You explained it so clearly...My Dad tried to teach me to shoot and he kept using terminology I didn't know much about, so I appreciate you for not confusing me!! You cleared a lot of it up for me
Awesome. Thank you so much! Like I said in the video, terminology is the most important thing in learning ANY new skill. If you can't understand the language and the jargon, any new skill is going to be confusing. Once you and your teacher are on the same page with the terms and words being used, learning gets far easier. I'm so glad this helped you!

I’m a chick and have been shooting/handling guns for over 30 years. Shooting is a skill and can be learned just like any other skill. At first guns are intimidating and scary. Later when you know what you’re doing, and you will, you have respect for them. I’m a better shot than my husband, who’s been handling guns longer than 30 years. The first time I held a gun, the fact that handguns were developed (aside from hunting) to kill another human being was very sobering. Then, okay, what’s next? I learned to shoot, reload, rack the gun, clean them, etc. I shoot revolvers, semiautomatic handguns, rifles and shotguns. Ignore the idiots who make fun of you or put you down. They weren’t born knowing how to shoot just like nobody’s born knowing how to drive. Kudos to you for wanting to learn.
Hell, I’m a 46 year-old only child dude, raised by a single mother with little to no male role model influence when I was growing up. So by the time I was old enough to consider myself an adult, I was so wet behind the ears that I was way too embarrassed or shy to ask almost anyone that was older than me about anything related to the common or technical knowledge of guns or work tools for auto mechanic or various construction fields. I’ve only recently as of the last 10 years or so, started really soaking up as much information for these sorts of things as I can, thanks to the Internet. Rock on!
I’m new to guns entirely and want to educate myself at least a little before I go for the classes. Thank you for being so informative and for making a video I was able to take a lot of notes about as well :)

So, my dad was watching this video and the explanation was so clear, simple and educational that I logged into my YT account and subbed to your channel immediately. Very impressed
Your points were good and telling them to seek instructions from an instructor was a good statement. We all need knowledge and when we think we know all we become dangerous.
My dad made us try to shoot back when I was 13 yo (which my mom taught us, me and my sister, how to aim) and I learned pretty fast and i got satisfied with how fast I learned and had fun actually, and now I'm dying to learn all of the basics and trying to learn how to use them conveniently and safely.

Thank you so much for making this very helpful video! Many others I've seen have so much technical terminology that I can't follow them very well. My husband's entire family is really into hunting, so it was always sort of intimidating when they offered to show me anything. This was exactly what I was looking for!!
Thank you so much for your comment. That means a lot to me. Yes, guns can be very intimidating. When teaching new people, I believe easing their fears is the top priority. I'm happy to hear this video helped calm your concerns. I hope you actually get to shoot and enjoy the hobby someday soon!
Thank you for educating. I grew up with a firearm expert father so I learned all these things. I wish for all people to understand these basics so that they are not intimidated by firearm conversations, firearm laws, 2d Amendment rights 👍
You are most welcome. As I say in the video, I think that is the most essential topic to begin with when teaching ANY subject. If the student doesn't understand the terminology used by the teacher, they won't learn a thing. You need to establish a common-ground of language before expanding upon any teaching.
This video was so cool! I'm a teen who is just getting into firearms (my parents have been talking about getting me firearm lessons) and this helped me a lot. I got so excited to hear that you had the exact same opinion as me on talking about terminology before safety! It really helped me understand what you were talking about with the safety part to hear the terms first. :D
Thanks, man. I appreciate that. I've always thought it was weird when people say, "Teenagers think they know everything." I have never found that to be true. In my experience, teenagers are always eager to learn and be educated. I'm glad you found this video helpful and I appreciate you taking the time to comment.
Thank you. I think about making more a lot, actually. This is not a "firearms channel" per se, but this is one of my most popular videos and lots of people have asked for more. I keep thinking maybe I should do a firearms channel... We shall see what the future holds...
