Overall, the interior decoration was top notch! It was very generous of the tenants to allow you to video this apartment. A real treat for us Westerners. Thank you Russell from USA 👍❤️

Something ive learned since I started watching your channel is that life in Russia is really not much different than life here in the US. Something I’ve often wondered and I hope you cover it in one of your vids is how apartments in Moscow are heated in the winter.

Great video. It looked to be very good build quality with good finish. Furniture is obviously not to the Western taste but having lived in Asia I've seen many like this. For a major city like Moscow the rent seems reasonable but as you mention it would be best to have easier access to a public transport hub. Very interesting description of the Moscow fridge/balcony. In the US a master bedroom means a bedroom with an attached private full bathroom. Every average house or townhouse in the US has one, or at least newer houses built within the last 50 years or so. Some houses, especially ones meant more as vacation rentals, can sometimes have two or more master bedrooms, which enables multiple families or couples that are friends to rent large houses together for a vacation at the shore, for example. But in that case a master bedroom with a bath for each is a must. Kids of couse can share hall bathrooms. So I see this room does have an attached bathroom so i guess it is a master. The balcony would be better suited to be off a livingroom or family room where it can be easier shared by the whole family.
family-oriented is when you have at least your own private ground-level entrance, if not also a garage and driveway and private yard where kids can safely play at a hand's reach from inside. This looks more like an elite couples' place, not family oriented.
Я согласен смотрится убого, просто уверен, что ремонт и отделку делали лет 15-20 назад, с тех пор не переделывали, по современным стандартам выглядит убого.
Nice - In St. Louis Missouri that would be $3,000 per month and in Washington DC would be $6,000 on the low side and $11,000 a month o the high side with $5,000 being average for a large area of Washington. Nice apartment.
it is not correct to compare. The cities are organized completely differently. Life in LA and New York City are organized completely differently. In Moscow, the average apartment is 10 stories high, and in LA, how many? But in Moscow, an apartment is 70 meters, in LA, a house is 200. It is not correct There are approximately 17,125,000 residents in the Moscow agglomeration. A 20-minute drive to the center in a quiet area is expensive
The apartment is still a lot of money and maybe I could afford it working in the west but not pay that in Moscow.I just could never earn the same money there unless a good business idea came up. That’s the biggest issue moving to Russia as a foreigner. It’s trying to earn a decent wage and having an equivalent or better lifestyle to now. Having said that meeting an amazing woman there can also change one’s perspective and make it worth the move in other ways.
Hi Russell I watch your channel all the time. I wondered if you can show us a townhouse like two or three levels high, that would be great if you can do that😊😊😊
I am trying to find more places to show in the channel. Even through real estate agents. Town houses aren't really a thing in a lot of parts of Russia. I will keep trying though.
Hey Russell 👋 👋 230 Sq Meters is 2,476 feet! In Boise, Idaho, a 500 foot / 46 sq meter one bedroom apartment is $1500 to $2000 per month. Garbage paid (possibly sewer/water) - laundry in building. ❤❤ In a gated community with security- its at a minimum $2500😊
We do not have laundry rooms in the basements, at all. We all own our own washing machines in the apartments. We have self-serving laundries, mostly used by those who want to wash/clean big pieces like bed covers, etc, and spare money. And we have "dry cleaning" companies, who would take everything you want to clean/wash and do it at their laundry facilities.
Wow! Almost 2500 sq. ft! While it's certainly big enough the distribution of space is different than what you would have in America. I would want a larger TV room/lounge as you call it and a smaller kitchen table space. I get the feeling everyone hangs out around the dining table in RU. Thank you for showing all the different housing options. If you can show one of those townhouses near your apt that would be great.
Do you expect Russell to knock on their front doors for you ? Russell is not a licenced estate agent / realter. He is a content creater on youtube ! Some people put far too much pressure and requests, and then complain when things are not the same style/ size / design/ wallpaper as in their own country, for goodness sake.
Esthetically it's nice, but not practical for a family as quite overpriced for what you get. For a family you don't want to pay for fancy decor, but you want more rooms and closet space for a much lower price.
