I don't know if I've ever heard their snares tuned so nicely lol. It's still articulate as fuck but there's so much ring and overtone it's beautiful lol.
Finally they posted it lol everyone's already seen it by now... Also all hail the mighty Blue Devils snare I and e legacy started by Keelan and Kaito and now being carried on by Brandon
@@renzmarion1781 thats the first vid i watch... i've been watching every brandon video on youtube tonight haha, just found him. fun fact, the viral video of him at age 12 that has like 4 million views, was sampled in a Death Grips song from their album Ex-military

I just had my first snare solo today and it went bad so I came here to feel better seeing the 2018 center snare for blue Devils do the exact same thing when he was my age
He really only dropped one stick because when he missed his stick bag he wasn't even playing or doing any stick tricks, he was probably just nervous and shaky.
Yes, but if you miss a question on the ACT, they're not gonna be like: "well, he was probably really nervous and probably didn't realize he put down the wrong answer." NO, they're going to mark it wrong because it's wrong. Any mental errors one makes while being judged are considered on purpose, since part of the reason for being judged is to see how well one can do under pressure. So, to respond to your statement, no, he really dropped two sticks.
Best of luck dude! Every piece can be broken down and figured out, eventually. You got this. Your comment made me think of something though: So I've never actually known; do they write the sheet music for these I&E solos always? I know it becomes available either from the source or transcribed by some talented ears, but I mean being a solo there can be quiet a bit of liberty if you just remember to hit all your best parts, right? Idk, I've just always wondered about the level of improvisation that may go on in these solo performances beyond adjusting for mistakes like stick drops. I never made it to that level so I just don't know. Cheers to anyone who can answer me!
And you don't have a clue what you're talking about. People can give advice to anyone. No matter what skill. Like here is some advice to Brandon: if you can't do the visual 100% of the time, don't do it. Cause you'll drop your stick
Kylorfo although I love Brandon, I think what you said is Bullshit. Critics don't always have the same ability as the performers but can still judge based off of their own knowledge and experience
Lucky he didnt drop the stick the third time, otherwise he would of been backed up to P2 and not P1 for 3 months. Then he would have to challenge the leader to earn his P1 back.
xD, I said he is good, he is amazing, he is gifted, but sometimes people really over react, i look up to him as an idol, i was just saying that he isn't the best, no reason to get saltier than oceans surrounding us,.
Brandon is great player. Compositionally I don't understand the switch to the rubber tips? Didn't make much of a difference and the vocabulary was more or less similar after the switch. If there is a change in color, that usually merits a change in character. But great execution, other than the drops ;)
How did they manage to get such a clean recording? You can’t see any close mics in the wide shot, and there’s no ambient noise or ANYTHING. The reverb even sounds like it was put in in post... How was this recorded??!!??!!
Dude wtf is your problem i am pretty sure he has a better drum than you and how is that drum high it's literally so low that if he moved in alittle his dick would be touching it
I prefer my traditional snare & I use matched grip because fewer muscles are involved. The mixed grip was intended for the old school SLANTED marching drum .
+Dylan Catlin Thanks for the info. I'm gonna try that tuning on my snare. But you're right about recording it with a mic. You can do wonders to drums in the editing process.
I don't know if I've ever heard their snares tuned so nicely lol. It's still articulate as fuck but there's so much ring and overtone it's beautiful lol.
Alex Frank watch the blue knights

is this the same kid that learned all the breaks from the internet and got put on CNN or something?
It sure is
Yuh
Yes
Amazing recovery from two dropped sticks!

+ThyMAB it started way before them also tho
"Everything changed when Bryce Gardner attacked."
The camera isn't even fast enough to catch how fast the sticks are.
popeye sailor it’s in 24 FPS, if it was 60 or 120 FPS it would catch the sticks.
watch the other vid of this. its 60 fps
the channel called "ThatWasLoud"

Phenomenal job, Brandon. Props to your talent, and those shots. Omg I lost my sh** when i heard that first shot. Keep up the good work.
You dont need sticks with that skill.
That doesn't make sense
You don't need hands with that skill

his chops are just unbelievable and what i found very impressive was his recovery. dropped two sticks and carried on like nothing happened.
I'm starting to think that these stick drops are intentional.
Tactical stick drops?
Sticks were too inferior to his skills.
I don't really stick trick so I'd drop every one of those sticks like thirty seconds into the solo
I'm so happy that our highschool bought the system blue drums this year. Thanks to Will Gordillo for being a great instructor
That was amazing keep up the good work guys!!

