    ‘The Voice’ is another one that you should show to Ty, along with ‘Hymn’ and ‘Thin Wall’

      Totally what I was also going to suggest. Another favorite of mine which is more peculiar is Visions in Blue. The part that transitions it from a slow hymn-like song to a more dance-oriented tune is amazing (these days in EDM we would call this “the drop”).

    I was just thinking of this song today. It was the first Ultravox song I heard. Definitely the most memorable of their songs.

    I forget how much everything was about nuclear fear back then. I was too young to be super angsty about it. 🤷‍♀️ Also, I used to DREAM about having one of those vinyl boomboxes! They weren’t all that common, but the commercials made me crazy! 😂 I had to save forever for a knock off Walkman, so I was never getting that boombox.

      YEP, The kid with the most Rad boombox was the envy of our entire Jr. High. Mine was only Mid but could still create your first mixtapes by recording songs off the radio 😳🤘🏼

    Great reaction!
    I'm a huge Ultravox fan and especially love the Midge Ute era (so the 80's), this is indeed a good song, but I have to agree it's a bit flat and repetitive. I felt it was much better live in a slightly different mix, as there is a good song hidden there.
    Just from the Vienna album I enjoy tracks like New Europeans (an absolutely awesome song!), Private Lives, Passing Strangers, Sleepwalk, Vienna and All Stood Still more. Quartet album is also great with lit of good ones..Hymn is a really bombastic song too!
    But I can also really recommend Visage - Fade to Grey, one of my top 5 songs all-time.

    The song does suffer from production issues. keyboard and violin player Billy Currie played violin on Gary Numan's The Pleasure Principal album and was a member of the band Visage

    • @jeffcappelletti1986
      @jeffcappelletti1986 Рік тому +1

      That is their most well known song. Fade To gray, or Pleasure Boys. Pleasure Boys is more upbeat. Love Glove is another known song. The only versions of Pleasure Boys and Love Glove i have heard are the Razormaid mixes of those songs. Fade To Grey would be a good song to do or Pleasure Boys

      I would agree with that, it’s quite tinny sounding. Anything from the album Quartet, which was famously produced by George Martin,is way better.

    As other posters have already said "The Voice" is their best song, and it has stood the test of time, at least for me, much better than their other stuff. Though someone pointed out "Lament" which also still sounds good to me. Their more popular songs in the early 80s when I was clubbing, like Sleepwalk, All Stood Still, and Dancing With Tears..... were all sort of light weight dance pop, and have not held up as well. But like I said, The Voice is the class of this field hands down.

    sorry, i disagree. i can still listen to DWTIME and still be moved by it's lyrics and melody. it's "vienna" that i find dated and less interesting. the subject matter of DWTIME still exists and horrifies me.
    you should try "one small day" next, it's one of my favs by ultravox, though i fear you might find that catchy but "dated" too. also love the album's title song, "lament", which all 3 of these songs actually are.
    love midge and the boys ❤

    Kinda cheesy and a bit repetitive (IMHO), but I actually still enjoy it despite that! 😆 I prefer their darker sound on Rage In Eden though. Great album. Vienna is a good album too! Looking forward to more Ultravox reactions.