Hi Russell , even though the apartment is large i found it claustrophobic. I say that because the layout was not properly and right away when you walk in the kutchen looks out of place. Their was not a flow to the apartment. The furniture was not appealing to a more modern crowd. I could go on but i think you get my point. You did a great job as always being our tour guide!
Thanks for the comments. This was a place a friend is renting right now and they needed a bigger place for so many kids. He and I both agree he furniture is a little dated. I think also a more modern light color scheme would make the place look amazing also.
Not my taste and I don't think it's worth more than $3K. There's too much going on with the design and the apt is not well laid out. The foyer is too large, the dining table is in the middle of the entry, the "kitchen" is a breakfast bar, that sauna is a waste of space and the bedrooms are all clustered together. The important things like a kitchen are minimized and the Not do important things, master bedroom & living room, are huge.
Thank you for the tour. I live in the Twin Cities area in MN in the USA. The rent here would be a lot more than $4119. I noticed they have wardrobes and no built in closets.
I think you'll find that to be case in most countries in Europe as well. I think built-in closets are a pretty uniquely American thing, maybe Canadian too, not sure. In general i think Americans on the average own far more clothes and shoes than anywhere else in the world. Years ago i remember being surprised to learn in Europe that people there typically wear the same outfit for a week, not a different one every day. I mean they might change their underwear or even shirt, that i don't know, but the same jacket, skirt, trowsers, etc. And so they travel on business with half the luggage that an American might. In America this kind of imperative to have so much clothes was probably promoted for the sake of business revenue.
This apartment nicely done only furniture is not my cup of tea. Beautiful big bathrooms. Very expensive and I believe is for very rich Russians. Thank you Russel.
VERY VERY RICH RUSSIANS! Doctors, Lawyers, Surgeons, CFO, CEO, Pilots, University Professor and ANY OTHER RESPECTABLE JOB could not afford this aartment.
Seems like old Russia style mixed with some newer Russian style..... Was expecting something top of the line new features since the building doesn't look that old 🤔
Wonderful presentation, food for thought. However your mention of Red Square made me think, What residential buildings would present the best viewing of the May Day, or Victory Day Parade? As to the second thumbs up: 👍.
You can't see the parade itself, no such buildings around Red Square. But before the parade the tanks and other machines are stationed at Tverskaya Street waiting to make their entrance. So, people who live at Tverskaya usually stay on their balconies and watch. I may have heard there were certain owners who rented their balconies to those who were willing to pay 😂. Not sure how it is now though. Also, many people, especially with children, usually come to the center early in the morning before the metro exits are closed, and stand along the streets, again to watch the tanks and other vehicles.
The first bathrooom is called a "Sauna" or "Steam Room" in the US. Family bath is wow!The rails in the first room may be a radiant heat. Are the walls thin? I heard that they traditionally don't have insulation. The master is very beautiful. I'm more into Swedish style then this older furniture. Northern USA has super 🥶 cold garages. We keep freezers out there.😊 I rent based on my retirement it's 33% add to that my utility payment and it's $450 per month.🎉
Obviously very few people could afford to rent a place like that, no matter what country you are from. Money aside, the furnishings are not really to my taste but I guess there are those who would like it. My question is mundane but important - how is the quality of the drinking water and the efficiency of the sewage service?
I would imagine that a furnished rental like that would be nice for several college students or working singles who would split the monthly rental. They wouldn't have to worry about buying furniture. But the furnishings may be a drawback for couples with children, since they most likely have their own furniture. To me, the apartment seemed dark and depressing, with all of that heavy furniture, taupe paint and overdone window dressings.
Not clear how many underground parking spots are included, lockers? Is there a community center with recreation/fitness rooms, swimming pool, etc.? One of the main benefits of living in such a place comparing a standalone house would be having all these amenities in close proximity, not needing to drive there every time. As for the apartment itself, it definitely lacks a ground or rooftop patio, or at least an extra-large open balcony to put there a barbeque, etc.
For the barbecue people would have a "dacha"- house with a piece of land outside the city, rent/own a townhouse with a piece of land, or at least proceed to the nearest designated barbecue area (we have ones in some parks).
@@_V_G What is wrong with having a barbeque in the city? In North America you can see gas or electric barbeques on every second balcony/patio, even in downtowns.
