    Alfie, you should also interview a scientist who can explain the other side, "what proves that the earth is a sphere!" That would be interesting!

    Why doesn't he take a boat and sail around the world? If he gets back to the same place after going in only one direction, he'll find out that the Earth is round.

    I love this sort of video. My questions- If it is flat- why is the moon in phases, why is the time/sun location different in different places and why is the Antarctic drastically different temperatures than at the equator?

    I’m not a dedicated viewer of your channel, however this video really attracted my interest when I saw it in my recommended and I must say I was very much pleasantly surprised with this video and I really loved this style of video and documentation. I am very excited for the next part of this and I’m glad you’re stepping out of your comfort zone. What a great watch!

    What about day and night and different seasons? How come it's day here when it's night in other places of the Earth if it's flat? And same with seasons. Also what about gravity-acceleration being different at the equator compared to the acceleration at the poles? And the coriolis effect?

    I just want to know how can I be in the middle of the day in Australia but my cousin can be in the middle of the night on the other side of the world at the same time of the earth is flat??? If the Earth was flat, why don’t travel to a country that is placed right at the end? If it was flat, you should see the end and maybe look down and the discussion would end?

      I’m not saying that is right, but people who think that the earth is flat also believe in the Pac-Man theory, which says that if you walk till the end of the flat earth you are actually “”teleported”” to the opposite end, as in the Pac-Man videogame

    Maybe you should speak with someone who believes the earth is round like visit a uni or something and approach it in the same way as you have here with and open mind not trying to prove or disprove anything that way you (and your viewers) could have both perspectives and “facts” about both point of views and be able to make a more educated decision about what they decide to believe. I only say this because I feel like if someone doesn’t know a lot about either point of view it is easier for them to be swayed one way or another so if you got equal information from each perspective it would be very beneficial for a lot of people.

    Whilst I find it hard not to judge his ideology, I can't believe him.
    His need to simply validate and shock value disproves his genuine thoughts. A couple of things he can't disprove;
    Hemispheres
    The poles (N/S)
    The tidal pull of the moon
    Magnetic fields
    The earth's core
    Also, life's short, just be happy.

    I love that Alfie switched up the content and I love the questions he asked. I really enjoyed watching this. However, the interviewee has a lot of misconceptions regarding Earth. Obviously nothing will prove it to him that the Earth isn't flat, but regarding the whole not feeling the spinning thing, we literally learned about it in physics when we were learning about gravity and all that. Also, to those saying that flat earth should be taught at school so people can draw their own conclusions... Scientist have been researching for ages and have proven time and time again that the Earth is round, so I personally don't see nor believe that false ideas like that should be taught. Before you get lost in (believing) all the conspiracy theories, do your research on history, science and all that.

  • @grishmapillai6618
    @grishmapillai6618 5 років тому +361

    Everyone is entitled to their opinion which is why I don't want to judge his beliefs, but I am unable to believe this conspiracy because if the Earth is flat why are there seasons? why are there time zones? night and day? if Flat earthers can scientifically explain to me how they work then I could possibly believe it.. But I love these kind of videos regardless.. love hearing other people's thoughts

    Well if this dude is so interested in believing what he has observed, but not believing blindly in science, he has the possibility to observe the reality of all scientific conjectures through experiences. Science isn't blindly believed in, it is something Men have created from scratch to take count of what they observe. I find it even disrespectful to put your own observation over what our whole civilization has fought to build, it even is the biggest form of egocentricity that can exist.

    Changing the type of content you do here was a really great decision. I enjoy the 'new' content and this was particularly interesting. Even though we'd all think 'believing this is crazy', you treated the topic and that guy with utter respect and you kind of opened my eyes as I would have always thought you cannot discuss with people who believe this but he seemed very much like a person you can talk to and discuss different views of the world.

  • @erin4823
    @erin4823 5 років тому +84

    Although I personally do not believe in this theory, when reading into this topic, I often think of when people used to think that the Earth was the centre of the universe. These flat-Earthers who are deemed 'crazy' by the general public resemble those like Galileo and Copernicus, who questioned, 'what if the Earth WASN'T the centre of everything', and were right. People were thrown in jail for believing something against the common beliefs of everyone else, but it was later proven that they were right. On the other hand, Galileo and Copernicus were skilled and experienced astronomers and mathematicians who based their beliefs upon real observations of the universe made by them. As a young person who is fascinated by space and the expanse of the universe, I've just decided to stick to my beliefs that the Earth is round and everything else that is the norm, however, I will not 100% rule out this theory. If people one day came out with 100% solid proof, I would be intrigued and exited about this new discovery and I have learned to stay open-minded and not build any beliefs that are too concrete that they stop me from learning new things. This was a really interesting perspective but I still believe that the Earth is round because of all the science behind gravity, seasons and other phenomena that the Earth experiences which is explained by the spherical shape of the planet.

    ALFIE DEYES, YOU'VE LEFT ME SO CURIOUS. This video was so, so interesting to watch. I'm so happy for you that your contest is your maturing along with this channel. I've never actually thought about this topic, I don't think most people do. I feel we automatically shrug it off because Earth being round is what we've always known. Though, that's still what I believe, I loved that this person answered with such clarity and this was a proper and honest discussion between two people who believe in two different things. If only every debate and discussion was as open as this. People need to realise that what they might believe is not everyone else's belief. It's unfair to put someone down simply because you believe in something different. Loved the video!

    Love how 90% of the comments are people bashing this guy for believing in something different from their own beliefs. “Pretty sure the earth is round” key words being “pretty sure” aka you don’t KNOW for sure. People can believe what they want to believe. Someone believing the earth is flat has literally no affect on you so stop calling someone you don’t even know dumb or stupid or crazy. Try having an open mind. If you believe everything you’re told is always 100% fact then that’s..... sad. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I don’t believe it’s flat but others do and that’s okay. No need to be so rude or mean.

    Wow! Interesting. Talking about the edge and the ice keeping us in and not letting us go beyond made me remember the divergent series

    Alfie I am soo in love and excited about your new content on this channel!! I love that you have changed things up...rather than what you were " expected to do" from others and is doing things you are interested in...I have been following you since 2013 and i remember you used to do sit down chat videos in your vlog channel then besides vlogs and from those i was soo inspired to pursue what i love and passionate about!!
    But anyways really stocked about your new content cant wait for more!!

    I am really glad that you are doing this. The flat earth conspiracy has been something that has always interested me and has challenged my opinion of the government. Yes, with knowledge comes great power, but is that knowledge going to harm or benefit me as an individual?