John Miller This is a snare solo not a high school test
Danny Hammond way to get the metaphor, you must be Einstein...
I got the metaphor, but it wasn't a good one.
Danny Hammond the metaphor fit for the situation, but I'm interested in hearing why you think it wasn't. So, please enlighten me.
This solo is INSANELY hard. I just got the music, and oh boy is it going to take some practice.
I don't even wanna look

where did you find the sheet music
All these people telling a world class percussionist how to play should shut up. Until you are better you can't say shit.
+Kylorfo113 Well... I do agree with you but just because someone isn't as good doesn't mean they can't give advice on how to get better

Kylorfo I AM better, Try to make a better argument next time :)
Who else is watching this for the 679th time and ready for the battle between Bryce Gardner and Brandon in 2018?
oooohhh yeah
Neither played a solo I'm dissapointed
2019?
I’ve beaten Bryce in a solo competition but could NEVER touch Brandon. He’s on a different level. The two aren’t comparable really.
Trent Curry have you marched anywhere before?
Brandon freakin beast

his left shots are absolutely incredible. takes me a few tries to even get a pinch out of one 😩
I’m convinced the first minute of his solo went exactly as planned
I have no clue how to get my left hand even close to this good
MAESTRO, your work is amazing!!!!!! I just started practicing with STICK CONTROL by George L. Stone. Much love from Milano!
nice 💪
kickass man!! killed it!
It’s hard to beat a perfectly tuned pearl drum. Also, yeah Brandon is a god
I should learn how to tune my snare to sound like that...
Like playing on a sheet of plywood? Flat, no resonance, no tone. Exactly like plywood!
@@kenprice1961 yes precisely. Like plywood.
Amazing 👌🏻
Can we give props to the snare? It sounds fantastic.
It's hard to be better than Brandon

The hands of his himself
Looks like there's 22 people who viewed this that are BETTER drummers than he. This based on the number of dislikes.
the pinky
+Freddy Alamillo Bruuuuuh I was waiting for this comment because that pinky was just screaming HI GUYS XD
Freddy Alamillo that and the middle finger on the left hand. It should always be on and over the stick. He has mad chops though
*ITS THE EMOTE FROM FORTNITE!!*
Oh shit ive seen this guy isnt he like the youngest blue devil ever despite some sort of disease that makes it very difficult
so fã
Might as well play on a damn table with how high that snare is, geez can I go back in time where a snare actually sounded like something
Dude wtf is your problem i am pretty sure he has a better drum than you and how is that drum high it's literally so low that if he moved in alittle his dick would be touching it
And I can hear the snare very clearly you need hearing aids

Very cool
Amazing!. I wish I would have applied myself better...lol.
Why it looks like he's 11
wow he really did git gud
Chops sir chops
What snare drum and snare head is that?
Does anyone know if you can buy this sheet music

Wat stick do u use

Very talented for such a young age but what's up with his chest?? Am I missing something and I am NOT trying to be disrespectful.
+apiece ofdirt Looks artificial. Probably part of the bib.
He does have scoliosis. But he's only in high school yet apart of the #1 drumline in America.
I think it's extra room so when they were their harness under
I see that pinkie in your right hand
I did this at band practice and I had got laughed at because they saw this video😹😹😹
You played this solo?
+Angus Hsieh yea some of it was hard to learn
make a video of u playing it
is he center?
Nope. Not even close
Josh Kruger that's kinda dumb
Did he get girls clothes or something? Why is the chest thingy sticking out?
Ok dude just shut the fuck up why don't you
He has scoliosis and his spine curves that’s why
music?
Gavin Goodall lol
I hope this is a joke
what sticks are those pls help
+Repocz Promark DC-17's Scott Johnson
Actually promark dc50's I believe
Joey marchese b Corps uses the 50s
A corps uses the 17s
3:27 keep pinky on stick ;)
Good observation. If you watch Keelan Tobia and Bryce Gardner's solos, they NEVER take their pinkies off the stick.
Who else watching this after it came into fortnite?
me next
???
Keep that pinkie on the stick boy
I'd like to see scores results after these player perform without and wearing the drums see how much more difficult it would be for these tricks.
why is his shoulders so tense
He has a back problem so that's probably why.
He has Scoliosis i believe
Kenn its the way he looks when he plays due to his serious back problems
3:25 PINKIES xD
Brando Olondo
Drum sounds amazing! Does anyone know how they tune those snares?
+Dylan Catlin Thanks for the info. I'm gonna try that tuning on my snare. But you're right about recording it with a mic. You can do wonders to drums in the editing process.
Blue devils and blue stars always have amazing sound quality in their snare tuning
he droped the sticks on purpose
What's up with this guy's body
It doesn't sound to good to me but it is very unique indeed
I could do that, easy. (Only joking)
Why do corps style drummers have their drums on stands instead on carrying them like the black guys
"like the black guys" lol ok
+Holley Waters I'm just wondering
for presentation purposes
War sticks promark marching
but me a drum
The pinky finger..
It's really not that big of a deal... Because his pinky goes out sometimes doesn't make him a bad player
sorry pinkies are just my biggest pet peeve haha. I know he's really good and I respect that
You literally HAVE to do that to play rolls that fast haha.
Nothing is wrong with the pinky finger coming off. Literally like the biggest myth. It's absolutely normal.
they probably could only do 1 take because theyre in a public place
or because its a judged performance
There is always an Asian the will beat him, and the Asian is 12
Hold the phone...what the crap!
whats with the shitty framerate
fortnite
It's too bad snare drums sound like they're playing on a sheet of plywood. No depth, no resonance, no tone, just a flat wood sound.