So people in Russia don’t get to choose their furnishings? I wouldn’t like that. I enjoy picking my couch, my bed, dresser, etc. and I have furniture that has been passed down for generations that I wouldn’t like to give up. Interesting how things are done differently in different countries.
If the apartment is rented with furniture - yes, you just go with it. Some owners may negotiate on it if you do not need certain pieces of furniture, but certainly it's not obligatory on their part. You may try and find an unfurnished apartment, but they are not that popular. Or buy your own one 😂
Hi Russel, my wife and have just began to watch ur channel, those small apartments you have shown, no way i could live in them. This place i expected more western look inside, disappointed, layout is weird, was furniture from krushev time period, lots of wasted space with overtly large furniture. The tile in kids bathroom reminded of bathrooms from my school in early 70s. Are there other newer western type apartments, surprised no big tvs etc. Also any apartments from stalin era, what high level parties member would live in would be interesting, a dacha...Keep up the good vlogs from Calgary Canucks
Every generation has Spotify for a music app online, so no need for a stereo phonograph these days, and we watch news broadcasts at UA-cam, so we have no need for T.V., and that is in the U.S.A, but anywhere, you really should be referencing internet screen devices like iPads, and commenting that you wonder where their computer screens are, because keep in mind that we are not living in the 1990s.
If this is considered 'elite', this is not good for a country that is trying to boost its demographics. This is just an average size for an average family. But in gerneral there should be far more emphasis on single family houses than on apartments in multi-story buildings. In summary that would be my main observation.
Is it harder to find unfurnished apartments? The furniture in these are a bit too luxurious for me and I wonder how I would feel having such rich furniture in my place! I would feel like I can’t get comfortable as I would mess things up.
Do they have such a thing as non-elite but large family size apartments, or even more interestingly houses or townhouses? It seems there's a lot of fancy stuff in this one, which is completely unnecessary, but the size is really nothing special, not for somethign that is a half hour drive from the city. Maybe in the center of Moscow i can see such a price, but it's just not clear why your average person or family doesn't even have a livingroom and a dryer at all in an average apartment, whereas having just a normal number of rooms is somehow 'elite'. Or is it all the fancy finishes, which many people could do without? To me this is just a basice family apartment, not elite at all. Elite might be like 5 to 10 bedrooms or something like that. Only the kitchen was kind of oversized, but there was no separate dining room and everything else was pretty average.
Obviously not an average family is living there. They have a Philippino nanny living with them. They are probably waiting for their own house/apartment being built, that's why they are renting. This apartment is considered "elite" not bcs of its size, but bcs of other things- low buildings, closed territory, etc. Also, keep in mind it was built at least 15 years ago, and furnished at the same times. I can tell nothing was changes from that days😂.
Also, we usually do not have separate dining rooms. We either have a kitchen and a living room or a combined kitchen-living room. So, the big dining table is usually placed somewhere in that area. Bigger apartments/houses may have a separate dining area though.
@@_V_G Agreed. Maybe even more than 15 years ago. I'm imagining about in the 90s for some of the gangsters that abounded back then. It has that kind of cheapish eye candy shique.
@@comment6864 I googled out of curiosity, and it was built in 2008. And, believe me, those people who bought it originally were no gangsters- just wealthier part of the society, who wanted to live in a quite green safe city neighborhood with good access to the city. Neither are the current family who live there. Re the design- all of this was quite popular, again among the wealthier part of the society, believe it or not. It was considered "neoclassical".
Определённого числа Вам никто не назовёт, всё индивидуально, но россияне смогут относительно понятно объяснить друг-другу примерный уровень жилья, однако чтобы это понять надо знать многие российские реалии.
I just can't believe a dryer isn't basic in all apartments, or at least in a common area. Once you've had one all your life i can't imagine ever transitioning to not having one, ESPECIALLY if your apartment is small. Drying a lot of clothes would be a nightmare. Busy people don't have time for that.
Not everyone has a place for a separate dryer or feels a need of owning one. It's more popular to buy a laundry machine with an integrated dryer. I personally won't use a public laundry machine, I find it disgusting, sorry 😊.

