I'm honoured to have played with The West Ocean String Quartet with Liam O'Flynn and Arty McGlynn that day in Dingle c 2009. Rest in peace Liam. May your music carry you to a peaceful place...
I dont mean to be offtopic but does anyone know a method to get back into an instagram account..? I was stupid lost the password. I would love any help you can offer me.
Two separate pieces; the first tune is 'the Brendan Theme', then the jig 'Water Under the Keel' begins around 4:40. Both were composed by William Jackson for the Brendan Suite.
I am biassed, coming from Omagh, where Arty is from, but I think he is a genius. He is equally at home playing Irish traditional, country, or folk. He is also an excellent jazz musician. One of Ireland's most underrated musicians.
Arty Mc Glynn whos from Omagh is one of Omaghs greatest exports,I have Mc Glynn's Fancy on LP,I was at a Van Morrison concert in Dublin in October and was offered alot of £ for it,not for sale
Oh dear it's more than a decade or two since I've seen this 'suite' played and we are in the brand new decade without a name and this music needs a name... The Brendan Voyage. I googled it as you would do :D
Ah, the poor pundit who couldn't appreciate the synthesized keyboard. Not a musician, just a critic. What a wonderful piece and the (piano) accompaniment was dead on, lifting the whole piece into it's deserved space of musical culture. ALL of the accompaniment was just super, and synergy wins again.
Would love to hear Davy Spillane play this and hear if he could bring anything more in the way of emotion here as Liam O'Flynn and Le' Arty McGylnn just nail it. Not that you pick the emotion from Mr O'flynn's features...a very taciturn man. Cheers.
What a sad loss - a true great - maybe one of the greatest pipers ever.

Liam and Arty are surely playing sweet music in the heavens now, rest easy Arty and Liam two absolute legends of Irish music.
RIP Liam and Arty. Beautiful playing.
RIP Liam..
A real gem
Very emotional playing and, in the right circumstances, would bring tears to the eyes.
You’re absolutely right there. I’m listening to it now, 14 March 2018, having just heard the news of the great man’s death, at just 72 years young.
What a beautiful piece of music
ach aye could listen to that McGlynn fellow all night-pure class!!!We love you Arty and O Flynn's not half bad either!
One of the most moving pieces I know on the pipes. He was a great player.
Liam has a special tonality all of his own. We met him in Battle back in the 90s and had such a great evening.
The Brendan Voyage is my favourite suite of music ever!

This is one of the "Brendan voyage" (LP-CD) tracks...
@TheclassicOL Youre Talking about the Uilleann Pipes! Liam O'Flynn is one of the Best at Playing them! In My own Opinion!

What is the point of keyboard players? Just awful, should be banned. Mighty piping all the same....as usual.
You're boring.
