I recently got the rogue cut and it’s unbelievable how the sentinels in the movie took aspects from different generations and models of sentinels and made them nightmarish
The ones we see in 1973 are referred to in viral marketing as the Mark 1 Sentinels and these are the Mark X ones in 2023. So that implies for 40 years there were eight other models, we never saw. Given there was a more comic like one in X3, were there a time, they were more like the comic version. Cause the mark 1 and mark x versions have similar head shapes.
So Future Sentinels are made based on DNA or the power of: - Rogue (Can absorb and keep power,But not making weak when touch the Sentinel) - Darwin (Can adapt any situation) - Mystique (Shapeshifting)

Went into the movie theater without knowing much abt the Sentinels & was genuinely terrified by the way they overpowered the mutants. But, this movie shattered the myth in the very beginning & made me genuinely worry abt the Mutants & how the movie completely hooks you in. Probably, the best movie of the X-men series after Logan.
That might’ve also had to do with casting. Oscar Isaac at 5’6 just doesn’t have that intimidating presence. Also, I saw the concept art for Apocalypse and it was scary. They chose poorly.

One of the best opening scenes of any movie. Incredibly effective and brutal killing machines with but one goal. The sentinel ripped off colossus’s arm and then crushed his skull with a single strike. Snapped bobbies head off and crushed it beneath its heel. No ducks given.
I can’t believe this movie is ten years old. Just as amazing as I remembered it, probably the best X-Men movie along with Logan and one of the best superhero movies, period! I like how the Sentinels have basically evolved to the point where they can adapt to and defeat ANY mutant. Very threatening in this.
The X Men trained to fight the sentinels too, krazy how they changed so much and became straight up monsters and murderers... This scene along with when Jean Grey voids Professor X out of existence are two of the most scariest scenes ever...
Among all of their deaths I think Colossus' was the one that terrified me the most, arm ripped off and head caved in just...DAMN! Captures perfectly how much of a threat these sentinels are, has to be one of the most thrilling and terrifying intros to a superhero movie made.
I still remember when I saw this movie as a teenager, firstly seeing the sentinels being beat up and thinking "Yeah again dumb robots suck". Then soon enough being shocked by how easily every mutants were defeated.
She can do it but only in theory, once the Sentinels get hit by it they will already adapt to them simply by dodging the portals or using them to their advantage. You will only catch them by surprise once, as it was shown with Colossus at 1:32 and Blink&Warpath at 1:43. If you fail to kill them in the first shot then you're pretty much dead
Damn, Johnny flew into that portal knowing there's no coming back. Honestly, they all fought like warriors in the face of death. Most badass superhero movie scene
The way that one sentinel chromed tf up was horrifying. I’ve never felt so helpless in a superhero movie. It’s like Halo: Reach to me, we had been so accustomed to nigh invincible heroes and winning even against odds. And then comes a force that you just cannot win against. The Sentinels were literally unbeatable. A force so overwhelming you can only run and try to make sure they are never made in the first place. It’s gripping, and sorrowful partly because it is just so real. Sometimes the ‘good’ guys do not succeed. In reality justice is often not served. We look to media for an escape from this reality, but when confronted with it the story becomes all the more intimate to our human nature.
I 💯% agree with you. There was too much more to be covered for it to only be one movie. I also think they should've spent a little more time in the future too.
It would have been interesting to see the world of the 2023 old timeline. See the worst of humanity who's in charge and maybe more details of how the sentinels were justified. Also how much power does Trask Industries have. Cause theres concept for trask Industries soldiers and the viral marketing mentions them buying the Xavier mansion after the events of the last stand.
I've always wondered why that one sentinel was able to stab Blink. She seems to make portals that "one directional" like the first one she made yet that one portal seemed to end at the same side no matter what side you entered from. I also just realized Blink could have sent Kitty to that safe from the beginning but that's just for the plot I guess
I think the gate might have been protected from that because if the sentinels copied the powers of Blink, Nightcrawler or Azazel then they would have instantly won
Truly, one of the best villains ever produced in a movie series - there is a feeling of terror and hopelessness. I really wish they create a longer movie out of this - like a X-Men: The End series (the name is drawing inspiration from the comics :))
Man these guys are terrifying They easily overpower the mutants, murder them like nothing, and have that constant look of pure hatred on their eyes. Like dang they might be the most terrifying villains in a comic book movie
I found it interesting how the Sentinels were very efficient in neutralizing the X-Men. Straight for their heads = instant kill, rather than going for other parts of their bodies.

