dumbest plot twist.
To be fair they are not really cylons. They are members of the now dead Earth 1 humans.
Machines that could reproduce just like humans could.
They are the final five. Not the final five of the cylon skin jobs. But the final five of their race.
Let that sink in.
Are they Cylons or the 13th or is that the same?
So they are Cylons but Cylons are related to humans, actual humans- then built more human than human copies because the five were essentially Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and the soulless fuckers that are close to them?
Then the centurions because? Why did they wage war again?
The backstory seems sketchy but the journey was fun.
Look at the emotion on Tigh's face...he know's Adama's coming. And you can see how much confidence Adama has in his old buddy Tigh just by his reaction. He has no idea what’s happening on the ground but when he hears Tigh is leading the resistance, he’s struck with a sense of hope. Great stuff.
And hades is coming with him
and if he needs to he'll airdrop a battlestar on the ground just to help
Snacktime for Lee apparently consists of:
-Walnuts
-Stale seasoned potato wedges from the Pegasus's on-board Boar's Head Deli
-Cashews(?)
-Gagh, imported from RDM's other series.
-The gooey, cottony interior of some okra
With such a lavish spread, small wonder he put on so much weight between seasons.

They all a did. But i am not sure about Lee and "Please pet me" Officer Duala. These both are so frecking boring and grey an nothingless, its shaking. bruah....
@@benjaminschabel4847 I disagree, I think Lee is a fairly well rounded character. Just more grounded and not a cylon or major plot device, but that doesn't make it a bad character

Oh yeah, he was annoying, he was 'soft' but when push came to shove they transitioned him to a slimmer fat suit over time back to his kickass Viper pilot status.

Very emotional scene. Nothing better than knowing someone is coming to rescue you.
I dont know why -- I'm not really a crier when I watch shows -- but whenever I watch the scene where the three of them are in that bunker and they read "have hope, we're coming for you", I really get emotional. Imagine living on New Caprica having no idea where Galactica was -- if it was even still around. And then to get that message, and realize that there's actually a chance to survive. Gets me every time

One of the best fucking scenes in this series. Nothing flashy, nothing grand and somehow more powerful and meaningful that most battles.

This is a lesson on how to make grown men cry, "we are coming for you" if you didn't get chills the first time you saw this your probably a sociopath devoid of any feelings.

I picture several Cylons in a base ship comms compartment, giggling as they send "This is Tigh" to the Raptor and "We're coming for you" to the resistance. 😆
Presumably the Cylons can't read Colonial transmissions, but they'd have to be actual toasters not to listen for them. Imagine the Colonials' surprise when they find that the Cylons have taken not only the keys of the grounded ships, but also the carburetors!
One of the best scenes in the show.
You could say Adama is telling them: “ I’M COMING FOR ALL OF YOU!!! I SWEAR IT!!! “
I also said if I served under Adama, Picard Sisko and Sherdian. I would follow them anywhere. Yes they have their flaws.

Dammmm . I think the exodus story line is my favourite story ark of the series .
Dropping a massive starship that cannot levitate through a planet's atmosphere to launch fighters and jumping out again before hitting the ground was the most epic thing I have ever witnessed in any science fiction anything ever.

Three Cylons planning their breakout from Cylon slavery. Also just had this thought...Remember when the Cylon Raider scanned Anders and recognized him? Shouldn't the Centurions have been able to do the same in New Caprica?
That Cavil cylon was pretty much running the show and the Centurions has those limiter devices on them to keep them obedient. That's always been my theory as to why the Centurions never really reacted to any of the final five they encountered.
No as the Cylons were never slaves.
The Cylons certainly seemed to have enslaved the humans at New Caprica
@@skyhawkpilot172 Weren't the Final Five forbidden to actually discuss? At this point, they hadn't even awakened, but if they had, what would a Centurion do - back down like the Raiders did after scanning Anders?
@@RustBunny, I think so, but also only Cavel seemed to know who they were. The Centurions were incapable of free thought and action. The Raiders were supposed to be the same mindless drones too. Something happened when one Raider recognized Anders. Remember Cavel was lobotomizing them to find out how the Raiders were able to disobey and further recognize Anders.

I thought the actor got hurt or something and put on weight so they wrote it into the show. At the time I found that immensely tacky that they felt the need to address it like that.
I had no problem with him gaining weigh (even when it was badly illustrated with the stuff in his cheeks and stuff) but I really feel it was ridiculous that he lost weight so easily and just said "dont let that happen again" and it was never addressed again. Think it would have had more sense if Lee's collapse would have had more long term effects or the struggle would have been more than losing a couple of pounds at the gym and being done with it
It's a fat suit, the actor never gained any weight.

