you all prolly dont give a damn but does any of you know of a trick to get back into an instagram account? I was dumb lost my account password. I appreciate any assistance you can offer me.
@Ronin Graysen I really appreciate your reply. I found the site through google and I'm in the hacking process now. Takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Thanks for your videos, a friend is starting a wheel of time 3.0 campaign. I've never played 3.0 and I've never read a book so your videos are a godsend.
Dude I remember the description of the ogier fighting in the last battle as fucking terrifying, bunch of giants swinging down axes and the still giant but slightly less so women stabbing whatever wasn’t chopped to death. They’re described as chopping trollocs down like firewood, that’s terrifying no matter what side you’re on
Just wanted to let you know that I've enjoyed your videos! don't know why but the beginning graphics make me smile. thanks for your "what happens after the story" segment. keep it up.
Interesting video. I`ve read the books several times over the years, and have always wondered where the ogiers fit in. Have never crossed my mind that they probably came from another world. Now it`s just obvious.
FAN THEORY my theory about what happens with the Ogier after the defeat of the shadow is that almost all leave using the book. Some, the Gardners and Loial&his wife maybe, stay behind. They become mythical storys so that there is always memory of them for when they return for the 2nd&3rd eras.
Interesting. I’ve always thought the stories take place in the future. Because the age of legends sounds more like our time or in the future from our time.
They happen in our future and have happened in our past, there are no endings to the wheel of time, what was will be again and even myth will be long forgotten when the age that gave it birth comes again.
I have watched a couple of your videos now and yes you make a lot of very interesting points very good job. However I have always thought that the reading of The Wheel of Time is you are reading the historical Chronicles of the last battle as therefore written by loyal. After the last battle royal at access to everyone except for ran to be able to find out all the information that he did not have so it is a very good conclusion is The Wheel of Time is the story that loyal wrote
Right you are brother and that might be a good way to tell the story but Loyal has always been a party member telling as he wrote, but I think we have to tell the story in the right way as Robert Jordan intended and not from Loyals point of view, but in the readers point of view... you know what I mean?
I’ve been waiting for a channel like this for the past year but I’m only on book 10 and almost all these videos have spoilers so I can’t watch anything. Big sad. But you’re super constructive and coherent in your analysis and please keep going. Please do one on Manetheran, Tinkers, Aiel, Sea Folk, Age of Legend, and Arad Domani. I never want to go back and find specific chapters where info was provided that I didn’t understand without context but these videos are perfect.
Enjoy the vids. Good thoughts and well written script. I don't know if the intro where you list the sections is necessary. I feel like the pacing is really good once you get started, but that doesn't really add much and slows down the beginning. Just my two cents.
Okay, totally out there theory, but at the end of the vid when you say “the Ogier aren’t known in our time but will return before the next Age of Legends” (paraphrasing)...hmm, what about Sasquatch? Perhaps they are a remnant or small pockets of Ogier, the reason we rarely encounter them is they typically stick to their Steddings. And certainly they seem to be more inclined for the natural world, etc. Most of what you describe could fit their reported characteristics, apart from the eyebrows maybe, with a sleight stretch of the imagination...and I cant believe I just seriously tried to justify the lack of familiarity with a fictional book species with a mythological cryptid. LOL, shows how much these books come to be reality after one immerses oneself into them! :-)
Hey what's up, brother you know I'm in the middle of the Shadow Rising, and I can't help but appreciate the Wheel of Time and the story it's just so great... and yeah it's about 7am and I've been staying up way too late, but there's no way I'm going to stop now at least not till the next chapter. LOL LOL
Yeah so if you got something to say bro, just say it I'm pretty much an expert on the Wheel of Time and all that entails so if you have questions ask me
Lordof Thegame what book are you on now? I’m just finishing EotW and about to move onto Shadow Rising ☺️ I’ve read the series before, just diving into it again with Audible tho...
Great video, but oddly, the most fascinating thing was the map of the world from the AoL. I've never seen that one before. Would you do a video on the Second Age and is there a corresponding map for the Western hemisphere?
Robert Weston Is that Map actually Canon or just something someone put together on their own, i have never seen it before, i suspect its not Canon or it would have been in the WOT companion book.