@@LuthorvilleCA I have ran into this problem my self and I would just recommend doing everything on one channel as some of your viewers will like the overlap and the videos have a higher chance of doing better when you already have a slight subscriber base built it. Your channel could either have mixed content or slowly over time you can transition to being just a firearms channel. I started with a fitness channel first and then I transitioned to tech channel and because I had viewers to already, it helped boosted the new tech content and overall everything performed better.
@@SERGE_Tech Yeah, I hear what you're saying. I think it depends on two main factors: 1. The quantity of content. 2. How closely it relates to your current channel. For example, if it's just a few videos that are slightly off-topic, it can be okay. Almost like a "special series". But, if it ends up being 50 videos veering way off the original premise of your channel, you should just create a different channel. Personally, I already have multiple channels for multiple subjects. Some are far more popular than others. For example, I have a skateboarding channel with over 30K subscribers and I have a brand new bicycling channel with... 29. Not 29,000. Just... 29. Ha, ha! I see transitioning the topic of your channel worked out very well for you. I just looked at your channel and your tech videos really surged in popularity, compared to the fitness stuff. That's awesome! But, yes, the firearms stuff is fun. I'm glad you enjoyed what I did.
Thank you so much! 40,000 views and I think you are the first person to mention the Caddyshack joke. I'm glad someone finally understood what I was doing.
Studying forensic science and I'm on the part about wounds and causes of wound. I literally had no idea of ammunition and guns, and the book was of no help because of the lack of illustrations. This video is i guess the most basic of gun introduction. Thanks.
I could teach you a few other things about that kind of science. For example, most doctors freak out more when contending with a .22 caliber wound than a larger caliber. Why? Because a .22 is so small, and has so little mass, they have a tendency to spin and tumble once they enter the body, zig-zagging around on an unpredictable trajectory and doing all sorts of nasty damage to internal organs. Larger calibers, with more mass and less speed, often just pass right through and produce an exit wound. Fascinating stuff.
I'm Filipino who have seen a lot of guns in Ph streets. I have seen security guards bring shotguns or rifles with sidearms in establishments like malls, schools, offices, or even parks. Seeing guns in daily life makes me want to learn about it. I have been afraid of carrying or even holding it. Now I'm here in US, I want to own one as part of the Constitution and become a responsible gun owner. This video gave me a good insight. Thank you.
I try to. Sometimes, when people leave really bizarre comments, I ignore them, because I don't even know how to reply. But, if people take the time to leave a sensible comment, I feel like they deserve the courtesy of a reply.
I think this is a top class firearms safety training video in itself. The only thing that remains is handling of the gun which is best learned when taking accredited classes.
Taking my first private lesson with an NRA instructor next month. Wanting to do some research before then on my own and this was perfect supplemental instruction. I feel like I'm going in with more knowledge and won't be completely confused.
Thank you so much for your comment, Lexi. You are EXACTLY the type of person I made this video for. Now, you can be a lot more comfortable, going into your lesson. Have fun!
Not violent at all just trying to learn how to shoot a gun. For self defense just in case I'm in a situation like a robbery or someone is threatening my life. Very important to learn guns.
I'm really love guns, but I've never used a one, I really wanna learn how to use it and shoot it at least, such a dream to me but unfortunately there is not even a training class to go for, except the military one which I cant't go due to my fam, I mean they don't like it ,so thanks for your video I'm really enjoying it.
Thank you for sharing such an organized and educational video. I have never practiced shooting, what should be my first hand gun or rifle? Any recommendations?
You're welcome. Glad you liked it. What should your first firearm be? Really depends on what you intend to use it for. There are so many uses for firearms. Hunting? Home defense? Personal protection? Target shooting? Sport shooting? Cowboy action? Skeet? No one can tell you what your first gun should be, until you explain what you want to do with it.
Thank you so much for that. The best video I’ve seen for beginners up to now. I went to one of those idiot ranges where I was handed a high-power shotgun on my first session lol. Luckily, I still have my front teeth.
Oh, boy. Yeah, a beginner should NOT be starting with a 12ga shotgun. I hope you give it another try and have a much more considerate teacher. Thanks for the compliments!