There were 4 or 5 cylon baseships that jumped in. Say 1 over the planet. That is 3 or 4 to keep hunting 2 battlestars. The pilot has a statement of 130 ish battlestars. So let us say the cylons had that many base ships. Many more could be there to hunt 2 battlestars. And if 2 base ships and 9 planets in the "the courthouses of libra are burning" scene, that would be 18 minimum. 10 minimum if one per planet and one planet with two. Once humans were found all ships but the colony would be there, minus maybe one or two for the human breeding camps. I loved the show, but lots of sloppy writing
Not sloppy. FTL range is dictated by how well it can calculate the travel between Telescope sighted stars and true position accounting for speed of the stars movement across the galaxy. Before the War they had this concept of the red line a sort of known space to colonial civilization and where coordinates for FTL jumps could be calculated with a certain degree of accuracy and reliability. As the fugitive fleet makes preparations to leave the system. They talk about doing an insanely risky jump way beyond the red line. Basically in the hope of traveling outside known to colonials space and navigational charts. As the fleet kept running in 33 making over 230 plus jumps in non stop traveling for five days. It’s obvious the fleet is making jumps to the furthest extent of FTL range that is the safe calculations they can make within or just outside the fleet’s localized red line. Technically speaking the FTL systems on their ships could jump across the galaxy. It’s a tunnel or needly tear or fold across spacetime. BUT say if you jump from our Earth to the opposite point of the galaxy you would not end up in the place you want but the section of the galaxy in terms of planetary bodies and star systems that actually are located in that section of space. These are called blind jumps. So now think of the Cylons job. After the fleet flees head honcho Cavil angrily orders all units to pursue. So How? They have assets in the fleet for sure but they can only make contact when the fleet is resting . There is no trek style subspace radio. We know the Olympic Carrier was compromised early on and hijacked. But the reports of the fleet position can not be done through super luminal communications so again the cylons have a limited number of base ships and have to fan out across all star systems to figure out where they are or get a whiff of the Olympic carriers report hence why they find the fleet every 33 minutes. As for how they kept running across the fleet on open space light years away from colonies well suspension disbelief might be the answer or the final five have tracking beacons in the colony idk

The weirdest thing about this season is Ellen. She's frakkin Cavill, and while he may not know she is one of the Final Five, she certainly would have known before Tigh killed her.
He knew, he was the one that wiped the final five's memories, and embedded them on Caprica with false memories.
Mommy issues indeed. Makes my skin crawl. He nuked the Colonies, forced the remaining Colonials to run for their lives in a extended game of cat and mouse, mind screwed the final five and sent them to live on the planets he would be nuking so they would build up friendships and lives, only to have it all tore away from them... Again. And on top of it all, he frakked his mother. Why? Because she designed him to look like her father and he wasn't "pretty" like the other ones.

@@usul573 Ron Moore did this because he genuinely thought it would be interesting back in the day to do so, where as now it would be very on the nose point made of it (it would be the story, it would be very ) , we actually see that for as tough as Starbuck is, she's actually a soft soul behind it all. Its all a facade mostly. Most of the women on this show respect the hell out of William Adama, theres a lack of snark and any problem they have are with his desisions and not the fact he's a man making those decisions.
In that sense Colonial society was actually very traditional and honourable behind the modern veneer.
Starbuck threw a punch at Lee, but then he hits, decks her, back just as hard. And they both shrug it off, You can't just go around smacking people willy nilly without retribution coming is the message.
@@johnmcternan4157 I suppose I know what you mean. A few possible pitfalls of female characters. Poor establishment/writing like the Sand Snakes in GOT. Poor performance like Denise Richards in The World is Not Enough. Michelle Yeoh as Wai Lin was much better. That her abilities and backstory don't line up and feel jarring like Rey in Star Wars. I don't think any of that applies to Battlestar Galactica though. Still, there was toxicity, booing, nasty letters, nasty comments/forums online. None of it held any actual water as far as I'm concerned though. Just trolls who have nothing else to worry about in their lives than sci-fi characters.
@@usul573 Never understood that. When I saw the first episode I immediately thought Katee Sackhoff nailed the role. Kara Thrace was a flawed character with tons of issues. But she was a badass Viper pilot. She goes through a lot of growth and change in the series. That's what makes her a great character. From skepticism to faith. From rebel without a cause to responsible commander. From insecurity to confidence. Hell all the main characters went through major changes pretty much like trying to survive on a day to day basis under constant threat will do to you. In the OG series none of that happened. We used to joke as teenagers that the original was a lot like Bonanza with Lorne Greene as the head of the family on the Ponderosa, errr Galactica.
This is when the series started to go downhill

it is better than original in every way imaginable. watched both. there is no comparison. the only thing I miss are the cylon voices :)

So in what way wasn't Kara Thrace a warrior? I'd say she pretty much had the same mentality the original Starbuck had. Also making their og series names fighter pilot call signs was a brilliant move. Even as a teenager I thought the one word names were dumb. They presumably came from planets with billions of people. Ever think how many "Starbucks" and "Apollo's" would exist on each planet? The original show had a very good pilot episode and maybe a couple decent episodes mixed in. The ones with Lloyd Bridges as Admiral Cain and a couple with John Colicos as Balthar. Other than that it got progressively cheesier as it went along. If you liked the original fine. There were things I liked about it as well but the reboot is far superior in my opinion, even though it has it's flaws as well.