Question: did I misunderstand how tall and large Ogier were in the book? Because when I saw loial in the show, I was shook with how small and poorly then portrayed him. It was like they just took a slightly large person and barely changed his face? So, was I wrong? Was the show accurate?
He's very different in the show. Only Loial's voice really fit in with the books Think I saw somewhere it was a budget issue, it would have just drained to much of the shows budget to have a recurring character that took so much cgi
@@CharlieJ69 gosh, didn't it have a hundred million dollar budget? Seems like they could have done some forced perspective stuff (ala LotR) to get the effect without the budget. They didn't even try... they had a scene where Rand stood right next to him... at least do cut takes where every time rand talks he's looking up and Loial can be looking down at his talking points. This show really did some "odd" stuff for budgetary reasons
Never speak of the show. It is cursed. But seriously, the show took way too many liberties and it actually veered away from the plot of the books with Matt’s storyline.
😲Forking sweet! Thanks, I badly need a new copy of EotW buuuuut not sure how to message on here, and FAQ help section says: "As of July 9, 2018, the ability to send, receive, or read private messages in Creator Studio is no longer available." 😕 I've got a secondary spammy email Id be okay posting on here. Btw you pronounced my name just right too... And nobody ever gets it right. 😆 Sooo, I hate to be "that guy" (especially now, haha) but the saying on your wall is worded just a little wrong. It's ment to be more ambiguous. Instead of "is to" I think it's just "and" since the 3rd age interpretation is used like you're comparing the difficulty of angering the Ogier and pulling a mountain down on your head as equally impossible. It's not until the last battle that Perrin(right?) considers the original meaning as he expressed it in the books. I found them an interesting "species" kept vague and mysterious as the story focuses on humans. Also reflected in Perrin's personality, it's more common that someone will be a "gentle giant" than not. You're more conscious of your strength, and don't needed to "throw your weight around" like someone who's insecure.
It shows an Ogier Grove, not a steading. The groves were grown in or near the cities where the Ogier did their major construction works. And as Tar Valon was such, hence the grove.
Probably old old opinion, and probably been debunked a thousand times but all throughout the series, I pictured Loial as Robert Jordan's in series character.
I've never been a huge fan of the Ogier as a group or Loial as an individual. Loial is a nice guy, he is literally loyalty itself, but he isn't particularly dynamic or nuanced from what I recall of his story. Maybe your in-depth character analysis will help me revise my view of Loial? I just remember him as the exposition guy and loyal friend to Rand and the other boys. The other Ogier just struck me as another one of Robert Jordan's attempts to take an existing trope and subvert it. The Ogier are obviously based on ogres and similar creatures from typical fantasy, and it's significant that other than Shadowspawn and the Nym, they are pretty much the only intelligent nonhumans in the world. Of course there are the Aelfinn and the Eelfinn, but they exist in other planes. Turning the powerfully-built giants into a race of librarians and artisans was kind of a cool idea, but it just didn't sustain my interest over the course of the entire series.
Think the ogiers are quite an intresting race but they are kept in abit of a mystery, but any information on them in the books I sucked up instantly. And Loial to me atleast has an intresting personality type.
Siansonea Orande there’s also the Gardner’s so Ogier are not always passive creatures. The Gardeners are a pretty scary foe. Even the ones who stayed in the steading turned out to be quite fierce in defense of the light.
Siansonea Orande dude loial is hella badass just remember the attack on the two rivers, he and gaul go off by themselves fighting through an army of trollocs to close the waygate, and after they succeed he carries Gaul back.
I’d just like to add that the Ogier aren’t a subversion of Ogres. In almost every history of Ogres, you’ll find they are the most ancient of races, usually the pet project of the most powerful god of good, and are master craftsmen. Before the rise of even elves, the Ogre races were corrupted and bent, as a people, towards evil.
Average Awesome man, that was awesome! I almost forgot about that too! I’m reading the books again and am just finishing up EotW. I can’t wait to see Loial kick ass action!
Loial stopped the kiss between Rand and Lanfear, so probably saved the world

TheTiDman it literally says it in the books. Loial speaks before the Ogier council and convinces them not to use the book of translation
I've always wanted to see their original world
I know I'm late to the party here, but you definitely missed the attraction to female Ogier ears. ;-)