What i don't really understand about Russian apartments is the lack of livingrooms, or at least family rooms. And i guess also a lack of closets
Design of this apt looks shitty as hell. Just like in Australia and the US. Rich ppl just dont have taste
Я согласен смотрится убого, просто уверен, что ремонт и отделку делали лет 15-20 назад, с тех пор не переделывали, по современным стандартам выглядит убого.
I prefer the older ones. Thank you Russell ❤.
Nice - In St. Louis Missouri that would be $3,000 per month and in Washington DC would be $6,000 on the low side and $11,000 a month o the high side with $5,000 being average for a large area of Washington.
Nice apartment.
Thanks for the insight and making the comparison. I think it being in a condo or townhouse style complex in Russia it adds a lot to the price as well.
it is not correct to compare. The cities are organized completely differently. Life in LA and New York City are organized completely differently.
In Moscow, the average apartment is 10 stories high, and in LA, how many? But in Moscow, an apartment is 70 meters, in LA, a house is 200. It is not correct
There are approximately 17,125,000 residents in the Moscow agglomeration.
Big wow, so beautiful apartment ❤❤❤😍😍 😍 and wow fabulous furniture ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I love this area...the apartment buildings look so nice
Love this video's about appartements in Russia
Hi Russell , even though the apartment is large i found it claustrophobic. I say that because the layout was not properly and right away when you walk in the kutchen looks out of place. Their was not a flow to the apartment. The furniture was not appealing to a more modern crowd. I could go on but i think you get my point. You did a great job as always being our tour guide!
Thanks for the comments. This was a place a friend is renting right now and they needed a bigger place for so many kids. He and I both agree he furniture is a little dated. I think also a more modern light color scheme would make the place look amazing also.

@@ЮрийЧижиков-ы5н стиль и правда ужасен
Not my taste and I don't think it's worth more than $3K. There's too much going on with the design and the apt is not well laid out. The foyer is too large, the dining table is in the middle of the entry, the "kitchen" is a breakfast bar, that sauna is a waste of space and the bedrooms are all clustered together. The important things like a kitchen are minimized and the Not do important things, master bedroom & living room, are huge.
Thanks Russell, its clear that nobody seems to appreciate your efforts, they seem gleeful to mock everything 🙄
That's not true.
If you read the comments, you'd see some people praising the videos and some other people not liking them.
Old school, but cozy. Reminds me of my parents place.
I haven't seen a laundry room until visiting this apartment also. Even for the bathrooms to have urinals.
@TravellingwithRussell I never seen urinals too.
@TravellingwithRussell laundry is good to have really.
VERY VERY RICH RUSSIANS! Doctors, Lawyers, Surgeons, CFO, CEO, Pilots, University Professor and ANY OTHER RESPECTABLE JOB could not afford this aartment.
Thank you for the video. I think the furnitures were nice.
That’s a beautiful apt. 400,000 Rubles is not bad for something that nice in Moscow.
Seems like old Russia style mixed with some newer Russian style..... Was expecting something top of the line new features since the building doesn't look that old 🤔
Nice!
Thanks. )
Wonderful presentation, food for thought. However your mention of Red Square made me think, What residential buildings would present the best viewing of the May Day, or Victory Day Parade? As to the second thumbs up: 👍.
You can not see into Red Square for the parade. So much of the area is closed off ahead of time. The four season hotel, you might see something.
Hi Russell. Love your channel. Question - is housekeeping included in the houses? I am amazed that the apartments are so clean and no clutter.
Well in Australia only rich rich people can afford that too.
Есть и покруче недвижка. В том числе внутри МКАД. Эти не очень выглядят снаружи
This is such a nice russian place....looks like a mini castle....mini 'Kremlin'
actually i found out yesterday, there was 12 mini buildings representing each month of the year.
We keep freezers out there.😊 I rent based on my retirement it's 33% add to that my utility payment and it's $450 per month.🎉
интерьер квартиры несовременный (армянский/цыганский и тд), такое в моде только у чинуш приворовывающих из бюджета и считающих себя князьями))
In the United States, we also call the primary bedroom the Master bedroom.
The same in Australia, well i hope they still do.
What does it really matter which word you use in USA, you are watching a channel about life elsewhere.
