    I never really noticed this. Probably because I usually have a fleet of murderous Russians hot on my tail when I'm exploring.

    Another thing I noticed is that you can bypass almost all firewalls etc if you travel in straight diagonal lines and create Xs with the path you travel across the nodes. It’s hard to explain but the most of the time the board’s layout hints at the correct path just by the availability of the diagonal node paths that don’t have breaks in them. When you go outside of this pattern, you will run into firewalls much more frequently.

    It bothers me how few people realize you can use the wrenches as soon as you get them to have a huge buffer right away

    Don't use wrench on restoration nodes because it counts as a move.. instead attack the node first then wrench.. You can use the item that half its strength but never pop a wrench.
    It will provide you with an extra move later on

    one other thing I forgot to add. mobile. depots can be quite handy, the astero has a large cargo bay for a frigate and you can afford to keep a mobile depot with you to change to a PvP oriented fit or store your best blue loot and bpc before you try a ghost site then if you die you can at least run out in an interceptor and retrieve your. best loot as mobile depots. can't be killed in one day they get reinforced. I have stoped doing ghost sites though cuz I lost like 3 ships to dumb mistakes. stratios is better to tank the damage. if you happen to fail a hack or drift out of range.

    nice, I've been doing this a while and never noticed that rule of 6 lol... Other variants to using the astero, for very low budget, each faction has a T1 frigate with scanning and hacking bonuses. And beyond that, instead of using an interceptor, covert ops ships is where you'd want to go, they rival the astero in many ways. But the Astero is a very easy ship to get into.

  • @sayodphysulem3300

    Some clarification questions:
    - is the core ~always~ within one jump of a safespot? Or do we just know that if we find anything in a safespot ~then~ it is within one jump?
    - does "find ~anything~ in a safespot" include utility things or mysteries?
    EDIT: and do you have a source for that? Is that proven somewhere or did that just got used by a bunch of people and never seemed to fail?

    • @Eveproguides
      @Eveproguides  8 років тому

      If you ever find something bad (Firewall, Anti-Virus, etc) in a a Safe spot you are one jump from the core.
      Other than that Safe Spot are just Safe Spots that help you clear the board more easily while searching for the Core.

    Just to throw this out there, if you are committed to being a full time explo, you can scan down sites and wormholes with combat scan probes. This adds just another layer of hesitation for anyone thinking of ganking explorers when then see combat probes vs core probes.

    I've been doing null-sec exploration part-time for a few months. Started with Imicus, and considering using a CovOps ship like Helios as opposed to Astero, as it's cheaper and I have the CovOps skill to 4 so I think the scanning bonus is better. Also faster recloak time. Is this a good idea or is there another reason Astero would be the better choice?

    • @Flash-lx2gi
      @Flash-lx2gi 7 років тому

      Yes, Covops frig is slightly better in scanning, but you cannot fight anything you come along. in a astero with the right fit, you can fight any explorer/covops frig easily. provided you have atleast somewhat decent drone skills.

    The lower the null sec, the higher the NPC levels are. IE, if you can handle bots in 0.9 sec, you will be ONE SHOTTED, FASTER THEN THE SERVER CAN HANDLE IT, by bots in negative 1.0 sec space. A helpful tip I wish these guys would just help us out with. Come on. Simple things.

    cool things to know, but i dont think its going to help me. After you do them so much i dont think the rule of 6 is very helpful, seems too slow too. I rush through them like im about to die =P Also, correct me if I'm wrong, (cause i usually am) but using the wrench before doing the resto node that increases the others health is a bad idea cause it gives it one extra tick when you click the wrench? • @thelowmein9143
      @thelowmein9143 7 років тому

    • @inkognitonoori9486
      @inkognitonoori9486 7 років тому

      The sites you get in wh are mostly guarded, so a little frig wont do you any good there. You need at least a stratios to run datasites there. And you are safe in deep nullsec if you aren´t tailed.

    • @redwes99

I use a Buzzard as my exploration ship and I love it, I was just wondering if there was a reason for me to switch to the astero?

    • @AlphaBrolofsky
      @AlphaBrolofsky 5 років тому

      Astero can be a decent little combat frigate with a focus on drones as well as an exploration ship. Covert ops are better scanners/ hackers but your only defence is running away. Astero pilots also quite regularly make money from exploration not by hacking but rather warping in on other explorers, popping them and taking their loot.

    This is not 100% true. I ran into a hack the other day that had a supposed "Safe Spot" and it had a virus suppressor. After killing the supressor I clicked on all 6 nodes around it and the final core hack was not there. One thing I noticed is that the numbers that appear on the nodes not only tell you how far you are from a "Good Thing" or a "Mystery Item" but they can also tell you how far you are from the core as well.

    • @lewong1602