Thank you for this video! Very informative and I like the way you’ve approached us beginners.. I’ve watched several videos on gun ownership and about starting out and this is very very good because it doesn’t assume us newbies know anything.. which is how you teach ppl. Other videos were informative if you already have a basic knowledge. Learning the terminology is very helpful for me and helps me relate this info to other things I e learned this far.
You are very welcome. I'm glad you found it helpful. I agree any "beginner" videos are not very good and they skip a lot of important fundamentals. My motive behind creating this was to lay the groundwork, so people will be a lot more comfortable before they go to a training class.
Excellent. Regarding the safety rule of treating every firearm as if it were loaded, I don't make an exception when cleaning, that is I simply do not clean my weapon until I have sufficiently disassembled it down to parts such that it is no longer a firearm anymore, it is simply parts which do not have the potential safety issue. Removal of the bolt/firing pin or cylinder (chamber) of a revolver or barrel of typical semi-auto pistols is certainly enough to allow an owner to focus on the task at hand which is cleaning. I do think there are certain kinds of firearms that don't accommodate that basic level of regular disassembly, in which case, an exception would need to be made, but I would do so very carefully, and follow the applicable safety rules as best as possible.
Single-shots. Those would be the exception. I don't know of any single-shot weapon which has a "field strip" capability. They are pretty much assembled or disassembled. Thanks for watching.
Thank you so much for this great video. I am a compete newbie to firearms and I'll so glad I chose your video as my introduction to the sport. Well done my friend.
Great Job!! I thoroughly enjoyed this class😊 and learned a lot! Very informative and entertaining (I wasn't bored) I served 8 yrs military so I am familiar with rifles but I've never used a hand gun or pistol. I'd like to purchase one for protection, and get training at a range. I'm single petite female and I travel A LOT for work by myself, if anything ever happened (God forbid) I probably can't physically defend myself against a large person. Anyway, Thanks for the lesson!👍🏽
You;re welcome. I'm shocked that in 8 years of military service, you had no handgun training. That's a little disturbing. I mean, if our military personnel don't know how to use a handgun, what the heck are they teaching our soldiers!? I admire you for serving and I'm grateful you served our country. I'm also glad I could help educate you on some things our military failed to teach you.

Hi. I'm not a beginner but this video is a fine production of the basics. Need folks like you!
Always nice to hear positive feedback from experienced shooters. Thank you.
You have no idea how dumb I feel I was before watching this. Thank you for this video!👍
You're welcome. I'm glad you found it helpful.
This is the chillest firearm video I've ever seen!
Thank you very much. I think a mellow approach is more effective than a belligerent one.
Thank you for educating. I grew up with a firearm expert father so I learned all these things. I wish for all people to understand these basics so that they are not intimidated by firearm conversations, firearm laws, 2d Amendment rights 👍
You are welcome. Thank you for such a nice comment. I'm flattered that the son of a firearms expert approves. I appreciate that.
I don’t get why people explaining gun anatomy is so calming.
I'm 17, so nowhere close to owning one but when I do it'll be awesome
Thanks man great video, appreciate it!
In most states, you can own a gun at nearly any age, as long as your parents are supervising the use. Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for the comment.
@@LuthorvilleCA You know its quite complicated here in India
I love how he said hey there boys and girls ❤️
I love how you left a comment.
You Hats off to you !!!!!! You are the first one who had the sense to help teach terminology!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU !!!!! 😉
You are most welcome. As I say in the video, I think that is the most essential topic to begin with when teaching ANY subject. If the student doesn't understand the terminology used by the teacher, they won't learn a thing. You need to establish a common-ground of language before expanding upon any teaching.
First video I watch on firearms and super informative, great job and thanks a lot !
You're welcome. I'm glad you enjoyed it and found it useful.
what a nice genuine fella! nice calmness and professionalism. you're the kind of instructor that I'd like to have to learn how to shoot.
Thank you very much. It's always nice to get a plesant comment/compliment like yours.
The caddyshack reference towards the end earns you a sub. Great video with good content!
