    Oh man, this is so relaxing to watch - the voice, the music, the footage... 10/10, basically nailed the small scale pvp life with this one :D Subscrizzled - I'm off to watch the rest of "art of poor" vids now

      Hey, thanks for watching. The actual third video is still being made but I did do a third video in the form of a lecture for eve university that includes a lot more concrete info. Shoot me an eve mail in game if you have questions.

    You could almost hear that Apocalypse Pilot thinking "Meh, how would those frigates harm my mighty battleship, YOLO" :-D However watching as his shiny ship gradually is shot into a miserable wreck makes you almost feel sorry for him.... almost!

    John, when i watch your videos i know you are representing the hard core of this community, with a massiv ammount of knowledge. I dont know if you can "imagen" how hard it is for a new player to get ahold of "pvp" in EVE in general.
    I want to do what you do, ill dedicate myself to it, but i need a point to start, theres plenty of information out there, but it comes from all directions, so much at once, that i feel overwhelmed and not able to do anything of it.
    I beg you, give me a video, text .. anything combined with a pvp task, an absolute pvp noob could fullfil if he puts dedication into it, that you would assume be "good" to get into it, so i can advance from a point, because right now im just lost.
    If that really helps me and starts my pvp journey, i will pay you 3% of my monthly eve-income to the day i stop playing

  • @TheMMSpirit
    @TheMMSpirit 8 років тому

    I don't understand why the Jag was orbiting the caracal at 500. For what purpose? To wreck his own tracking? He sure wasn't going to throw off the tracking of the rapid lights aimed at him.

    • @JohnDrees
      @JohnDrees  8 років тому +1

      It's not about out running the missiles it's about your sig radius out running the explosion velocity of the missiles. The reason I orbit at 500 with the jag is that it has about 6 km of dps range, which it is pulled towards by its own momentum when orbiting. If I orbit at say 5km it will be pulled away from the target to something closer to 10km. The jag's weapons itself are the smallest and best tracking Autocannons in the game and they are being fired at a cruiser so range is far more significant than tracking speed in this case.

    • @TheMMSpirit
      @TheMMSpirit 8 років тому

      That's what I was thinking. A wider orbit would increase your tracking, and get your speed up which slips even more of the missile damage. If you can't hold a 3k orbit or so, I suppose you have to aim for 500. Thanks for the explanation.

    I have mixed feelings about this vid: Seeing that Rattlesnake die, made me feel sorry for the owner, since I mostly fly a Rattlesnake myself and getting killed by a swarm of frigs is just insulting... On the other hand - If you're not docked up or hauling ass to the nearest allied POS by the time you even catch a whiff of neuts incoming - you deserve to lose that ship.

    • @JohnDrees
      @JohnDrees  7 років тому

      Frus Languag it depends how the target is fit and how it is flown. The advantage vs other small ships is that it's very likely you could engage another frigate and disengage if you found that you were losing. Especially in nullsec.

    • @fruslanguag5256
      @fruslanguag5256 7 років тому

      John Drees thanks 🙏 quick answer amazing. in terms of orbiting so fast with a small sig does it mess a lot with their tracking speed ? Because of the inertia you rotate further away so I don't know what to think of it about tracking!?

    Using providence is a bad example, it is really not hard to solo any pve ship including battleships. Most provi ships are horribly shitfit anyway so it's naturally easy to do as long as you catch them. Now go to fw and try your jaguar and see how it goes.

    • @JohnDrees
      @JohnDrees  8 років тому

      I plan on going to FW space more often once off grid links are removed from the game. Anyway, I assure you, there are terrible players everywhere and proviblock has as much variety in experience level as anywhere else.

There are other big alliances that have stupid members like Provi bloc why not go after them as well possible better opportunities .

    If a Jaguar is scrammed and webbed by say..a drake and the drake is using Heavy missiles..who will win the fight? I ask because I'm setting up a drake for some pvp and just want to know my limits. I know there was a drake kill in the vid but I didn't seem him fire anything and you weren't scrammed/webbed..just curious. Great vid btw.

    • @JohnDrees
      @JohnDrees  8 років тому

      Warp scramblers don't shut off afterburners and so the only thing slowing down the jaguar is the web, it helps but the main problem with damage application from heavy missiles is related to signature radius which remains low. If you engaged a jaguar with the fit shown with an average heavy missile fit drake you would not deal enough damage to kill it rapidly but you would outlast the jaguar and eventually it would be forced to disengage due to passive regeneration of the drakes shields. If you include a medium energy neut it is possible you could hold it down with the web, but a good jag pilot will still get out because one overheated cycle of oversized prop mod while you're still scrammed moves the jaguar out of Web range.

    • @MTGPlayer10
      @MTGPlayer10 8 років тому

      +John Drees So basically the only real way to spank a jag with a drake is to have a couple of target painters so you can do way more dmg to it?

    • @JohnDrees
      @JohnDrees  8 років тому +2

      +MTGPlayer10 no, you would be better off using rapid light missiles and a second web. Honestly, it's pretty unlikely you're going to run into jags nowadays anyway. Concentrate on how you are gonna kill all those svipuls.

    • @Mic_Glow
      @Mic_Glow 8 років тому

      +MTGPlayer10 you can try using precision heavy missiles and swapping dmg type to whatever the Jag might have lowest (check his killboard), it's usually the 2'nd resist hole since most pilots will plug the 1'st with something. Also try to keep drones alive.. If the frig pilot has a nos and active rep it is gonna be tough if not impossible to kill him, if he's buffor you can do it.