The sentinels in this film are the first time they felt menacing. Everything from their visual design, to the way they move, to the abilities they have, everything is so perfectly captured as an enemy that beats mutants with ease. In the comics or other media they are still humanish looking, even if they’re obviously robots. But here they shed their cartoony appearance and have such an inhuman form.
DoFP is one of the greatest storylines in comics. Claremont deserves more recognition as an author for writing it, despite the fact it's "only" a comic book. This is a pretty good adaptation, and I hope it introduces more people to the source material.
Besides their designs, Sentinels were so well done. Warner Bros needs to learn from Fox/Disney/Marvel how to make tense villain moments. Doomsday, Zod and Darkseid just never felt like they had any impact or hopelessness in their showdowns.
They just need to hire better directors and writers. I will never understand how they looked at Snyder, who had 5 movies up to that point, only 2 were actually good and one was fun, and said 'we are going to put him in charge of our superhero universe'. Doomsday should be so easy to do it with, he has a lot of what makes the Sentinels scary. Even Smallville made Doomsday actually scary, and their budget was peanuts.
Lmao your comment made me laugh. this is one of the v few well done villains scenes from fox, do you want them to learn from the dark Phoenix Sega or the apocalypse sega? And marvel's famous for not having good villains, they have like 3 good villains out of 30+ movies, not exactly learning material. Darkseid defo had the hopelessness factor when he was on screen, we just didn't get to see his full potential due to lack of screen time.
@@masterdon187 I never said a single thing about Fox, not one word. I talked about the sentinels specifically, although Magneto is usually handled well, he's an antihero more than anything. For scary villains, Fox ONLY has the sentinels. I say Marvel has probably had 5 good villains, like 7 movies between them. And again, the only specific property I called out was Smallville, which was usually pretty bad, and even THEY made Doomsday scary. My point was that you could take almost ANY director, give them Doomsday or Darkseid and have the result be intimidating. My point was just that Snyder is actually worse than being completely average.

I remember when I first saw this movie and I was terrified (but also amazed) by these Sentinels.
They are ruthless and relentless + also adaptive. 😱
Like human
One of the best opening scenes of any movie. Incredibly effective and brutal killing machines with but one goal. The sentinel ripped off colossus’s arm and then crushed his skull with a single strike. Snapped bobbies head off and crushed it beneath its heel. No ducks given.
I can’t believe this movie is ten years old. Just as amazing as I remembered it, probably the best X-Men movie along with Logan and one of the best superhero movies, period!
I like how the Sentinels have basically evolved to the point where they can adapt to and defeat ANY mutant. Very threatening in this.
one of the best opening sequences in superhero film.
Male characters death always more explicit, brutal, longer suffering and, gruesome
En mi opinión este es uno de los inicios más fuertes en cualquier película de superhéroes. Esta junto a Logan son mis películas favoritas.

3:37 watching this scene again, I wonder if Blink could destroy those Sentinels with her portals. She should be able to cut them in half, at least
I love XMen movies. They look realistic than avengers
10 years since the movie was shown, time went by so fast.
The only villains even starlord’s dance battle scheme won’t work on
Days of Future Past should have been a two parter. Part One is in the future and explains Rogue being involved, how Kitty gets the secondary mutation.

I also just realized Blink could have sent Kitty to that safe from the beginning but that's just for the plot I guess
hmm, ur right
My thought was for Blink to make a portal underneath the sentinels and put them back far away again and again and again....
I think the gate might have been protected from that because if the sentinels copied the powers of Blink, Nightcrawler or Azazel then they would have instantly won
@@hasher22 I think if she tried she wouldn’t be able to and if she succeeded, she would have been drained and the portal would disappear

Truly, one of the best villains ever produced in a movie series - there is a feeling of terror and hopelessness. I really wish they create a longer movie out of this - like a X-Men: The End series (the name is drawing inspiration from the comics :))

Man these guys are terrifying
They easily overpower the mutants, murder them like nothing, and have that constant look of pure hatred on their eyes. Like dang they might be the most terrifying villains in a comic book movie
I found it interesting how the Sentinels were very efficient in neutralizing the X-Men. Straight for their heads = instant kill, rather than going for other parts of their bodies.
This was more of a last stand than X-Men The Last Stand.
I saw this movie when I was 13. These sentinels haunted my dreams. Fucking terrifying. Horror movies have nothing on the future sentinels.
This is by far the best X-men movie, perhaps even the best Marvel movie.
The sense of hopelessness and despair, the feeling of entrapment from sentinel capture and extinction is what made the movie successful.
As soon as we see Storm and Magneto looking scared, we know these are a new type of Sentinels - not like the cartoon portrayals.

Warpath is a 7’2 tall mutant and has heightened senses, agility, super strength, along with wielding two adamantium knives

@@805StrengthLab He did have some super strength like tackling the sentinels but none other than that.
Man , now I want to watch the movie again.
