round capacity law in place?
You can get 10 round mags for just about any firearm
Was thinking the same thing. Luckily I got mine before the ban.
Hard choice 🔥🔥🔥
I got the platypus because it’s made in America. I love it! It’s awesome! My C2 is still smoother
I got a question. Did you know that Stealth Arms has a discount web site, and did you use it. Would appreciate an answer.

Wait now on the 1911 you can change out the grip the Plat seems more like single molded polymer grip.
$80-$150 for mags really starts to change the bang for buck dynamic though
Looks to me that the prodigy is shooting flatter for you. Things feel different in hand but just an observation.

Prodigy 4.25 shoots better then my buddies staccoto c2 so definitely shoots better then platt. Note i hate glocks plus plat isnt a 2011

No comparison, stealth arms platypus all day. Glock mags.
Plat colors big turn off for me I don't need you to see my weapon a mile away cause it's bright😂
So pick different colors! They're all Ceracoated to your individual specs.
Worst take I've seen on the platypus. Everything on it is colored to your exact request so just don't order flashy colors?
Double-taps rely on our grip, so we can get return-to-zero as close as possible. Again, it’s about our master grip.