Thanks! And you are cool for being one of a mere handful of people who understood the _Caddyshack_ reference.
@@LuthorvilleCA Well that's a shame, that movie is an all time classic!
I've always thought it was weird when people say, "Teenagers think they know everything."
I have never found that to be true. In my experience, teenagers are always eager to learn and be educated.
I'm glad you found this video helpful and I appreciate you taking the time to comment.
I'm not American and know next to nothing about guns, so I needed to watch this.
Hope you found it useful, regardless of the nation you call home.
Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
Thanks. I will be using this to a school project. Thank you
Nice. Hope you do well on the project.
I watched this because my friends teased me I didn't know about guns and i'm American, now i'm happy I watched it.
phenomenal video! can you make more of these?
I think it depends on two main factors:
Just here preparing for the zombie apocalypse
These days, aren't we all?
How did that go
Best instructional video I've seen.
I appreciate that.
Thank you! You’ve helped rid me of some of my uncomfortable feelings of my gun.
Great video! I love the Caddyshack reference too. LOL
As a newly licensed individual, I found this very informative. Thanks!
You're welcome. Glad you found it useful.
Thank you.
America is all about people coming together and defending our mutual freedoms. Welcome to the Land of The Free.
been scrolling through the comments, damn this guy really reads all the comments...thankyou, this was very informative
Thank you. Yes, I highly support people getting some training with a real person too.
Exceptionally well-explained for beginners. Thank you!
You are most welcome. Glad you enjoyed it.
I dont have any hobby that im actually determined to learn, firearms just seems to interest me so imma start watching videos like these
Cool. Well, I hope you found it interesting and educational.
Learned a lot of things I didn’t wanted I little bit more information before I take training classes. Loved guns my whole life!
Glad you found it useful. Thanks for the comment.
Great intro/reminder about Firearms! Enjoyable, Informative and fun!
The best teaching video I’ve seen about firearms. You’re very knowledgeable, interesting and precise in your approach.
Thank you very much. I tired to keep it simple and fun. I'm glad you appreciated it.
Thank you. Best basic video. Slow and understandable speak - like John Wayne. Clear demo. Really great. Thanks.
Thanks! Good beginner's class.
You're welcome. Thanks for the kind comment.
Awesome video! thank you for all the kindness too. Really a breath of fresh air :)
You are welcome. Glad you enjoyed it! And thanks for the nice compliment.
Thank you for your tips and basic safety. Sometimes you think you know everything and small details are very important too.
Glad you enjoyed it.
Excellent video, very good info. I gotta say, the Caddy Shack reference really cracked me up! 👍🏼
Thank you. I always love it when people get the reference. Cinderella boy. Cinderella story.
11:57 Bro was like: "the science behind it..."
"the chemistry"
Waltuh...
I had to look up "waltuh" and then I realized I didn't understand this comment at all, because I've never watched that TV show.
@@LuthorvilleCA I’m honestly glad you didn’t get it, that meme community is insane.
Thank you so much for this great video. I am a compete newbie to firearms and I'll so glad I chose your video as my introduction to the sport. Well done my friend.
You're welcome. It has become one of my most popular videos. Glad you liked it.
Damn, came here for some gun knowledge but was immediately distracted by that pic of Kirsten Joy Weiss!
I'd pay her alimony with a smile.
Love many of your videos, i thought you did a very nice job with this one. You handled the subject of firearms with class and great advise. Well done.
Thank you very much. I know how opinionated firearms enthusiasts can be. I tried to use a very "hickock45" mentality and be very diplomatic. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome video. You covered all the basics. I'm passing this on to all my beginner friends and family. Two-thumbs up.
Thank you. It's always nice when people enjoy my work enough to recommend it to others.
This was amazing, I was just poking around to make sure the book I was writing sounded accurate but now I truly have an interest in pursing this! I was always scared of the idea of doing so but you explained it in such a way that now I'm excited to try! Thank you for making this!
You are very welcome. I'm glad it was useful and even inspired you to learn firearms for real.
Gonna add this to my things I’m nerdy about collection now
