    You're a man after my own heart! I would love to fish with you one of these days. I've got all the trout arsenal just like you! I love my Daiwa Presso, Tenryu Rays Spectra, and Yamaga Lupus trout rods.

    The JDM gear is better because they take pride in their work, the attention to detail is unmatched. They dont stop at good enough, they make stuff super good enough…

    I use the Vanford 2000S that I was able to upgrade to 14 bearings--2 extra in the line roller and oscillating paw- and the 5 as shown by West Coast Florida Fishing in his fine video. The Stradic FL 1000 can be converted the same way although at 185g it is a bit heavier and more start up inertia. The Stradic is still the finest reel for the money, Malaysian or not.

    Just a possible answer to your stocking issue, here in NC the largest hatchery flooded and lost 2/3rds of the trout. They've been getting trout from "various sources" to stock and even then the small ponds aren't getting stockings with less large fish (14"+) in the areas that are getting stocked.

    Awesome video as always Randy! I wanted to thank you again for introducing me into HIGH QUALITY and super shark hooks like those on the Daiwa Gekkabijin jig heads. They're flat out amazing and I'm glad I stocked up on them! I just wish I could find more! I got tired of losing so many fish through the years with these cheap and dull hooks.

    Would you recommend the Varivas infinity braid for creek/ river fishing? I noticed it says it’s for area trout but I wanted a premium JDM braid for river and creeks
    Also what reel are you using with that rod

    • @troutmagnetman
      @troutmagnetman  6 місяців тому

      Yes I would recommend it. The rod is a TenRyu Rayz Spectra Stream Trout Rod.

    Wondering if any big browns are at tims ford right now

    • @troutmagnetman
      @troutmagnetman  3 роки тому +1

      Oh I am sure......but the really big browns are up in the Caney. I have a friend who regularly catches double digit size browns there.

    The stradic 1000 FL can also be had for $150....very difficult to beat. The Chinese Kuying TSS662LS, or TSS602LS are great low cost alternatives ( less than a $100). I still like My Eradicator better--which is Chinese.

    I kinda hear ya Randy. It's fun to fish with decent equipment. But $60 for 75 meters (80 yards) of line? I'll have to stick with Spiderwire Ultracast x8 4 lb. 300 meters (328 yards) for $37 and I think that's a bit overboard. My experience with PE lines from Varivas is that they like to jump off the reel. Very finicky. I have way less experience than you do based on all I've learned in your videos so maybe I just don't have the skill to respect the difference in performance and the cost of that difference.
    Anyway, love your videos and especially the format (conversation up front, action later). Always thought provoking.

      Thanks for watching. The Infinity PE is expensive no doubt. But I am hooked on it now.

    Just pointed a guy on a NJ fishing forum your direction, after he asked me about my JDM gear. I gave him the basics but better to have him learn from the master. Tight Lines! PS - Is there a sub $200 stream rod you'd recommend? I tend to use my area rods where they shouldn't be used.

      Thanks for the kind words. Strange you ask this now……I just ordered a new Major Craft FSX 5’ 1” stream rod. I needed..or I should say wanted…a short stream rod and did not want to pay TenRyu prices. I have never been disappointed in Major Craft rods so thought I would give it a try. Will report on it as soon as I get it.

      @@troutmagnetman perfect as most of my better rods are Major Craft. They always seem to be a good value.

    How do you like the tenryu spectre 6’1? How’s the sensitivity and would you recommend it?

    • @troutmagnetman
      @troutmagnetman  6 місяців тому

      I highly recommend it. It is not a highly sensitive rod...not designed for that. It is designed to fish hard baits for trout.

      @@troutmagnetmanthank you! What reel do you recommend for it

    • @troutmagnetman
      @troutmagnetman  6 місяців тому

      @skj468 depends on your budget. A Vanquish……or a Vanford for less money. Just depends on what you want to spend.

      I dabbled with it a little back in TN. But now that I am on a major trout river in Arkansas I may get into it.