Obviously very few people could afford to rent a place like that, no matter what country you are from. Money aside, the furnishings are not really to my taste but I guess there are those who would like it. My question is mundane but important - how is the quality of the drinking water and the efficiency of the sewage service?
I agree with you about the furniture!
I enjoy these videos and seeing how things are different. USA has too many tvs and computers especially in kids rooms. They become babysitters 😣
I can only assume the owner is a fan of Disney’s ‘Beauty and the Beast’ 😂
based on the red rooms. ))
Ужасно. Полнейшая безвкусица и цыганщина. Ничего особо "элитного" здесь не наблюдается.
В Эрмитаже и других дворцах куда более вычурная "цыганщина".
It's awful, isn't it lol

That small office you showed in the very beginning, wasn't that a sixth room? Or does the kitchen not count as a room?
Ive been to Moscow and St Petersburg. And i loved it. I want to go back to Russia this summer.
That's great you've been to Moscow and ste Petersburg !
I've only been to Novosibirsk
@capitainebonhomme1609 id like to visit there some time
Very ornate and old style furnishings in the apartment? Does an older granny live there?
It was always a rental. So it was down to the original owner and what they picked at the time.
УЖАСНАЯ МЕБЕЛЬ!НА ЭЛИТНУЮ НЕ ТЯНЕТ!
I want to live here!
It as a nice area. Very quiet too.
Very nice apartment!
Tacky
I thought the layout was kind of odd, and I didn’t care for the ornate furniture.
Excellent tour as usual Russell, that looks like the apartment that "Non Woke Bloke" was renting in Russia. Nice apartment.
Very expensive and Not my favorite. It’s nice to see the variety though. Thanks!
Particularly as that is what was requested.
If this is considered 'elite', this is not good for a country that is trying to boost its demographics. This is just an average size for an average family. But in gerneral there should be far more emphasis on single family houses than on apartments in multi-story buildings. In summary that would be my main observation.
It's considered elite not bcs of its size, but bcs of other things.
lol. lmao
Nice very nice 👌 👍
👌
Is it harder to find unfurnished apartments? The furniture in these are a bit too luxurious for me and I wonder how I would feel having such rich furniture in my place! I would feel like I can’t get comfortable as I would mess things up.
It is possible to find it, but it's not that popular. The most popular ones would be "walk in and live" apartments, with everything included.
Is a renter allowed to move the furniture around?
They can. Actually in one of the bedrooms an extra bed as add so the kids could share one of the rooms together.
@ thank you for your reply and keep the videos coming I really enjoy them
Если честно то квартира скучно сделана.Как то не понятен стиль кто дизайн интерьера делал. Предыдущая квартира очень неплохо смотрелась.
Никто не дизайнер , очевидно😂
If the crime rate is so low, why are there so many gated communities?
где ты видел закрытые посёлки?🤷♂🤷♂🤦♂🤦♂
People like privacy. It's the same the world over.
@@АНДРЕЙ3500Russell said it was a gated community
Because the average person makes 300 Rubles an hour and these people are paying 400,000 Rubles per month.
The biggest apartment you've showed on this channel.
It really is, by a long way.
Interesting, thanks! How many apartment classification levels are there?
Определённого числа Вам никто не назовёт, всё индивидуально, но россияне смогут относительно понятно объяснить друг-другу примерный уровень жилья, однако чтобы это понять надо знать многие российские реалии.
Economic, Comfort, Business, Elite and one more I don't remember at 1am as i type this.
Do most people in Russia live in apartments instead of houses? It seems that way. Is that cultural?
В городах живет более 75% граждан России. Практически всё городское жильё - это квартиры.
Something in between for me say 50 - 60 sqm but it must have a separate storage room as well as the normal rooms.
I haven't had a dryer in more than 30 years !
Not everyone has a place for a separate dryer or feels a need of owning one. It's more popular to buy a laundry machine with an integrated dryer.
I personally won't use a public laundry machine, I find it disgusting, sorry 😊.
@@_V_G I prefer a private one too, but it's at least better than no dryer at all. Can't imagine life without a dryer 😄
@@capitainebonhomme1609 Wow.. i'd be lost without one.
